  • Lillith is one of my favorite figs. I find myself picking her as a random starting place more than anyone else. I snapped up Lucian for the same reason. Their faces have strong features, but atypical of american models. Lillith almost reminds me of an Italian runway gal. This means they fill a different role for me than Mike and Vicky.

But, if I'm being honest here, it's the cheek bones. Dem cheeks.

And, since Ivan and Rune came up, can someone secretly convince daz to put them on a deep sale. My budget is trashed from October and I want them so bad *sob* Rune is Red Sonja for me. And I cannot get enough of Red Sonja.

Looks like an angry pouty mean-faced Johnny depp. Very odd choice to me for a new figure line. Was there a shortage of this type of character?  Also odd looking eyebrows.

At any rate, have no interest in the quasi-goth medieaval outfits. One of the hairs looks like it was designed for a Lee 7 (reminds me of sai fon hair) and looks quite a bit like existing hair. The other looks like a female bob. In fact when I saw the hairstyle on lucian, I thought he was an older woman,.

This looks like an odd hodge podge of content thrown into a male bundle. Was this all specifically designed to compliment Lucian? Cause aside from the outfits, which have a goth look, I just don't see a theme or method to this set... And what is with that scowl. Holy cow, at least give him some wrinkles if he's going to have that constant constipated look.

    I admit I'm disapppointed.

    +1

To me, he's as uninspired as his promo pics.  And, no, he's more Julian Assange than Johnny Depp.

Why are so many guys in the "7" lineup so old looking? There seems to be a pretty big gap between Tween Ryan and everybody else. I guess all the ladies like older men after all.

A few Lucian pics kind of remind me of some 90's rock singers, or something. His "role" should have been a rocker, The Daz main line doesn't have that. We got lots of warrior dudes now. Daz needs a rockstar! It would seem like an obvious thing to me, giving the girls somebody to swoon over.

Girls are more likely to swoon over resting grouch face than glittery pants. Cranky is interesting, it suggests a story. A rock star is all about accoutrements. And, well, skill. Both of which are hard to do in a base figure.

(Also, the number of romance novel covers requiring a 'warrior dude' vastly outnumber the covers requiring glitter pants and a microphone.)

Titus-F would make a good rockstar, especially with that Adonis hair he's sporting in the promo pics. He jumped into my cart REAL fast!

I think Lucian looks about 30. Is that old? OMG....what does that make me then? o.O

I don't know about that. wink  I think a rockstar would be a great idea and more original than Lucian at present. Personally grouchy does not make swoon At all. Quite the opposite. And I think the warrior look at least the fantasy warrior is rather over represented.

    But to each his own.

My first impression of the main promo picture is of the rich lord's illegitimate son that is overly angry at the world, takes it out on everyone around him, and you wish would just fall off his horse in the first act. lol  He looks too young for my taste in some shots, and just unpleasantly surly in others.  Sadly I just don't like him based on the promos, and I was looking forward to a new male.

A much older reference than the Potter books, but he would work well for Gwydion, the illegitimate son of Morgaine and King Arthur (Mists of Avalon:  Marion Zimmer Bradley 1983 United States, Knopf ISBN 0-394-52406-3, Pub Date January 1983, hardcover).

I think he renders up quite nice and mixes nice with the other bases from what the promos show. Here I changed his jaw line just a smidge. Oh, he has pronounced laugh lines, which should make some ppl very happy ;)

I figured out who he really reminds me of...

I just slightly tweaked the nose (like 7 dials max) and voila! young Franz Liszt! swoons

You know.. Liszt was often considered the first rockstar ;)

(this post is about 40% facetious, but seriously he does look like Liszt)

Well that knitted brow is probably from looking at bright monitors all day or working outdoors then anger if they are basing his looks on real life. Or, in US at least, sitting in 2 hours of rush hour traffic to get home after work in LA. That will make you look dour.

G3M's 'figures' aren't doing it for me. They remind me of M3 in a lot of ways. Fingers crossed for G4M.

Lucian definitely looks like a more mature figure. While Gianni, Leo, Michael and Kimo could fit anywhere between 25 - early 30s, Lucian seems 35+, at least to me.

Guy definitely has a case of resting... grumpy face. But yeah, He's certainly the closest thing to a David we've got in the last 2 generations, so I'm going to be dialling him into a lot of my gentlemen, (and maybe I'll really go full david with him and start dialing him into my ladies too)

Wait, you dial men into your ladies? O_o lol What part? Head? body? Both? how much? For what purpose? What features are you looking to add? Also, how? Is there a tool that can convert morphs from male to female figure? I'm always looking for different ways to create characters. This sounds really cool.

