They have a lot of Poser-only products that (would) work okay in Studio except for Inject PMD. The little utility we used to use in Studio 3 doesn't work in4+
Eek battery light just went on on my keyboard. Hope I have some fresh ones.
Not that happy. If you merge two shops, you won't get a bigger shop. No, you'll loose one shop.
Ugh yes I want the missing items from the Aeon Soul catalogue to return!
Only after marriage and with lights out... ;-P
thanks Jack doesn't really bother me if only for here always plenty here for me to choose from here to use my coupons on just thought I'd ask on behalf of other PC+ members
Aeon Soul has stated that the products removed from RDNA will no longer have support or be sold- they want to concentrate on the new versions of the figures, not the old. Don't think that's going to happen.
I doubt it too - things that went missing when they moved from Rero to RDNA stayed missing ...
I have alot of RDNA products I would like to see new teradome with daz support. It would be nice to see my products at rdna as smart content.
Rumor has it that Aeon Soul is contemplating a new character along the lines of their V4 Alice, but for Genesis 3 Female.
Part me has wondered why they don't just release the really old stuff as either freebies or even donationware on a place like Gumroad, but then I remembered that I often delete my older artwork when I've moved on from something (mostly fandoms) and would rather focus on moving forward, so I don't blame them there.
Still, if this means I can properly install some of the stuff I bought from them on RDNA via DIM or Daz Connect, I'll be happy.
I've only purchased a few things from RDNA in the past.
I don't know how to feel about the merger. The first thing I thought about was encryption being added to their products.
The only way to dominate the market is to either assimilate or run other businesses into the ground.
Either way, welcome to Daz, RDNA. :)
I figured but I think it's still worth stating that some customers are interested in some of those older items. I'm a huge fan of their mix and match multilayer type outfits. That said pretty much everything they make is really high quality and released here now so new stuff is great too.
Aeon Soul has done the whole dropping products and moving on before. Believe me, there's a huge list of their history I'd love to buy. I'm glad I have the outfits I do, since they'll likely never be available to purchase ever again.
Since DAZ is not going to be able to sell those Aeon Soul products will we still be able to download them here? Probably half of my RDNA catalog is stuff created by Aeon Soul and I hope they will be available for download instead of having to depend on backups.
If they're in your RDNA purchase history, they'll be migrated to your library here.
Regarding 'dark themes'... Daz store has LOADS of fairly dark stuff.
Consider:
http://www.daz3d.com/jane-d-o-a
http://www.daz3d.com/severed-man
http://www.daz3d.com/zombie-walker
http://www.daz3d.com/terror-eyes-for-genesis-2
Plus lots of demons, werewolves, distorted aliens, plantmen, ratpeople, all sorts of wacky stuff.
Yeah I found this whole talk of "dark themes" confusing too. I mean Daz doesn't like to use certain words or allow nudity in promos but there's no shortage of creepy horror evil figures or ridiculously skimpy outfits for Victoria
and then there's http://www.daz3d.com/taurette-for-genesis-2-female-hd
RawArt is unrivalled in so many ways.
I agree, plenty of stuff on the dark side here, look at http://www.daz3d.com/severed-man, the promos don't come much more horror themed than these
This is TERRIBLE news. RDNA has its own flavor and the products on that site are VERY different from DAZ products. There is a lot of Poser stuff, especially in the way of unique props, environments and clothing and characters for M4/V4. That store has a totally different feel, the deals are much more affordable and nicely presented so that you know what's going on...I don't understand the point of merging two very distinct stores. Why are you doing this?
A huge problem I have with DAZ is the lack of notifications. With RDNA, Renderosity and other sites, I can choose to be notified by email whenever one of the items on my wish list goes on sale, for any kind of price drop. With DAZ, products are so expensive that I'm only able to buy them once or twice a year, and on top of that, they offer NO way of finding out when sales are on (aside from manually checking your wish list every single day, which is absurd). I was only able to buy RDNA's incredible Terradome products because I received an email during their pre-holiday sale that told me all of those items were available at a discount. I practically bought the whole Terradome store that day. With DAZ, I've contacted vendors to ask when things might be going on sale only to be told I just missed one - yet how was I supposed to know when I don't have time to sit there and scroll through my wish list every 24 hours?
