Today's Complaint: It has turned cold enough that I had to turn on the heat. Second one: I can not think of any good stick to your ribs cold weather food to make for dinner. Chili would be great but I can not have the beans (renal diet) and I do not want a bowl of chili flavored meat. Sigh...

If it's got beans, it's not chili here in Texas.

What kinda pie is it? I may want a piece before you throw it.

I don't know about the pie about to come my way, but the pie I made...

    BACON-PUMPKIN-CHEESE-TOMATO PIE! x 2

    What went to them:
Bacon, lots of it, lightly toasted and chopped (I think about 600 grams or 1 1/2 pounds)
    2 cups of grated pumpkin
1 1/2 cup of Grated Swiss cheese
    Dozen+ cherry tomatoes, chopped
    2 single-clove garlic, chopped
Onion, chopped -- except the first pie had none, as my friend does not like onions, so I added onion only as I was about to stuff the second pie
A cup of sour cream/creme fraiche
    3 eggs
A pinch of salt, a sprinkle of sugar
Some tumeric, paprika for cheery pumpkin color
And some premade, frozen savoury pie dough I pressed into the baking tins.

The above is for two pies.

And it is so much NOM NOM NOM that you wouldn't BELIEVE.

That sounds really good. I'll have to give it a try sometime. I once made a pumpkin mead that I think would go well with it.

You already had me long before the food. But the food is a bonus. It's nice to try some Finland pie!

Ah, pumpkins aren't particularly Finnish, though. But you can replace them and tomatoes with white cabbage and long-grained rice for more authentic feel. :) Whole-grain crushed barley or rye instead of rice, if you're adventurous and want even more authentic feel.

At least it is warm. Took ages to find the thread. Oh, home nao ! L8R :)

I have been watching Season one of MLP:FIM

I am now watching CBS. Not sure why I am watching it right now. It is about a bunch of giants fighting against some brown somethings all over a ball. Am I going crazy or are a bunch of these guys wearing pink gloves and shoes and what not? It looks like some of the guys have pink mouth guards. Also some of them have pink towels. And it is Pinky Pie pink not some that color that is between pink and red.

    what is mlp?

cbs.com is putting the new ncis episodes online, complete with commerials.
they're in season 10, i'll cry if they make this the last season.

i need to watch the first Bab5 episode again, to check if the series started with a battle.

does anyone remember what was the first aired star trek episode?

I am trying to write with this open source program I just got. LibreOffice is what I am trying. I have a bit over seven hundred words written. I need to write much more and introduce some kind of plot. How many words are in a novella?

several submission guidelines i've seen say 80 - 120,000 words. ... but, i think those are full novels, though, not novellas.

Beans just never belong in a bowl of chili. Chili, called a bowl of red, is our state food.
