Yep. Didn't have anything from that store on my wishlist, so no pre-notification. :D

  • Well, the Wachiwi bundle was somehow stacking to something like 84% off, but now that I'm checking out it's only 76% off.  Not sure what combo is causing it, probably because it has 4 different PA's on it.

Is it just me , or are there very few 'on sale' items at the three current '60% off flash' sales?

Examples: Neftis3D has over 90 items, but only seven have the 60% off tag.

SWAM has over 240 items, but only about 60 are 60% off.

The other items aren't tagged as PC+, and they don't appear to be new releases.

No. Something is definitely amiss: http://www.daz3d.com/learn-to-strike-a-pose-featured-70-off-poses-and-animations# <-- all of those should be 70%...only a few are. :-/

  • AtiAti Posts: 9,182

I see all Neftis at 60% off. Some 72%. Same with SWAM.

    This works for me, too.

Does a reload now fix it?

Tech question: anyone know if the prices are cached by cloudflare, or come directly from DAZ each time?

Yeah. Now it's back to normal... Technology...bah.

Yeah, sometimes they seem to forget the discounts. :( Not only these items, quite a few others, too. :(

Today is a more forgetful day. :) At other times it works fine for days in a row, today it's the second time the prices reset.

Anyone have a guess at why Carrara 8.5 Pro just dropped in price? http://www.daz3d.com/carrara-8-5-pro It's showing as 85% off right now. O.o

It randomly does that a lot. I bought it ages ago at around that price - though lack of updates has meant I mainly used it for the super discount M5V5 pro bundles it comes with.

Only shows that price when I'm logged in. Is this a PC+ promotion?

So if you buy Carerra 8.5 Pro the content that it includes will work in DAZ, too?

Yup they're exactly the same files and can be installed into Studio via DIM or whatever exactly the same as usual.

(The two Pro Bundles, that is - not the Carrara shaders, obviously.)

I personally find Carrara the most intuitive modeler I've ever used. I'm sure I could get used to some other modeler in time, but the way Carrara works really suits me.

(Mind you, that is a very personal reaction that can vary wildly)

I may actually cry. THAT price for all those goodies!! And I can't get them!? And look at these prices for the Runtime DNA sale:

Hubby would probably kill me though since I just bought Star and he gave me flack for that.

I am buying much, much less than I have in the past; I'm still finding stuff I've not used; this is with G3 stuff (I hate to think how much earlier stuff I've not used - mainly G2). Just discovered two days ago, I've not used Arki Rune (other than the eyebrows) at all. So been working on a figure. So my question... Will you use 'em?

Hmmm I think so. I don't have a lot of stuff as I'm still fairly new and I do several renders a day. However I DO have quite a few freebies I haven't used yet. lol I guess you're right. If I want new stuff to play with I can always dig around for freebies that I haven't rendered with. That will probably tide me over until the PA and PC+ sales. lol Dang you and your words of wisdom! :P You're right though, there is "always another sale".

I don't want to put someone off purchasing, as it is fun, trying the new shinies out; but I hate the waste, if all I do (at best) is try a couple of renders the day I get it - and rarely with everything I buy even now, it is a waste; it takes a few days to work through 'em all. In the past (say a mere few months ago cheeky) well, they didn't get used.

    I resemble that comment blush

I have become more restrained myself - part of that is that storage space is finite, even on a terabyte disk, as is money (and the euro has dropped significantly against the dollar over the last few years, so that doesn't help). I don't impulse-buy as much, and always consider what this item adds to the runtime that I don't already have (or very close to it - is that slightly different strap really a good reason to buy that dress for G3 that I already have almost the same for G2; do I really need a glossy white kitchen when surfaces can be changed on the kitchens I already have? I like this item, but how would I use it in a render? Can I make this pose from one that is close to it? etc...).

It takes some of the fun of the ooh-shiny-must!have! reflex out of it, but in return I do get a lot more use out of what I already have, and there's more satisfaction in that in the long run I think.

And it's very sobering to find that item in your runtime that was an ooh-shiny-must!have! when you got it, and realise you've never even used it once.

There's a lot of things I've bought that I haven't used, either (partly because I can't find them and have forgotten I've got them!). I can live with this because I do make an effort to look that kind of thing out every now and again and know there's at least some chance that it'll get used one day. What does annoy me though is the amount of redundant stuff I've got because it was superseded by something better, often only a matter of months later (I've lost count of the number of 'this is the last set of iray hair shaders/portrait lights you'll ever need' etc I've been through), or stuff that doesn't work at all in the same way it once did before various new Studio versions (pw-summat-or-other springs to mind). I'm a lot more jaded than I used to be, and even when I get the 'new, shiney' feeling I'm asking myself how long it's likely to be before I'm looking at 'old, dusty'.

I don't know, I go pretty nuts when I get something new - maybe just because I'm fairly new to 3D art and find it to be crazy fun, but when I get a new shiney that I really like I tend to make a ton of renders with it. 99% of them never see the light of day though. lol Like I bought Star 2.0 (just the base, not one of the bundles) and I've rendered her over a dozen times in less than 24 hours. Of course it helps having a machine that renders in less than 5 minutes and she's a little more special than the average sale item. ^_^ But yeah, you're right, I probably don't need anything new right now. I'll have fun with what I have for a while. I definitely have some freebies I can work with - and with some of the Iray shaders I've gotten from PC+ I know I could make them look all shiney and new!

Still on the fence about Star2; the style,  I'm not a fan of, the eyes in particular; I do like the quality and the options, so there is some potential there. The pose set looks useful, and some are not like I have.

@divamakeup And with most seeing the light-of-day, well yeh, I rarely post any I've done, as I consider them too rubbish. But I am getting better. Yeh renders are usually quick (less than 5 minutes with a HDRI), I have some custom light sets that load by default (but are turned off), and those can make a render take up to an hour.

@Nath yeh, tweaking shaders is fun, so I certainly look at products from the point of view of what they add to my runtime; the 'IRAY-look' has little to do with my decission to purchase.

@Astracadia oh yeh, I've found lots; I said already, but that is actually fun too. I might even revisit the G2 or earlier items I have. Haven't time before uni starts (I'm a somewhat mature student.), and doubt I'll have much time this final year.

My daughter helped me make a catalog of all my DAZ content in a Word file that I can easily page through, with promo pix and descriptions, plus the info on where the files were located. I was stunned at the amount of items I'd never used and/or fogotten that I bought. It was a bit sobering. I try to remind myself of that when I'm looking at new items, and looking back through my catalog can help me see if I've got figures that are near twins of the new item. Not that it stops me from buying new things altogether... It does help me wait more on sales, I think. (Note to self: must update my catalog file once again!)

I made the file to help me locate content that I'm using in a large, extended project (a video game), as I don't find it easy to locate within DAZ itself. Plus it gives me ideas for renders, scenes, etc. And it most importantly, reminds me of things I've forgotten that I own. People with a younger brain might not have that problem, lol.

Just a HU, in case you don't have it yet, the indie game license is on sale in the current 1 day only promotion.
