I'm using 372.90; have been since I restored from a disk image a few weeks ago. No issues.
I use 9 series cards so can't offer any insight on the 10 series perfromance, and I use Windows 8.0.
... And as usual, I'll avoid upgrading NVidia drivers (as they like to break stuff
) as everything seems to be working fine. I'm using a previous beta, and am considering trying the latest; I have the one I'm using and the latest downloaded so can revert.
Previous version - forgot to get which before uninstalling, but fairly certain the previous one

Used the same scene, and in both cases I started rendering with a previous render still open to pevent scene loading to influence the times unduly. Rendered on a 980ti.
Two minutes difference is nice, but with just the one render, not useful for comparrison purposes.
Getting the illegal instruction error on CPU only renders every time on an AMD everything laptop so don't think it is entirely CUDA related.
I was using 372.xx, and it crashed so i upgraded to latest driver thinking it needed the cuda 8.0 upgrade to work. So its not a driver issue.
Does keeping Optix off do anything for those 'illegal instruction' errors?
I think you are right, i tried unticking the GPU options and ticking CPU only and tried to do CPU render, it crashed immediately like before with same error. I am beginning to suspect its an AMD issue? Maybe..

I think so too. I can Render with my 1080 but without textures. When i load Textures on models daz chrashes
Wow thats actually quite telling. I am not sure what it means, but i did an experiment and loaded a Genesis 2 female into the scene, then went to the editor and removed all the textures then used the Iray preview...and it worked no crash, did a test render with a figure with no textures and it worked. So the problem doesnt lay with the figures themselves but with how it does textures. I noticed something in the log file about incorrect sRGB being used. I wonder if this is the culprit...not that i know anything bout how works but at least its good information!
Viewing the log file i got alot of these WARNING: libpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile. I dont know if it means anything, but it seems to be related to the PNG library that load textures?
Doesnt seem to make a difference.
I Look later. I Hope we find the Problem Ort the Developers
What's really weird is that when i load an old simple IRAY test scene with some primitives it renders without crash. I can even apply new shaders to the objects. But as soon as something from the runtimes is added, it crashes.
Did you have a AMD CPU?
Nope , it's been Intel Inside for all PCs i ever owned.
The sRGB warning is probably harmless - it seems that the library used for image handling is fussy, but it affects all users and has been doing so for a while so I doubt it is implicated here.

looks like the Same problem
When you have the same Problem, then its not a AMD problem
Hello i have still a crash when i was rendering in Iray.
What does it mean? I have 0 CUDAS? And Why Geometry memory consumption: 14.7739 MiB?

Which version of the NVIDIA driver do you have installed?
The newest 375.63-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql
...that's bad if it crashes in CPU mode if you have an AMD CPU. I can understand with GPU mode if you have a Radeon or FirePro (but then it should automatically dump to the CPU like it does when you run out of VRAM).
Try the previous version (373.06). Do a clean driver install if possible.
I have a GTX 1080 with 8GB and a AMD 6core and 12 GB RAM . With my old GTX 970 rendering makes no problem and they have only 4GB (3,5) VRAM
ok, i have installed the newest clean too, so i try 373.06
...but it shouldn't crash in CPU mode like D.Robinson reported.
It chrash in GPU only mode too
...so Iray doesn't like anything from AMD then, and here I was looking at their forthcoming 16 core (32 thread) CPUs.
Crikey, talk about proprietary on the expensive side.
Thanx. But i have the same problem. I hope the Developers fix this or i must upgrade to Intel :-(

I am rendering with an AMD 8 core CPU and Nvidia GPU using the latest Nvidia drivers and no problem (knocking on everything wooden around me) so I cannot doubt this is an AMD issue.
...did you try rendering on the CPU only?