Titus-F is a rare exception who certainly could, but he's not a base character. And he requires TWO base characters PLUS male body morphs and head morphs, which, IMO, is way too much for a single figure.

I think it would be pretty cool to have a rockstar themed pro bundle, it certainly would be a nice change of pace from the fantasy stuff. How many medieval items do we really need? It could have a mix of punk, glam, and such. Add on characters and clothes could feature similar themes, like rap, electronic, metal and so on. Stage props and other cool stuff could be done, all Iray optimized for maximum headbanging glory.

You can melt you GPU and your face at the same time!!! How metal!

In case you didn't see this over in the Art Studio section, look at Parker, coming down the pike for Lucian. (Then scroll down for more examples.)  You can also see Damen, coming soon. (go back further on the thread.)

Okay, having messed around with Lucian, these are my first impressions.

    •  Lucian's eyebrows are odd. Kind of a fake looking black color and sparse like they come from a female skin resource and then dyed. They don't match his skin tone because they are almost way too black. Durng my goth phase in high school and college this was called blue black.
    •   His nailss are rendering quite bluish gray like he's suffering oxygen deprivation. This is the defualt skin and can be seen in promo images as well.
    • Defrowner can help with some of the pouty mouth issues.
    • His body isn't really remarkable looking.
    • The lack of symetry in his features is interesting
    • The skin with the exception of the brows and nails looks great on other characters like M7.
    • He doesn't look young adult to me. I would say at least 40.

Through gen 2 I transferred via the transfer utility (I had to get more creative to get a good transfer to gen 3). I mostly use the body, David 5 had nice definition in areas like the shoulders and ribcage. Also wider feet and just generally a bit knobby. It was great for getting characters less smooth, without making them super skinny or muscle-y

    @Serene night

The Eyebrows is a materials settings thing, frankly with the default settings the eyebrows look positively green to me (positive note, some of the other sss settings look a lot better than previous figures) If you turn down the Translucency weight to .5 and set the SSS reflectance tint way less cyan, like .85/.95/1.0 then eyebrows will turn a color more likely to be found in nature (They're actually a sort of medium brown)

I haven't checked but nails may be a settings thing too

Ehmmm, wasn't the name of the son Mordred? I haven't read this specific Bradley's book (did read others of her, so I know the cult) but in the movie and in the legends the son was always Mordred, and I believe they only had one son, for obvious reasons.

Check the SSS Reflectance Tint on the fingernails surface. Both Eva 7 and Karen 7 had errors there ( blue instead of yellow like the skin and toenails ). Eva has been fixed. Karen has not. I don't have Lucien, but your description sounds like something similar.

Well, judging by today's new bedding product, I'd say someone thinks Lucian and Lillith go together.

They look pretty good in the promos here: http://www.daz3d.com/jepe-s-beddingz-props-and-poses-gothic-edition

I had resisted getting Lillith but picked up Lucian. Might have to rethink that after seeing them together! They look like they've both been around the block a few times and life hasn't been easy for them, but they have each other (however dysfunctional that might be.) I like it!

The legends of Arthur have a lot of variation in them. You caused me doubt, although my original statement was taken from a discussion about "Mists of Avalon". I'm sure Bradley, too, took some liberty with her characters. According to Wikipedia, "Mordred or Modred (/ˈmoʊdrɛd/WelshMedrautMedrod, etc.) is a character in the Arthurian legend, known as a notorious traitor who fought King Arthur at the Battle of Camlann, where he was killed and Arthur fatally wounded. Tradition varies on his relationship to Arthur, but he is best known today as Arthur's illegitimate son by his half-sister Morgause, though in many modern adaptations Morgause is merged with the character of Morgan le Fay. In earlier literature, he was considered the legitimate son of Morgause, also known as Anna, with her husband King Lot of Orkney. His brothers or half-brothers are GawainAgravainGaheris, and Gareth. The name (from either Old Welsh Medraut, Cornish Modred, or Old Breton Modrot) is ultimately derived from Latin Moderātus.[1] "

That said, I may still be mixing my legendary heroes and villains.

He's okay, but his bundle isn't doing much for me.  I finally caught up on all the male G3 characters during the last two sales and even withthe 30% additional offer, I'm not seeing that Lucien brings enough new to the lineup to justify splurging on something that feels like filler.
