The hair, collar, and flower are parented since autofit wasn't ideal for them. The dress and shoes are autofit with zero adjustments though.

I don't have any other of her outfits aside from the default :( If I'd have known there was going to be an RDNA sale the day after the stellar bundle offer, I would have waited and bought more of them :(

    @Ix:

Was that render of Creme Brulee Iray? And if so, what shaders did you apply to the dress. My Iray render comes out mostly black?

Can anybody tell me how to get the Anime Eyes to be less blindingly white in Iray renders? I went through and swapped out materials.... (Having an old and new rendering engine makes things very confusing when you're a newbie interested in anime... Star 2.0 showed up about two weeks into my journey... you would not believe how long it took me to realize that the reason none of the cell-shading techniques I was trying worked was because the renderer was set to Iray... that said, I do like Iray as I experiment with looks and styles.)

Also, or alternately, is there any way to get the Anime Eyes to show up on the boys? I have various cross-figure clone things but I couldn't get it to work. Anime boy eyes are stylistically pretty different from girl eyes (at least that kind of guy), but I'd like to experiment more...

You might want to take a look at Hiro.  I can't remember is there was ever a Hiro 5 (for Genesis) but I know there was Hiro 4 and he's pretty much toon based.  Since he's Generation 4, he goes on super-sale fairly regularly.  You might get the look you're aiming for with him.

I poked at Anime Eyes some and while altering the Eyes themselves didn't do much, the actual Eye Socket was glowing. I turned down the luminance to 5 and I think this is better?

I've looked at Hiro, especially today since I think his Pro pack is on mega sale. My biggest problem is that none of my 7/6 stuff will work on him, I think? And I hate taking steps backwards. I'd like to play with Kenji but I think it'll be a while before he's on sale again.

There was a Hiro 5 for Genesis, and his Pro bundle is part of today's sale.

Star's Anime Eye whites are actually her face's Eye Socket material zone. Try messing with that.

Someone below mentioned Hiro.. just a note that you won't see on product pages if you like matching sets: Hiro 4 goes with Aiko 4. Hiro 5 goes with Hitomi. Kenji 7 goes with Aiko 7. Male Star would be much more useful though!

It was the old Creme Brulee model, in Iray, yes. The roses are JGs (PC+) Elegant Fabric Shaders (lace) the leaves, dress, and ribbon are PD Iray Shader Kit 1 (silk, associated silk bits, gold 50% overlay) and the petticoats the same but with one of the overlays from the same set. The shoes are leather from Mec4D's Iray Shader Kit 2, and the golden heart from Kit 1.

    In summary... replace everything~

    Love this character.

    That is terrifyingly realistic.

But fantastically cool. If you don't mind sharing, which characters did you combine?

The body is 100% Star 2.0

The head is a combination of Teen Josie and Toon Josie Slim (both 36%), Aiko 16%, Anime Head 100%, and scaled the head up and neck down a bit.

I used the skin from the Vanessa character.

Anime Head for Genesis 3 is a freebie morph (with a dial) that you can find on ShareCG.

    Vanessa is this one:  http://www.daz3d.com/fwsa-vanessa-hd-for-victoria-7-and-her-jewelry

As promised a few pages back -- on the left, Star; on the right, Aiko 7; in the middle, A7 dialed down to 75% and Star at 25%. I'll probably end up closer to a 60/40 mix but this looks to be a good start. No tweaks or adjustments, just straight out of the box.

  • This one is a bit more of a mix of several characters.

Base skin is P3D Celene here: http://www.daz3d.com/p3d-celine

Body is Kimmy 23%, Teen Josie 65%, Star 2.0 54%, Body Size -40% (Gen 3 body morphs? or maybe just base product can't recall), Thin 16%, and then the full Star char slider at 9% (which adjusts both the body and head)
Head is Celene 100%, Anime Head 30%, Star 2 Head 6%
Using an HDRI I found somewhere

Really like this character - such a different shape it brings a whole new creative tool to the table for mix n match, whether you're working with anime toon or realistic characters.

Excellent, thanks! I didn't know there was a Toon Josie...was that a typo or is there a morph for the Teen Josie character that creates a toon version?

I bought the original Star not so long ago but I couldn't resist genesis 3 Star with all the morphing possibilities and the clothes and hairs avaliable.

Here is my first render, it's Retro Heroine by Fredel (from Renderosity) with 50 % of Star's body and body propotions, and 30 % of Stars head and 15% of The Girl 7s head.

The outfit is  Retro Heroine outfit (a freebie) by Fredel.

I used DG Toon Style Hair Shaders for the hair :)

WHAT. That looks 100% like a modern rendition of classic Lara O_O

What the heck is the "HINT!"  Hover Mouse To Read Hint!" on the VYK Stella figure for Star. Hovering my mouse doesn't do diddly squat and it's annoying. And it's got it for the Brow Fix too. Does nothing.

  • Do you have tooltips turned off? If not you shold see a larger version of the thumbnail in the tooltip that opens while hovering, presumably with some instructions.

I love the original Star figure, and if I get Star 2.0 then I plan to "recreate" my Sailor Starbrights so they can make full use of my G3F arsenal (especially poses and expressions).

    My main concerns:

    • Has anyone tried fitting the origial Jazz hair to Star 2.0?

    • Any thoughts on auto-fit for Sailor Suit for Star (especially in the gloves and heels)?

Yes, I tried Jazz hair, but you have to manually fit it and parent it to her head, not autofit or it goes wonky. Just realized there are no morphs though, can't even move the tails, (unless it's been updated--the version I have was comped when I was doing promotional renders with Artistic License.) Or maybe there were morphs in Poser? Can't remember. This is my first time trying it in DS.... I can continue to use old Star in Poser, so I'm scooping up a bunch of clothes that are now like 30 cents!

As long as you don't autofit Jazz hair (as you said, manually move it and parent it to Star 2.0), you can move the tails in DS.  The hair has rPonytail and lPonytail parts that can be bent, twisted, and moved side-side with the corresponding dials.

Here is a really quick and dirty autofit conversion of the Sailor Suit for original Star to the new Star 2.0 with Jazz hair parented to Star's head.  The UV mapping is the same for both old and new hair, so the updated materials will work on the old hair.  I didn't let it render very long, hence the grain.  As you can see, there are some areas that will need correcting (I'd do it in post), and the shoes are a little ripply on the soles, but it's not a bad conversion.

Found it, in Preferences. Turned it on and made no difference. Hovering does nothing. I'm using 4.9 btw. (Thanks for the suggestion though.) Anyone got it to work?

Dang it, won't work for me. Are you in 4.9 studio?

And what exactly does that hint mean, I had the option to load Stella when Genesis 3 Females>Characters in Content Library is used,  or load Star 2 then load the Stella morphs, is this saying load Star, do any morphs, then load Stella morphs?

I believe it saying that Stella morph works best when loaded on the Star2.0 ,rather then Genesis3F with Star dialed in ........ but the morph works fine for me and yes I am using DAZ 4.9.2.70

    DivaMakeup what outfit is that??
