I have some idea of what your talking about, because I am in a similar boat, just in another storm. - I'm on the meds, I see the doc, I have one on ones with the therapist. My job is good, but at the same time, it doesn't help my psychological well being in some respects. Mainly the whole nights aspect, though I Like it, because I'm often alone, not many people around me, its also a negative for the same reason. I've only recently been pushing myself, mainly on the advice of the docs. I'm very sick of feeling this way, The anxiety/Nervousness over petty things, the overwhelming nausea, the sleeping issues.

Sleeping issues, yeah, I know very well what you mean. It's hell on Sunday (a paradox...), when the bells are ringing, the noise from the traffic drones on, and you try to sleep, because you work when most people are asleep. So, I haven't had a normal day for a long time. Even the thought of turning the day when your shift is over is impossible to me. I stay awake at night, and sleep when I can during the day, because my internal clock is set for somewhere between the west-coast of the US and Hawaii.

At the same time, I fear getting a different job might mean unemployment, due to the fact that every other job is unsafe. So, here I am, at the last leg of my spare-time, fully awake at 02.00 AM and not getting to bed until morning. Knowing from experience I don't think I'll see the sun before my scheduled vacation in October, just a few weeks from now!! I decided to make my vacation when every other person has finished their vacations, holidays etc. and are at full swing, just because this is the worst time of the year. And I got at least some sun in the summer (late afternoon/evening).

I wonder what it's like to have a normal schedule. Glad I have a hobby that makes me focus on stuff I think is cool.

FYI, I was browsing an online map March last year, and boy was I surprised when I discovered that 'helvete' (literal translation= Hell), is a place in many parts of Norway. I suspect somebody is having a joke at Gulesider.no's expense, hahaha!! Just zoom in and you'll see what I mean:

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/norse_graphics/5560878944/in/set-72157626000990942

I found 25 references. Go to their website at http://kart.gulesider.no/, type in the word, and be baffled. I don't think the owners of the website knows about this.

I thought you'd be doing shift rotations as a cop... The Aussie cops deter me from the job, One reason being that they ALL MUST work in shift rotations (Unless your high up like a Sergent or Senior Sergent) The MUST work One week all day shift 6am-6pm and One week of all nights 6pm-6am. This rotates fortnightly, NO EXCEPTIONS. As far as I'm aware, there is NO part time and no casual. Usually always 5 days a week. (Varies due to staffing requirements so sometimes it may be more).

I would be really screwed up with my body clock If I did that! Just Nights is bad enough in security.

You know whats stupid... I'm making the bow that is used in the hunger games film... And surprisingly there is not all that many usable images to reference to bow design! I would have thought a weapon used by a leading character would have heaps of pictures in google of it! Luckly the design is pretty basic. The bows of LOTR have heaps of pics. HG only really has images of fan made ones.

It's illegal to work more than 200 hours overtime pr. year here. The average work pr. week is 37.5 hours excluding overtime. So, I work 70 hours a week, two weeks in a month, averaging around 140-145 hours depending on the length of the month. 12 hours every day for a month are about 360 hours, that's more than double of how much we work here. Any cop working this much would be thrown out, and the employer fined... Reason is that it's very easy to get burned out. I remember when I worked 12 consecutive days, 2 days rest and one full week. That gave me a reason to not burn yourself out completely. Besides, the taxation of overtime is 50% or so, so it doesn't really pay off to work extra when you get lousy returns for your hours.

Then I have zero interaction with people when working, and due to sleep-patterns that has grown on me, I'm very likely to have very little interaction during my free week as well. Of course it varies as I pull myself together when there are certain social importance, like family. Since last time I logged off from work, I spent the day after work (on the 20'th) to look for some shops for a specific computer. After not finding what I wanted, I went back home, then woke up on Friday and went to the one place I knew they had a decent computer with lots of memory (12 Gig's). From then on I have been home, setting things up; like installing the most important piece (DS4.5Pro), along Photoshop CS4 and 3DS Max 2013 on it. All 64-bit to maximize what I can use. The past 4-5 days I've been watching Discovery Sciene, eating, sleeping and setting things up in DAZ Studio.

Well, I'm gonna have some time off from later part of October to November (3 weeks), so I might socialize a bit more than I do now (no pun!!).

    ***

On a stupid note, I was watching Discovery Science, and they have this programme were they show off how the future is going to be, like:

"Ohhhh, and in the future, your CAR will be intelligent!"

The car tells you look sleepy and there's a gas-station just ahead. I felt like I'm gonna punch that plastic head if it gets on my nerves.

Not to mention BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH, when you're flashing away on the super highway, in a computer controlled car, and it gets a virus during an update. <*facepalm*>

I really gets techno-luddite when I watch these stupid programs, when everything is hooked up, and a hacker can stream YouPorn with YOU as the actor to the internet!! From your own home. <*sigh*>

The ONLY non-stupid thing is Asimo, I can really dig a robot that does the chores, and any update it gets from ME is through cable and a firewall...

I really think people are stupid if they all go 'Wowser' using WiFi, as to me it's the equivalent of jumping of a pier during a category 9-flood. Do they think streaming their stuff on the air is safe??? Now, that's stupid.

On a different stupid note from this part of the world...

