I haven't spent much money here all month.

I've spent too much money in the past. And I haven't used much of what I bought.

Now I've decided to get a cat. And my money will go to my goal of giving that cat a wonderful life.

@Fareyl_Woman - I just found an update for Sorcerers Relics 1 in my DIM, Product Updates now.

(Linked item so folks will see DAZ responded promptly to the issue.)

Edit to add: Unfortunately, while the 'Environments' has installed, the 'Runtime/Textures' has not. It is still in italics. I updated my report with what I found. But it is Saturday, so we may not find an update until next week.

Edit to add further: In Daz Studio the product DOES show up under Props/Furnishings/Decor. I do not see any materials at this time. And when I do try to load an item a pop-up appears with missing files for the Runtime/Textures. So you get a grey product at this point.

Thanks and I will keep checking for updates. That beach ball yesterday finally showed a download in my library, so that was fixed as well.

It's fixed, mine still have environments instead of props but I can rename that folder.

I do manually fix a lot of the weird folder placements of stuff

until an update breaks it again

I don't care about smart content though

some PAs literally put everything in Environments Architecture for some reason whether it be a vehicle or even a landscape not a building in sight

This time it was magic bottles, definitely a prop type product lol

Today there is https://www.daz3d.com/golden-years-shapes-for-genesis-9 for $2.99 which is a morph pack of six older females by @Virtual_World. With the G9 Base Essentials that are free with Daz Studio non-adopters might have a product that could give them a product that could still be useful and not break the bank. And with older people, it is easy to adjust them to the other sex.

That's fine if budget is the only reason for for not using G9.  However, a lot of us have plenty of other reasons for not using G9, most notably due to the onging issues with bend morphs.  I'm not a ludite when it comes to 3D products, and I've spent a lot money on G9 products, but despite that I very rarely use the G9 figures themselves.  One of the PAs who sells both here and at Rendo, Tri-X, is well known for making all of his characters in multi-figure versions over at Rendo and I think he rather nailed most of the common issues by printing a chaart on his product pages there explaining the positives/negatives of each figure system and why he makes duplicate figures:

I originally wrote a long essay of 10,000 words, but I've decided to cut it down to one sentence: I shouldn't have presumptuously expected any good discounts from this so-called summer Christmas.

On this last day, I decided to buy some Mousso; even though the discount wasn't as high as I expected, Mousso is worth it.

    tHIS IS IT.

Too bad, that they only sell there figures as a "get all three versions" package, which make them totally uninteresting for me, when I would only need and use the G8 version. But that chart is nice wink

I have only been around for 10 years, joining half-way through Genesis 7 so I am no way an expert on bend morphs or on figures. I do look for PAs at the DAZ store that have addressed those bend morphs though. But some of those items listed are non-starters for me. With Bone Minion I have all the poses available for G9 and backwards for other generations on the fly, without clogging up my drive with duplicates. Nipples (or other private areas of the body) are worthless to me, I don't render nudes or sexual images. If others do, it is their own business.

If I have a quibble with G9 is the lack of diversity that we had in G8 and G8.1. But I have those characters if I need them. There are times I feel we are back in Generation 7's days of white women/men all the time with a colorized version of another race thrown in as a bone. This is not 100% as there are some wonderful characters out there.

My post was simply to highlight an item for those on a limited budget who may not use G9 because of that budget and that it could be a help to expand their options. And that it was from a PA with an excellent reputation for her characters.

I understand that those with a great deal of experience in 3D have a better understanding and that is fine. We live in a world where we can shop as we can afford and prefer the products.

I think across the Daz generations, when it comes to ethic characters, there are very few real differences between what is out there.

Yes, there's plenty of Asian characters, but if you line them all up in a row, you can tell they are mostly just tweaked morphs of the first one.

There's also a lack of skin tones, yet in real life there are hundreds.

Ya some PAs it seems like just release the same character over and over with maybe one or two minor tweaks (at best).  There's two PAs I don't even bother looking at their stuff anymore as usually it's just regurgitation of their earlier stuff with little to no change.

And I agree diversity is something badly needed that goes beyond just "Black, White, Asian", to have more variation of other groups.  Some central american, eastern european, and non-Chinese/Japanese Asian (Indian Males, Indonesian/Malaysian/Cambodian/Vietnamese, etc.) characters would be lovely.

They sell a couple of their characters as separate versions.

...missed out on buying something yesterday so lost one punch.  Was out until early evening, took a short nap when I got home, then got busy with something else only to look own to see that Daz "zero hour" had passed by a couple minutes.

This being the "final weekend", I expected to see a lot of things on my wishlist to be on sale but that apparently was not to be (even with over 17,000 items on sale). Pretty much everything on the WL is full price save for D+ and a few other inexpensive items. Was hoping to use my PA coupon on something "big" before my subscription expires (not renewing  for next month) along with the 25% punch discount that likely goes away after today.

