Just FI, when I get bored and frustrated I tend to do radical things to fix that situation.

So, to make sure my reputation as running off to ruin my life doing wildly crazy things, I've decided to buy Houdini Indue and get a copy of Nuke non-commercial and learn to be a visual effects artist to augment my writing and music income. indecision

Been waning to work in VFX for years.. known a few travelling VFX/video editor types in my life and it will pay the bills if I can get a steady stream of jobs.

This will mean an investment in hardware and software, along with time, and I'll be learning and cranking out portfolio projects while I continue to contract out as a programmer, write, and compose music. surprise

I want to be out of programming, forever, in 5 years.  That is my plan. devil

...I hear Houdini is a PITA to learn.

Houdini is a nightmareish mix of programming and art, you need to be a bit of an engineer to understand its procedural process but if you can get past that, it's insanely powerful.  Houdini artists ae hard to find, bt if ou want the best fluid dynamics/particle systems on the planet, you need Houdini.

It runs great on my quad-core i7 with the NVidia GTX850, glad I coughd up for the 4GB of VRAM... indecision

...kind of sounds like Blender in a way.  Think I'll stick to struggling with Hexagon's instabilities along with Daz and Carrara instead.

I always wanted to be a tram driver, you always know where you're going and when you get there you just drive right back :)

If my eyes were perfect and my foot worked, I'd go to truck driving school and do long haul cross-country truck driving!  Since I have no kids, no wife, no girlfriend, and no significan other it would be the perfect fit.  Modern semis have Internet, integrated smartphones, and a sleeping cab that's better than some flophouse hotels I've stayed in!!

Alas, I have to play he hand I'm dealt... indecision

...yep they're hiring all right. I keep getting several referrals a day from each of my job search sites and I don't have a licence.

At least the unsettled stormy weather has ended, and summer is supposed to return to greet the new month.

Complaint:  Still trying to figure out my hospital bill.  Hospital sent me a bill for $1777.  Insurance company sent me a summary of payments saying that the hospital billed them $4744 but they only paid $375.  Insurance summary also says "NOTE: We have denied all or part of this claim.  However you are not responsible for paying the billed amount"  WTF???  So, are they saying I don't owe the Insurance company the difference ($4744-$375 = $4369)?  If so, that's good news. smiley

The hospital however still says that I owe them $1777 (all billed items on the hospital bill match the items on the insurance company summary).  I'm so confused! crying  But there might be light at the end of the tunnel.  The hospital has a form to fill out that essentially lets me plead poverty (form indicates I qualify) and they'll cover 100% of the bill that they sent me, but that I may need to "cooperate" with the NYS Medicaid office. surprise  Oy!  Why can't getting old and senile be simpler instead of more complex? sad  I think my best revenge is to die completely broke owing as much as possible. devil

I am sick of difficult people in my life and cannot seem to get rid of them.  Maybe I should treat them how I want to be treated verses how they deserve or how they treat me.

That was suggested once, a very long time ago, by someone we've all heard of.  wink

    Dana

I always kinda think difficult people aren't talking to me but to father mother whoever who traumatised them some day way back when,  but that doesn't make them any less difficult to deal with, iz just not personalizing other people's stuff :)

Monday, blech, ecch, barf, feh.  indecision Overcast and muggy, hunderstorms off and on throughout the week.

So far no serious fallout from announcing my intention to clean up and leave.  With any luck Friday will be my last day playing Mr. Book Report and I can get to finding a job where I actually DEVELOP SOFTWARE. I get the feeling that nobody really cares and that it was just a token attempt to deconstruct things, being stuck in a desk in the hall is always a sign that you're just a tiny cog in a big machine.  Feh.

One resume' out for a contract in Peachtree City, GA. - one for a contract here in Austin - and one for a contrct in Woodland Hills, CA.  I'm bad, I'm nationwide, as the ZZ Top song goes.  Need to get that 2-page summary resume' done in a few days, I don't plan on going full court press in the job search until next week.. in fac I'd love to take a week and do nothing at all!! surprise

Friday on the way home, I'm going to find some way to get into a boozeatorium and get a bottle of top-end wodka for my "end of contract" party.  Normally I'd go to the strip club, but I can't get the scooter into the place (no ramp up the stairs) so it'll be party at home all weekend. devil

Tying clean-up notes and final documents this week while setting up my job search, downloading some tools so I can code at home to keep my skills sharp, general prep for several weeks of looking for work.  Stress level - fairly low now that I don't feel the crush of an impossible job! laugh

ps. Houdini is a bear to learn - it's not like any other 3D app I've touched.  Wild stuff, though..

I thought you needed longer to get and pay for the prosthetic and other related bills?  Well, good for you, then!  Stress sucks.  Literally, sucks the life out of you.

    Dana

THink I would have coped better with the bug if I hadn't had such a stressful few weeks so yes :)

After a couple of days, I can say that our approach is the least likely to cause our head to explode!!! surprise

Everything is done through operators, you stack 'em up and build things with them.  Figuring out what things to use where is a pain, thankfully there are 8 million tutorials from SifeFx and third parties, all that helps.

    Still.. brain hurts. crying

Tuesday and another 3 resumes sent out just this morning.  What a way to wake up, ouch, haven't even had my first cuppa! surprise

Chicken wings (leftover) for breakfast, actually goes well with the coffee.  Slowly waking up, is drear and overcast.. really wanted to sleep in. Snzzzz.. better suck down the free coffee while I can!

More clean-up work and final note-taking, not real exciting but The End Is Near and that makes it more tolerable.  Meh. indecision

Ambient Online Compilation 6 is RELEASED on Bandcamp!  https://ambientonline.bandcamp.com/album/ambient-online-compilation-volume-6 Shameless self-promotion!!laugh

Getting two phone calls from headhunters today, one at 10AM and one at 11:30AM.  So much for a quiet week, but it's OK I guess.

    More coffee.. lots more coffee..
