This product looks fantastic - glad to see it available in the store :) All the pictures look very realistic, but almost all looks like hair that is dry (too much sun, too many perms...) - is it possible to add shine with this product and create a picture of someone who has realistic looking hair with shine? Thanks! -Cathy
There are several different shine/top coat settings with this set, Cathy. :)
I just checked with Marketing and there will be an additional discount for those who have previously bought UHT (1). I'm not too sure on the details, but they set it up for me despite me asking for it last minute, so Big Cookie for Daz Marketing.
Thanks, Slosh. I really appreciate the discount for owners of UHT (basically, it is an extra 15% off for the first 48 hours) and I will be picking UHT2 up today.
Picked up both as soon as I saw it this morning. The extra discount was greatly appreciated. Really looking forward to diving into this! And the videos are very very much appreciated they will make it much easier to dive right in.
Ya I woke up around 2:30 and seen the Genx addons as released so seen what else was new, needless to say the add on and both of these products went in my cart, I had to force myself to try going back to sleep and not check out and play with them all night, bought them all though installing these now after playing with the new genx add on
That looks really beautiful, RHA :) Out of curiosity, did you do any tiling on it? The higher the tiling setting, the more sleek and soft/shiny the hair will look. I don't think you need it here, but I wanted to ask, mostly to get the information out there :)
This is pretty amazing. I've been trying out various color mixes and noticed that if you apply a mix from the Color Mixer script and then hit Undo, the base color change is undone but the Translucency Color does not get undone.
Yeah, heh... that was kind of an "accidental" feature. Because of the way Color Mixer uses your mix, then applies it to both the Base Color and the Translucency Color channels, hitting undo only removes it from Base Color, and those of us testing found that sometimes the resulting effect at render time looks really good.
Er, wait... let me rephrase that.... "Yeah, I meant to do that"

Cathy, I provided a few basic shine settings from low shine up to high shine (which I found made a lot of hairs look particularly shiny, especially with more lights in the scene). As with any product, some additional tweaking may be needed on the part of the user to adapt settings to your particular scene or hair style, but four good starting points have been included to get you going.
I don't know that I agree that "almost all hair" looks dry, but then that is in the eye of the viewer and up to individual taste :) To you, it may definitely look too dry. I also think, perhaps, that many of us are accustomed to the ultra glossy look that a lot of 3d hair comes with these days. My own taste is that hair which is too shiny looks oily or plastic/artificial, but again that is a personal preference. For my promos, I didn't often apply the higher shine settings because, to my eye, it didn't suit the scene.
Well, I grabbed the Fantasy Colors addon to trigger the extra 4% on a large-ish GC purchase. Now I'm going back for UHT2 itself and GenX G3 addon - just taking me a little while to decide which backcatalog items to add to the cart before I check out...
PS: That Edinburgh guy looks really good - wish Danae was at DAZ3D

I think dry is a fairly greedy term - I have very ... non-dry hair (what there is of it) but the shampoo I need is labelled "normal". Presumably normal hair is "dry" and dry hair is "dessicated".
The Color Mixer in this is a lot of fun. That's an innovative idea, and it works smoothly, too. Those masks look like the heads at the beauty shop, when the beautician's painting on highlights.
I thought this might be going overboard, since I have the predecessor, but it isn't, so I won't feel guilty about adding it. Thanks for the discount.
Looking forward to checking out the hairstyle mixer.
I had the honour or trying it when Slosh was making it and this was an early test render using the Jaycee hair and various colours. Sometimes I turn down the bump and normal settings to get a sleeker look. It adds a little more shine, in my opinion. (But it depends on the hair, lighting, etc) LOVE this product! That ombre render in his main promos is just awesome *_*
So I installed this through Daz Connect, but I'm thinking I should have installed it through DIM. When I watched the first video, I wasn't able to find the product under the directory described. And I just realized that it doesn't show in the Content LIbrary if you install through Daz Conect. Maybe it shows somewhere in the Smart Content, but I haven't found it yet. Think I'll just go and install it through DIM
go to any of the icons in Smart Content and right click... choose Show Product.../in Virtual Folder. It will take you to the place Daz Connect has installed it and will show the directory in Content Libray exactly as it appears in the videos :) I had a trick finding it, myself.
just downloading was thinking this'd be great to use on hairs made out of the two hair creation products garibaldi and lamh and any other products. Anyone tried this on animal/creature hairs and the humanoid creatures like the furs in the creature creators, minotaur, cat people and werewolves? Btw Slosh you sound and look a lot younger than I imagined I pictured you around 50 and looking like Colm
A clip from a gallery render -- I didn't cite the UHT2 in the credits because I'm still learning the product. Wasn't sure if this was a "credit" yet. :-) I think the hair needs more shine.
I've watched videos, but still not clear on which options require tile resetting.

I love this set, absolutely. So much range now put into the hair props it's mind-boggling. And addictive to play with.

I wasn't planning on spending all this money, but first Stonemason and then this... blast you! Heh heh.
And the discount is appreciated!

I'm really liking the blending options.

Yeah, me too... He/She does some really great skins, and I'd like to see what they could do with Iray settings :)
I'm quietly thinking to myself "how many coffees can I not drink this week to afford Stonemason *and* UHT2..."

oh, and I forgot to add... In Smart Content, you must have the hair selected in the scene, then the icons show up under Smart Content/Shaders/Hair
Here is G3F with Laura 3 and g2F Tigerlily
well that's interesting! lol cool :)

lol, angelreaper... I am 46, so I'm not that far off
just slightly older than me aging well
Pffft, you're both babies.
Looking forward to more renders! Loving what I'm seeing so far.

Is it just the cutouts?
That's wild. :-) How'd you get 3 colors to mix? Or is that a trade secret? ;-)
It's just one of the fantasy colors presets. ;) I haven't really done much with the color mixture, just playing around with presets.
Speaking of, this started as a simple UHT2 preset test of the Desideria hair. I got bored of a simple portrait, soooo...