DAZ has also completely forsaken Poser and generation 4 at this point, which is disappointing. A lot of the environments and props on here are still great for me but I don't use Genesis, which means that most of the clothing, characters and hair on this site these days are not for me. RDNA was the opposite and having it be its own site made it much easier to look through the options there that were applicable to my renders.
This whole thing is just depressing. Granted, I don't know the politics behind the choice, if RDNA was experiencing financial difficulties, etc. but on the surface it seems totally unnecessary and counterproductive to merge these two very different marketplaces.
In the last month I think I've bought maybe 1/3 of Raw's catalog. ;)
Exactly. Good for business I am sure. And I don't hate them for it. RNDA tends to have more interesting products than here at Daz.
But Daz is a very sterile convervative draconian site, and RDNA was always very expressive, creative and artistic. To people who say daz has dark themes, I think you are missing a lot. It's not about indivudual crummy products, it's the entire feel and support for themes in a genuine way. RNDA had some great lines on their site. RNDA was never scared of embracing ART, Daz still is :/
I do wish them luck on the merger. But I really can't find it in me to actively support Daz or any of their partners anymore. If I can't be expressive on an "art" site/forum and only expected to be a dumb consumer, there is no way I can really invest in that treatment. Even if some of the partners are some of my most cherished and respected artists in this niche.
I still render here and there, still have a few years left in my plat membership. I'll be around. Maybe I'll be tempted by something unique, brave and exciting :)
My biggest concern with buying items elsewhere has always been the inability to keep track of the stuff I have. I buy something, and in a year I won't even remember having it. Even though RDNA has items that are of interest to me. With this merge, if everything will be available at one place, I'm surely going to buy RDNA items, that I would not have bought otherwise.
Does anyone know when items will start showing up at Daz?
When the final Aeon Soul sale hit, I spent more than I should getting as much AS out of my wishlist as possible :) Didn't quite get everything though :(
Love RDNA's clown set (Thr3e, 4our, Killjoy, etc.)
I'm a little late in hearing about this. I have to say I was shocked to go over to Runtime and find out that Deep Freeze was already seems to be gone! I had several things waiting in my wishlist and now I guess I won't be getting them. I'll be reserving judgement to see how everything else plays out as the stores work through the merger process.
I'm glad they didn't delete this post because it expresses my sentiments exactly. I'm a user and buying customer of both sites. I hope RDNA doesn't get the PPros treatment. I really enjoyed that site's forum and store.
Daz bought PoserPros in 2005. PoserPros stayed open till 2008 when the store was sort of migrated to ArtZone. From what I can tell the forums and galleries were around in archive form till 2010. Yet I keep seeing this reaction like PPros was shut down overnight or something.
It is quite possible that we end up with the best of both worlds. I am going to be cautiously optomistic on this one, it might come back to bite me in butt later but hey I could stand to lose some
And just how many years ago was this Poser pros thing? 7 or so yes? And the people who owned and ran Daz were totaly different people yes? The store here has been totaly revamped since then as well so it isn't even the same store tech. How can something that happend that long ago involving people no longer here and a totaly different store system be relivant? Its like saying "oh well my old grocery store rang everything up by hand and made mistakes so now that this new grocery has started selling the products I bought there I expect to see all sorts of hand rung errors". Even though the new store rings everything up with a scanner.
I don't get it either. I keep seeing stuff about a 'history' of Daz shutting down sites, and one site in all these years does not count as a 'history'. Nor was it 'shut down' the way I keep seeing posts imply.
I'm not really thrilled with it either, and not because of the store. RuntimeDNA forums provided a pretty good place to talk without big brother and now that they're merged, I feel like our landscape has gone from a sprawling ecosystem to penned enclosure. I don't really buy enough products from RDNA to be affected, but I will miss the forums.
