I got to stay home today! I pushed myself too hard on Saturday. I was in a lot of pain with no pain relief but I kept plowing forward. Forward to the next paycheck. (Actually getting hours on my paycheck. More hours means more $$$$)
complaint: The dew point this morning was 81 degrees. It was 80 F out when Little Dude and I left just before dawn for our walk. (As a point of reference, low 70s dewpoints are considered tropical. Upper 70s are considered oppressive. Minnesota has only had 28 total hours of 80+ dew point since 1945. The highest ever recorded was 82.)
non-complaint: I was not enjoying that weather at all while it was happening, and now I feel extremely validated.

@LeatherGryphon - yeah, no lie. I was thinking just throwing myself in the lake might be less wet. It was a "breathe and you'll drown" kind of morning. We get a lot of humidity in the summer, but oof.
Poor Little Dude had been on the steps waiting for it to get light enough to go since 9:30 the night before, and then we get out there and get THAT.
That shower when we got home felt MIGHTY good though!
Complaint: I'm spring cleaning my bathroom. Yeah, yeah, I know, late. But I see mold creeping onto the outside & backside of the toilet tank and the only way to deal with that is to move everything out of the bathroom i.e. rugs, boxes of paper goods, implements of destruction, weight scale, and clutter on the sink & toilet top. It took perhaps 15 minutes of moving and vacuuming rugs & floor but I am pooped (perhaps not a good word considering it's the bathroom), exhausted, woozy. Time to sit down for a while and recuperate. I still have to dig out my bucket and cleaning liquids & tools, and find a face mask for mold protection, remove the toilet top to be able to get to the back side of the toilet tank, flush out the inside of the toilet tank, scrub the mold from the outside of the complete toilet, mop & sterilize the complete toilet and floor and entire room to keep the mold from restarting, then let it dry, and clean & replace all the things removed from the room. Not sure I'll make it before bedtime. Old age sucks! I tried to find a local business to come and do it for me but nobody returned my calls. Unfortunately, this is not a landlord problem.
Complaint: Next week it's the kitchen's turn. The kitchen is actually pretty clean but I haven't moved the refrigerator or stove in eighteen years. I hate to wiggle gas lines.
Non-complaint: It's been at least a month, going on two since I've had a bloody nose. Yay! Maybe after nearly two years, I'm healed.
Hour and a half later:OK, floor soapy cleaned, and rinsed, now drying, However long-handled sponge mop wouldn't fit in tight corners around the toilet so, later when cleaning mold I'll tackle that area on hands & knees with a sponge. Still not sure I'll be done by bedtime. My poor old body doesn't like this much activity.
Four more hours later: Yay! Floor rinsed, baseboards scrubbed & rinsed, toilet bowl exterior cleaned & sanitized(Clorox), most of tank cleaned & sanitized, but I have no tool thin enough to scrub the back of tank next to the wall. I'll get (or make) some sort of special brush to squeeze into there and try again later this week. Wheee...,at least it's clean & sparkly again on all visible fronts. Bathroom partially put back together again. Will finish bathtub/shower tomorrow after baseboards dry completely before putting down the rugs & boxes of paper goods. Bathtub is currently full of cleaning instruments of destruction (pail, mop, rags, sponges, rubber gloves) drying after being washed. Time for last cup of tea.
Complaint: I stopped by local fast food place for lunch. Note that I still work there, sort of. I do a handful of shifts a month now I'm working at the library. I forgot my phone there. I should have called the store as soon as I got to the library but it might've been too late. (This part is on me.) Apparently the phone was picked up by another, non-local guest, who then called Husband. They couldn't figure out where the library was, so decided to take it back to the restaurant, not an unreasonable idea. The afternoon manager - who knows me, they all do because, you know, I work there - refused to take it because "this isn't a drop off place."

Rude.Did you ever get it back?
Not yet. I'm hoping they'll call back. I've tried a couple times myself. I'm also going to make sure tomorrow my store manager knows how annoyed I am the guy wouldn't just take the dang phone & put it in the office.
Worst case, I will get a new phone. We're with one of the prepaid companies so they'll probably have some models for free. If not, the phones they sell in stores for maybe $50 come with a free year of service. (The yearly card alone costs $125.)

Ouch... I'm so sorry. I don't suppose you accidentally dragged it into a different folder and it's hiding there? I've done that a time or two.

It's intestinal sphincters like that that make work un-necessarily unpleasant. Arrange for a stack to drop near them.

Some people have not caught the memo that it costs nothing to be kind, apparently.

