Well, I'll miss certainly RDNA's deep freeze selection if it goes away, but there are a lot of great items in the RDNA store that have really been crying out for full DS compatibility, and DIM for my RDNA products would be fantastic.

Will this mean that my RNDA products will become available to install via DIM?

Also will RNDA now work on a DS version of TerraDome?

Whilst I see many positives in this move, it does make the DAZ marketplace a step closer to a monopoly in DS/Poser products, which is obvious not a great thing.

Monopoly only if merge Renderosity  and ContentParadise too. devil

True, which is why I said a step closer. In terms of new releases ContentParadise is pretty minor, so really Rendo, and to a lesser extent Hivewire, remains the only meaningful alternate stores.

Wow! Totally did not see that coming!

Now..."merge"...does that mean RDNA vendors will now be DAZ vendor automatically? And also, does this mean that @DAZ_Syyd will continue to create her awesome amazing "beautiful monsters" series (Domina, Lucrezia etc) and possibly port them over to G3F and iray? (fingers crossed!!!!)

I am going to miss the Real Deals, the Deep Freeze and Permanent Freebie items.  DAZ is a little less lenient when it comes to older Poser items (I <3 my Aiko 3), and RDNA's always had much ebtter sales and a long list of old content available on the site, which is, again, great for me.

I like the Deep Freeze stuff aswell, I wonder if they could be dragged in to an expanded PC club, aggh yet more stuff for us hapless users to speculate about!

    Very nice to hear.

edit: never mind, found the other thread

We are working to link up customer accounts between the two sites, and as we migrate products over they will be added to your account here at Daz.

    Great.

What does this mean for the HW Dusk, Dawn and Luna products at RDNA...are they to be banished into the wilderness or welcomed as legitimate products by Daz? And will I be still able to download those products I bought in the future?

I'm kind of curious what'll happen with vendors who left Daz to go to Runtime.

    Hmmm.

  • What a surprise!  There are a lot of great people and great talent at RDNA.

They'll probably run off to Renderosity, though I suspect they may find it a bit stifling there, due to some issues I've been seeing from a former Rendo vender.

    I am dumbfounded.

I hope it works well for all parties involved.

    But I still remember Poser-Pros.

Gotta love the atmosphere of "Poser support is doomed!" in the RDNA forums.  I sort of wonder if this move is a way of getting more Poser supported content and content makers into the store here.

In general, I see this as a good thing...

But I'm curious if theres anything that (as far as anyone knows) won't come over to the Daz store.  There's a handful of Arki items (among others) that I've had my eye on (for far too long) that I'll need to fish or cut bait on soon if they're not coming over here.

  • Given that Arki has content here, it shouldn't be an issue. I'm more worried about the artists who went to RDNA as a cutting ties with DAZ move.

One of the reasons I don't post my art here is the uber convervative value of this site.  RDNA traditionally has a more liberal view of the artwork we post. Will this affect the original Term Of Service at RNDA or will my gallery at RNDA be decimated because of the Daz TOS?

    JV

We currently have no plans to change the way the forums or gallery at Runtime are working or run.  We honestly will have to watch how that develps out over time to decide.

Well, we know what currently have no plans means.

  • Happy for you Sydd, However pretty sure that's the final nail in the coffin of my 3D purchases. RDNA was the last remaining major vendor site I utilized, since rendo's nightmarish user-unfriendly site overhaul and out of touch customer service, daz's focus on DIM only items and the whole "encrypted" thing had made RDNA the last bastion of customer friendly purchasing. Sorry to see it end but wish you and yours the best of luck.

  • Reawakens the nightmare of what happened to Poser Pros

While I mostly use DS, I hope it does signal increased Poser support. Lately it has seemed like DAZ has been moving further and further from its Poser roots

As Steve posted on the first page of this thread:

We will be migrating old Poser content, and accepting new Poser content.

    Good question!

  • So will Daz actually accept products for non-Daz figures, like Dawn and Poser native figures?

Mmm, it's not really a monopoly considering that there are a few other marketplaces out there, not to mention other sites servicing specific niches. DAZ, and RuntimeDNA, are technically niche sites within the greater CG community.

Marvel and DC are technically niche companies within the publishing community and their merger wouldn't officially be a monopoly.  Would still be bad for the comic industry :)