14 new NH-90 helicopters were ordered back in 2001, only one has so far been delivered. 8 of these should have gone to the coast guard, and the other 6 to the air force. The one they got is probably servicing in the air force, while the coast guard is using a Lynx, which has been in service for 30 years. The defense ministry are in talks with the producers of the Lynx to make it work for 2-4 more years. Imagine the loooong coast and only one helicopter to service those stretches of water... Now, that's stupid. I wonder what NH Industries are doing.... Maybe they should cancel that billion € order and get in touch with Sikorsky Aircraft and get the HH-60J Jayhawk (which is suitable for sea-rescue operations).

    ...more stupid.

...still waiting to see the shiny new buses our transit system has been hyping up since late Spring that were supposed to be in service by now.

...however, last Saturday, with their help, the city opened a new extension of the totally useless streetcar line we have. Basically it goes from an upscale condo development, to an upscale shopping district, and now to a museum. Meanwhile schedule frequency on a number of bus lines was reduced (again) and fares were increased (again) this month

...also one local dept store chain here already has Christmas stuff on the shelves a few aisles down form all the Halloween stuff. (haven't seen any Valentine's cards or Easter baskets...yet).

So, I watched the hunger games. Not a bad movie. I really liked the architecture, the train, the set design... The props were good. I not happy with the film score (Soundtrack) I think it was significantly underused. There were far too many scenes where score (Which wasn't used) really would have helped the emotion, and make the film flow. TOO MANY silent scenes! Hate it when films do that, we have sound effects and score for a reason!

The romance in the cave, for me, there wasn't much of a lead in. The book had this scene written really well, the short lived film scenes on that romantic section of the book were rather abrupt and didn't allow the audience to feel as emotionally attached to that.

I also noticed the actors were talking a little to fast, it was hard to keep up in the conversations, And I'm 22, so thats saying something. Responses to another comments shouldn't be so instant in my opinion.

Not that I will complain about the following, however, the book certainly covered that the arena was not all that glamorous, fights are dirty, killing is messy. The film tamed this down excessively. I wish they didn't limit their audience to the more younger borderline Parental Guidance / Mature Audiences. But, when it was released, it was done so in the holiday breaks.

One thing I really despised... And not just referring to the film, I hate hate hate the peace-keeper (Police) uniforms! They ARE NOT horse riders or Jokeys! Come on seriously!

Other than that, I was happy with the casting, and I did imagine the characters in the book looking just like them.
All in all... Not a bad viewing.

    Indeed!

Anyway, I searched for 'peacekeeper' in the Hunger Games category, but it gave pic's from the movie, not the book. What do they look like (I don't have the books.....)? I imagine that they'd look very futuristic and in sharp contrast to the 'peasants', and the movie certainly gave that vibe!

On another note, the soundtrack during the end-credits here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TYpy-24NdY

    Quite appropriate for this movie!!

Lastly, I agree with your points, not because I have read the books - but mainly because I know the cut things to fit their designated audience. Maybe if they made a 'directors cut' with everything you listed, it would be a blast - but certainly NOT suitable for the padawans.

Edit. I was amused that they saluted with the Scout's honor.

Um, that has been a free item. I know it has been, because I've downloaded it. It is possible that the free-period has expired in store's setup and it needs to be set free again.

Edit. I was amused that they saluted with the Scout's honor.

I did like the ending soundtrack, it definitely works for the film, I just wish they didn't use score 'occasionally' Silent scenes loose a lot of emotion from the viewer, as the viewer can only go by visual effects, and when there are many scenes that are silent even without sound effects, I think that somewhat degrades the experience.

The film appears to have reasonably designed the uniform of the peace keepers true to the book. I remember disagreeing with it when I was reading... And I ignored several little lines of description on that aspect and Imagined them in my own way. I would have expected the film to have made more visual and practical improvements in terms of the design of the PK uniform. (They are supposed to be law enforcement/military! I don't even recall seeing a firearm let alone a duty belt).

A directors cut or an adult version would be good. But I can understand why they went the way they did. From the film perspective, They'd want to target the most viable age market. I think they could have targeted a little higher, considering the plot and adult themes. They'd immediately assume that pretty much any movie with the lead characters under 18 that it is a teen movie (Something I do disagree with).

On another note, the book was well written tackling a more derogatory setting (The government slaying children in an effort displaying dominance, superiority and power, all over an uprising rebellion in the past and as a deterrent for future uprisings) The film seemingly avoided what they could, I can understand why. If they showed the darker aspects of the book, the filthy and grisly dark moments, they'd risk being crucified by the media, and loose it's targeted younger audience.

It should also be noted that there were definitely some psychologically disturbed competitors who chose to be in the arena, they were covered significantly more in the book, by the ending of the arena, Cato the last bad guy, was MUCH more intimidating and disturbed. He seemed more like a viable antagonist in the final battle of the book.

Our dear Chohole may be Admin but even they can and will be Clubbed by other Admin's and Mod's. Tis a rather large group of folks. Kind of a built in safety check thing, so no one person can go overboard with stuff.

Now back to the regularly scheduled Stupidity.

Luckily of course I do still have old PC box sitting on the floor, just need to couple it up to a couple of spare bits, like a monitor keyboard and mouse, insert the USB plug of an external and do some more backing up, so all is not lost, just more time to find.

Has anyone seen any spare time knocking around.

That point is taken. I'm working on arrow head v2 now, 1 and 1.5 totally flopped on me. I never thought arrow heads would be such a pain to make.