Observation: Rained heavily a day or so ago. This morning I saw the up-the-hill neighbor on his tractor down here at the low spot on the road, scooping up his garden again. At least several cubic yards(meters).
A non-observation: I still haven't seen the feral orange cat that lived in the ditch. I think she's gone.
Complaint: My mailbox is rusting, it may not last the winter. I also noticed that my neighbor in the other apartment has purchased a new mailbox. I'm thinking of providing funds for him to get another one just like it for me.
Non-complaint: Despite my budget being low and it still being three weeks to "payday" I'm doing another short trip uptown tomorrow. Getting a prescription, returning my ineffective new blood pressure monitor, getting a few groceries, and hopefully being able to time it to get Chinese takeout or Subway sandwich.
Non-complaint: There is a wonderful little town event this weekend in neighboring town of Ellington, NY. I'm trying to find a way to get there. May have to bribe someone, tempting them with a free Chicken BBQ lunch at the event. Quaint little old-America event with local baby contest, local homemade pies & cakes, cheap carnival games, log cutting contest, hot dog vendors, and the delicious chicken BBQ. Mmmm... its'a'spicy chicken.

YAY!!! What a scare, but glad it turned up!!
Yup yup now I need to figure out why the socket the hard drive was plugged into quit working this is the second one that has done that .....
But.. Back up asap. Could be the USB sockets aren't up to such continuous, heavy or regular usage, being generally designed for intermittent type USB stick access. Regards, Richard
My brother Tom is home from the hospital and is recovering nicely, but now he wants go into care. And he wants me go with him. Away from our home. Far away. I'm six years younger and I have health problems. But.
I don't want to do that. Not yet.
I don't want live here alone, either.
Decisions, decisions.
In the meantime, I've been cutting loose a few things. I've canceled renewal on my Premier Membership, because I'm just not using it anymore. But I might even be here more often, it has been so hectic. I'm sorry about posting without reading what I've missed here, but life can suck sometimes.
Phone update: I stopped at fast food place yesterday morning & talked to a couple other shift managers who were appalled and angry on my behalf. It's policy to take turned in valuables phones, wallets, debit cards, etc and put them in the safe. One immediately called the general manager who is going to deal with sphincter-manager.
Last night, I used Google's Find My Phone, which claimed the phone was lying by the main highway about 45 minutes south of town, so after I got off we went looking. (After what 1 of my own, bosses did, it wasn't hard to imagine my phone just getting dropped somewhere random.) While looking, Husband used the option to have my phone make a noise, so Good Samaritan who had it called him. They were nowhere near where Google said the phone was.
Good news, they will mail it to us. So Yay!
Maybe my phone needs one of those chains some guys use to tether their wallets to their belt loops?
Complaint: The hard drive in my main computer may be failing. It wants to scan and fix it every time I start the ccomputer. And hard drive prices have nore than doubled in the last six months.
Windows can do that even when there's nothing wrong with the drive.
I would scan it and make sure it's healthy, and always make sure you have at least 2 backups of whatever is on it.
Complaint: One of my daughter's kittens (Pippin) peed in my laundry hamper. The two of them are neutered, so we don't have any enzyme detergent for pet smells on hand. Had to order some, and I will have to wait until it comes from Amazon for clean laundry, I guess. I have no idea why he thought it was a good idea to pee in the laundry. The cat box was just cleaned this morning. This better not start being a thing with him.
Maybe he did it because he got neutered. I probably would. Maybe he did it because he's a kitten and got confused between two containers holding fluffy stuff. Could be you're not giving him enough attention. Could be you're giving him too much attention.
Maybe he did it because he's evil.
I don't have indoor cats, purely because that last one is always a possibility. My cats all live outside. Otherwise, how would the pondgator get to eat? You can only eat so many ducks before you just want something different!

Yes, I have an external (ex content library, I put it in an enclosure so I didn't have to wait with two machines on while copying the content to this new system (which was a trial as Windows had protected that folder and I had to go through removing the protection and taking ownership before I could copy the files across)) that I have repurposed to back up installers. It seems to go silent after a while, and has to be powered off and on before Windows will deign to see it.

Glad it's looking like a good outcome. That manager sucked.