So been spending the the late afternoon/evening shopping arond for anything of interest (that I would have a use for) which adds up to around 18 - 19 USD after using the 3 tokens I have remaining.

.I don't know, maybe I just pick the wrong PA items to put on the wishlist or I am cursed.  Last several double token days the pickings were so slim that I didn't get anything as nothing appeared when I clicked the "Only Wishlisted" filter.

I believe many people didn't buy anything yesterday; if this sale continues, they'll only get a maximum of two punches.

That being said, why prolong the suffering?

  • AsuCafeAsuCafe Posts: 468

No extensions, no need to accumulate three punches, just buy three of today's new items (previously one was required) to get the same discount as the July Christmas sale, ho, ho, ho!

The good news today is that many great tools have been released, and my shopping mood is much better than it has been in the past few days.

,..well so much for that.  Guess they really meant it this time.

Having to spend 40+ USD on three new releases just to get about what three punches gave ,,,, not happeningm particularly at the end of the month when the old bank balance is running on fumes.

Is today's sales headline a pun? The main visual presents a toon style, and I thought we were just talking about needing more toon tools yesterday, and today they're launching one. Then I looked for a long time but couldn't find any toon products. Upon closer inspection, I realized it's "tons," not "toon."

Just because people ask for toon stuff doesn't mean anyone is selling it.

Yeah, I think two characters can be bought as G8(.1) non-premium pack. None of the maybe two charakters I might be interested in are, though. Doesn't matter as I can do without them and they seem to sell enough with their concept.

I had the same problem. I "settled" for some full/nearly full price WL items that 3 punches brought to under $5 each, plus a couple OS, to use my $10/$25 code. So not a bad ending IMO. Daz accountants might not agree, since those and Censored's freebies were my only purchases.

Maybe a problem between your email provider and Daz mailing list provider? I received it ~20 minutes after the Daz 'zero hour'.

I know my English is terrible, but I don't know why the topic veered this way. I just wanted to say I misread the text, and that the pun (if it is) is funny.

...ah found that it was tagged to go to a  different folder.   Not sure how that happened as there is nothing in the email as that contains language about soliciting donations  That is a  filter arrays have set up to redirect such emails to that particular folder

Being one of those "concerned citizens", I am carpet bombed by politically oriented emails on a daily basis, a good potion of which just ask for donations (if I donated 1 only USD to each, I'd be broke by mid-month).  So to "de-clutter" the inbox I set up the filter array to redirect those emails,  For some reason Gmail won't let me delete them via the filters so the easest ay to deal with them is to reroute them to a temporary folder and bulk delete later  On average I get about 4,000 - 5,000 donation emails a month alone. The worst was a couple years ago when I received around 11,000.  Unsubscribing is futile as they always seem to easily get hild of your email addy again.,

Apparently something broke on my and I'll have to find where the issue is and debug it later (this has happened with other emails before),

I send them to my Promotions tab and tell Gmail to do that for future emails. Then every morning, I tick the box and skim down for possible 'real' emails I need, move them to my In-Box, and then mass delete the promotion page. If there is a scam that is obvious on any tab I take the time to report it. I freaked one day when I was clearing out my full spam folder and realized one had my sister's name as the sender! But I found more a few days later, with '4 or 5 pictures' attached I would need to open the email to see. The email address was not my sister, who doesn't even bother to return calls or texts or emails from me. 'We have issues.' So I have reported that officially but they are still coming. But how they found out her name as linked to mine, no clue. She uses her husband's last name now. Regardless, even my newspaper/magazine emails, if I have an app to read the paper, I zap the emails. I have tried to stop those 'alerts' but no joy.

I have my charities that I send money to, and those I keep the emails and review their updates and collect the payment received for taxes. Same with snail mail. I have to shred everything. We have folks collecting discarded mail labels from trash cans. I really need to take the time with the shredder. Yuck.

Possibly Whitepages.com or the like; it lists past aliases, and has a section for relations. And emails. And it is not by any stretch of the imagination something one can count on for accuracy.

nope, no QG ,,, I guess. If it's gone, DAZ finally got rid of me as far as purchasing much. I'm not upgrading to DS6, mainly becasue I have a ton of add-on packages, scripts, and so forth, so if they don;t work in 6 I'm not about to buy them all again, or even an upgrade so they work in 6. Pricing is now above my paygrade. The items in DAZ+ are also going up and I find less and less I want to buy. The new guitar is on my list though. The only thing that has been really interesting me has been Quick Grab, but there have been a few weeks I bought nothing from there.  I think I've reached my saturation point. no sale for me today.
