Sipping mint tea to try to relax, seems to help a bit.  Working on my resume' as well, I need to come up with a single-page or two-page teaser. frown

My goal is to turn in my 2 weeks notice within a week of getting my foot prostesis.  I'm going to update my online resume' over the weekend and turn on my "available for new work" flag that lets recruiters find me.  I'd prefer a full-time job, but that takes a lot longer to find so I'm of two minds about it.

I finally came up with an understandable way to describe his job, last night online, FINALLY people get it!

Assume your boss came to you and handed you a book that was over 90 thousand lines long - a big, thick, dry book - and told you that you had to write a summary of the plot, all major and minor points, and provide diagrams and charts on the flow of the important bits.  The books subject is dull as dishwater and you can't read more than about 10 pages before your head hurts and you grind your jaws and tense your muscles until the stress gives you headaches and screws with your sleep.

And the deadline is not that far off, there's nobody to help you, and only a ew notes hidden throughout the book that sometimes - not always - decribe something that MIGHT be going on.

    Welcome to my job.

    ...another reason I left programming.

I've got to find a new career, even at 57 I should be ble to re-train for something that at least involves a kind of idiocy I haven't had to deal with before.. after 35+ years, I swear I've done and seen every stupid thing you can do involving programming.

If I can make $500 a week, I can get along decently enough to be happy.  Sems like a reasonable goal. smiley

Just FI, when I get bored and frustrated I tend to do radical things to fix that situation.

So, to make sure my reputation as running off to ruin my life doing wildly crazy things, I've decided to buy Houdini Indue and get a copy of Nuke non-commercial and learn to be a visual effects artist to augment my writing and music income. indecision

Been waning to work in VFX for years.. known a few travelling VFX/video editor types in my life and it will pay the bills if I can get a steady stream of jobs.

This will mean an investment in hardware and software, along with time, and I'll be learning and cranking out portfolio projects while I continue to contract out as a programmer, write, and compose music. surprise

I want to be out of programming, forever, in 5 years.  That is my plan. devil

    TGIF!!!!

need to pick up a cooking thermometer to make sure water is 80F to activate yeast, but not too hot to kill yeast.
if the bus isn't too late today, can get off at Target for a quick dash in/dash out. as fast as i can dash walking with a cane.  sucks gettin old.

  • SerpentSerpent Posts: 4,075

Sent out for Chinese, potstickers and BBQ ribs with a side of wonton soup.  Should be filling.

Houdini downloaded, Nuke non-commercial downloaded, grabbed SONAR X3 (I own a license) so I can stably score films as Tracktion chokes and dies on video.  Checking Newegg for a machine that'll do basic video editing, need a high-speed hard drive or a massive SSD... tons of RAM would help as well.

Stress headache again, third day in a row.  This job blows.

Crikey, starting up a Wright Duplex Cyclone seems to take less effort than getting the spell checker here to work.

...ugh, rain and chilly weather are back and I can feel it.  Stayed in bed late today because all my joints were stiff and achy.

Supposed to be 39º and stormy Sunday morning   Really want to cancel out on the session I am supposed to attend and just stay in.  In the area of town I need to go to, the sidewalks flood and become useless when it rains, so I have to walk in the street with cars often speeding by me for about 8 blocks (and in this area of town people tend to drive really stupid).

This is why I could never live in the burbs here.

Good morning everyone, and a slayful St George's Day to all.

I have an urge to slay a DAZ_Dragon or two before breakfast - you never know, there may be a golden hoard beneath its smoking carcass . . . Now fetch me my trusty steed and armour, forsooth, (cunning olde English "Shakespeare" reference since today is also the 400th anniversary of his death) I feel a battle coming on!

Oh, and scrambled eggs on toast, with two rashers of bacon.

Having to use a thermometer to test the water for yeast!  What is that sound I hear?  Oh it is my mother and her mother and her mother and so on turning over in their graves, kids now days.

Now for a useful tip.  Don't use tap water as that often has too much chlorine in it and that is far worst for the yeast than getting the temperature a bit off.
