Unless you're using a 50 series GPU, I don't see any advantage to using DS6 over DS4 anyway.
You should be able to excise the unwanted portions and just install the g8 version

I would have to pay for the unwanted part of the product. It's usually sold with a bundle price, which is a little bit higher than the price for other characters. As there's only two characters that I would be interested in, and of these two I made a version for one myself, using morph tools etc, that comes close enough except for some details, it's not really something I bother about too much.
@SilverGirl, thanks I had no idea our data was so detailed out there. Might explain why an old friend of hers contacted me to speak to her after almost 50 years. While she knew of my brother and me, my brother was dead by then, so I was the only one she could reach out to.
If you are a Mac user and want to use Filament, DS6 is your only choice. In DIM I am seeing more and more products being updated weekly now that DS6 is more stable. I also can start projects in DS4 and then save and open in DS6 when I am ready for a faster render.
Yeah, it can be wildly out of date, though. Until about a month ago it was claiming my ex- lived here (hasn't set foot in the house since 2019), and now it says he's in the apartment he was in for a few months after that before he got fired from his job again. He's actually in a different state, having gotten married and moved in with his new wife (nobody falls in love faster than an addict who needs somewhere to live). Whitepages still lists his primary phone as this one (landline). I had to get an answering machine with an electronic gatekeeper and set the outgoing message to say he's no longer here and not my problem because I got tired of debt collectors crawling up my backside looking for him. (Telling them I was more intersted in him paying his $50k+ past due support first didn't dissuade them). My parents had to get one too, because they were listed as associates of his. It's nuts.
Does DS6 render faster for Iray too? My CPU is newish (2023) but not exactly top of the line, and it struggles with some scenes.

To preface: this is an amused post, not a complaining one.
The promo today is saying that July is ending with a bang, but I don't hear a bang, more like a whimper.
So, anyone getting some good deals today or something that they really wanted is on sale?
Nope! Whimper for me too, but that's okay. Gives me a chance to catch up on my cataloging. :)
Yeah, not complaining either. I've got some good stuff this month with the July 4th weekend sale, and there were some QG/OS things too. I was just curious is I was actually missing the advertised bang. :D
The highest discount was yesterday. Interestingly, buying both yesterday's and today's new arrivals can get you an even higher discount on the older item, around 1%...
It is a bang compared to the past two days. But that's being generous. I'm adding stuff to my wishlist. There's no incentive to buy any of the new releases immediately as I often do. But they're just a flat 30% with nothing to juice that percentage.
Not even a whimper over here. Aside from the Bastian releases - I'm not that interested in the characters but do love the rest - there's no New Releases that I want. Plus, end of month & my DD won't drop until Monday. So I will get Bastian character bundle as soon as the August coupon is valid, but if I buy anything else this weekend, it will be a handful of OS.
Then Monday, I will get some of the other Bastian releases, maybe even the whole add-on bundle, with a combo of $10 coupon, 4 tokens and any deals from Thursday & today that are still active.
And I also have cataloging & art to do.

I suspect that July 2026 will take the record for my lowest spending month here at Daz. Being busy + a lot of 'buy-in' sales where I don't care for the buy-ins + summer malaise, I guess.
Thanks to the July 9 bundle sale, my spending was in the middle of my normal range for monthly spending. But I'm not a big spender, so it wasn't really that much money. And without that sale, I spent very little. It is the way of things.
I got the 50% off cart deal, which is nice..includes new, DAZ+ and licenses. Thing is, I looked at wishlist and products are 50% max off. if you buy 5 items, the coupon starts at 10% and goes up to 50 ...the end result is 75% off. Not too bad, but there are too many times you can get 80 or 90% off. I think some folk will find this bonus extra attractive though.

I was parked on some store credit since none of the recent deals were speaking to me. There's a bit of combo-stacking possible if using the 50% off 5 from the orange banner coupon on New Releases that trigger other deals in the sale pages, like the bonus-off-10 categories. I ended up with a 93.3% cart average including the new release buy-ins, and without factoring in the discounted store credit, by including some of the Bastian news (Daz Originals with heavier token discount) and sorting price High to Low in PA categories, with barely any rebuys for wishlisted bundles. That meets my price target, so I'm a happy camper, despite my wallet screaming in anticipation of exhausting my last store credit before I can justify budgeting to refill it. Lots in the cart was previously out of reach due to the base price being so high.
Fair warning, there are some aggressive floor prices in play, so you almost have to sort High to Low to wade through the offerings that hit like 75% with all stacking.
My splurge was the new Polish heist set since it came at the perfect time for a visual novel project that's written/coded but needs art.
With the orange banner, I got a not bad deal on a new release I wanted (more than I'd usually pay, but agreeable enough to spend money), so after all, there was some bang to the end of July. :)
If I didn't still have the Premier $10.00 off coupon left to use, I'd have passed on shopping today..
I have to be honest that my main computer is my MacMini M4 64GB. My Win11 with an RTX 4090 is to keep me relevant after my Win10s with GTX1060 and GTX1060Ti and no longer supported by anyone. (I hate that because the Win10 laptop is the only one that allows me to fully correct my metadata when it is totally screwed up.)
During summer I only run one computer at a time due to heat build-up in my room. So other than keeping the Win11 updated with Windows update and DIM, I am not using it.
But Window users seem to get good performance. Best idea is to create your render in DS4 if you need plug-ins/scripts not yet updated, save, close and then close DS and reboot your computer. Reopen, open the file in DS6, immediately go to render, making sure your set-up is still correct and start.
Depending on complexity of scene it can take as little as a few seconds or as long as hours (Macs). If you can depreciate any unnecessary textures that might be stressing your system, do so. Me, I just eat the time and do something else in the meantime. I have tested some of my renders in both DS4 and DS6 on the Mac and sometimes not seen much difference, but have not done so on the latest DS6 Beta that came out this past week.
I did go ahead and get the Bastian 9 character bundle as my freebie. Also took advantage of the OS glitch to pick up more July OS items, including Ebenezer 8.1 and more of Petipet's Solaris SF series. Then noticed the Cerberus prop was 69¢ so grabbed it.
I wish Daz had kept the original Bastian deals since I was hoping to use them, but I have 5 tokens and my $10 coupon available.
