...no.  It is on the shore of Lake Michigan though it has a couple rivers that go through the centre of the city as well.

Looks like a shot from Futurama.

There is a  section called Jones Island however it is more of a peninsula than an actual island.  For years it served as a major fuel terminal as well as home for the city's main sewage plant. Just to the north across the inlet to the Milwaukee river is old Maitland Field, once a downtown airport that in the 1950s became a Nike missile site.  The missiles were there until 1969.  The old airfield is now a park  that hosts the annual MIlwaukee Summerfest.

    The Nike Missile site

As the current Maier Festival Park

was wondering why searching on futurama brought up Milwaukee smiley

I'm afraid my entire knowledgeof Milwaukee comes from a short speech by Alice Cooper in the movie, Wayne's World.

    ...I remember that scene.

Yeah not much remarkable about the city as it is pretty much overshadowed by it's larger neighbour to the south.  A couple TV sitcoms in the 70s and that was about it.

Now when it does get national exposure, it is usually because of the high poverty and crime rate.  Sad, as it used to be a pretty nice place when I grew up there.

Morning. The sea of orange and purple clouds that the sun is soaring toward doesn't look so friendly a little after dawn today :)

    I drew a thing last night :>

Melkezyk - Wyrm of the Lowlands~  Whipped up this new dragon OC for myself, sketchy but I’m happy with it <3

Well, except the upper wings. There shouldn’t be indents on that honestly - makes it look like it’s the underside instead of the topside.

Hey great love the yellows :) and oooh thar be giants at > 3 meters :0

This popped off the render queue, homebrew diff and blinnskin shader seems to work quite OK :)

I just noticed a rather silly mistake in my picture I posted.  I was working on that at 4 in the morning so I guess that explains it.... But that human is apparently nine feet tall in the pic :B

I'll have to fix that tomorrow ><

    Here thar be giants! smiley

    That's what I thought :)

...yeah went out had a couple pints and a great Bloody Mary at this one neighbourhood pub (only 3$ and both spicy and strong).  Came home, made dinner, and the brain is totally starved of oxygen.

    Bloody Mary == Vodka ?

Yes, and tomato juice.  After a debauched night of drinking various explosive mixtures of alcohol you wake up the next morning feeling ugly.  So, you have a Bloody Mary (on the "hair of the dog..." theory) and it has the illusion of making you feel bloody merry.

Didn't realise Happy Days was set in Milwaukee. The others I haven't heard of - guess they didn't make it this side of the pond.

Complaint:  I've become too familiar with my new phone.frown  It's a "smart" phone.  My first.  I actually installed "Twitter" for the first time and started following "Technology" sources and was immediately innundated with piles of tweet crap.  Who has time to read all that crap?  I'm retired and I don't!  God forbid I should follow something stupid like a celebrity.  After a couple of hours of fighting it I managed to get rid of the messages and unconnect from all the sources and left myself with only the "Hubble Telescope" source which seems to be relatively civilized about the number of times it "tweets" in a week.  I can see why they call these things "smart phones"  It's because by comparison they're smarter than the addicted masses of people who use them.  And now I see this new fad of chasing virtual Pukee Monsters and wonder how soon before somebody walks off a cliff or into a treestump grinder.  We're being brainwashed, people. surprise Wake up!!!

Bah humbug... what was wrong with phone booths?

Right, with a uperstructure and an immediately available power source there was all sorts of mind-control stuff we could do with those. I mean potentially there was all sorts of mind control stuff that could have been done with those.