He is just a little guy. Well he's 10 months old. But I think he's just decided he doesn't like the location of my bathroom litter box that all the other cats use with no problem. I hate to move it because the other 3 cats (including his litter mate) are used to where it is. But he peed there again, so I'm ordering cat deterrent for now to see how that goes. Anyway, I would never let my cats outside. We have cars, loose dogs, eagles, and all kinds of dangers in my neighborhood. One cat we adopted from outside ended up having caught FIV (cat HIV) during his travels, and only lived to be like 6 or 7 years old. And years ago there was some crazy person going around chopping outdoor cats in half in my small city. Not even kidding. The news was all over it. So yeah. Hell if I'm letting my pets go unsupervised.
...In Florida I've seen alligators, eagles, hawks, squirrels, coral snakes, water moccasin, opossum, big green iguanas, Horned Owls, and wild boar in neighborhoods. I've had my only experience with rattlesnakes in Florida. Also, we used to get flocks of white Ibis coming to pick the bugs from the lawn. We called them the lawn service crew. Also when I was in Reston, VA there was a wildlife park, zoo type of thing that had a big fenced in area a few blocks from our condo.
Don't forget the panthers and bears. We have them in Central Florida.
We used to have fun with people in other states by warning them to be careful during night sightings of armadillos. "Jumping Armadillos" was an urban myth, but we sold it for all it was worth! As lore would have it, you could be driving along and an armmadillo would jump up in front of your car, causing you to hit it with your windshield. Fun times; I miss those days!

I decluttered two bathrooms and two linen closets within the last week. One of them got a deep cleaning (toilet, tub, and all surfaces), and the other awaits the next time I take a shower in there. I know the feeling of aches and pains!
I've been trying hard to increase available freespace on all horizontal surfaces throughout my home. Trying to eliminate any non-essential things on the floor surfaces, while increasing freespace by a minimum of 25% on all tables, countertops, and shelves.j
Working in my favor was a lot of things that have expired. I decluttered my spice cabinet in the kitchen a week ago, and just throwing out everything that was more than 6 months past expiration made a huge difference, and I promised myself to slow-roll my replenishment. The linen closets and bathroon countertops were similar. I buy way more things than I can eat or use before they expire, so I have to watch that about myself.
But yeah, the new rule is "Success=Freespace+(Freespace * .25)". Just getting the floors cleared will lower my stress a lot. I want to buy a robot vacuum; maybe this year will be the year for that!
The current paper pile should be done by the start of the weekend, and then next will be the home office, followed by "round 2" in the art studio; then back to the kitchen and the laundry room for more.
I'm both thrilled and terrified to have the garage on my decluttering schedule in or near the 3rd week of September, when the outdoor temps should be cooling off rapidly.

What's the recommended mustard sauce?
Whatever is in the tin with the dead fish. I know sardines are sometimes packed in oil but, we've always gotten them packed in mustard sauce. A thick yellow mustard. Mmmm..., that's-a-spicy fish.
@LeatherGryphon I am in no way mocking your taste in little salty fish, but your posts remind me of a joke my dad made when I was little. He loved his anchovies in oil, as well as other things I believed inedible like pepperoncini and turkey dressing with oysters &/or giblets.
Dad: The freshest, best anchovies are packed in oil. If they are not so fresh, they put them in mustard. The ones about to go bad are put in ketchup.
Now why would anyone think I was a picky eater as a kid?

You could say the same with curried meat. Way back in history, British Naval chefs would hide the decomposition of meat with spices. Dont know if that is how the curry originated in India though?

Complaint : my computer is acting up and I don't know why. It's making it very hard to use DS , worse complaint : at some point in the last 4 months a folder vanished ..it had all my UV's and textures I made, plus things I had been working on ,and I unfortunately hadn't backed up anywhere .......16 years of work are gone and I don't know how or why .......got a headache from it
Ouch... I'm so sorry. I don't suppose you accidentally dragged it into a different folder and it's hiding there? I've done that a time or two.
It's intestinal sphincters like that that make work un-necessarily unpleasant. Arrange for a stack to drop near them.
Regards,
Richard.
Some people have not caught the memo that it costs nothing to be kind, apparently.
And then they why others don't like them.
oh lordy no didn't drag it into another folder but I had transfered everything to a different hard drive and after trying til midnight to double check folders in case I had dragged it into another folder accidently ,I went to bed .Woke up around 3 am and my brain is telling me one of the external hard drives is missing .... checked when I got up and yup yup ,there is a hard drive not showing up ,changed where it was plugged in and it shows up ,and all of my textures are back !!! Hurray now no complaint !!!
YAY!!! What a scare, but glad it turned up!!
Yup yup now I need to figure out why the socket the hard drive was plugged into quit working this is the second one that has done that .....
Well. Updates.
Hopefully things will get better for us all.
John
Windows can do that even when there's nothing wrong with the drive.
I would scan it and make sure it's healthy, and always make sure you have at least 2 backups of whatever is on it.
What's the recommended mustard sauce?
Yes I do go ahead and scan and fix it every ime. And still every time I start the computer it scans and "fixes" it again.
They pack them in hot sauce and ketchup, too.
You could say the same with curried meat. Way back in history, British Naval chefs would hide the decomposition of meat with spices. Dont know if that is how the curry originated in India though?
