Ok, thanks.
Not so. I don't use smart content and EZ Finder works fine.
Another suggestion. The left hand column that lists the separate categories/folders that EZF has gone through. The separation between the 'main' content and the 'imported' content can't be adjusted. Would be nice if you're like me and have 99.9% imported so I don't have to scroll to get to click on where I want.
BTW, search is wonderful. Sooo much faster than the search feature in Studio.Practically instaneaous.
Smart Content is often used as a synonym for the Content Management System and metdadata, but it isn't. In this case I think it is using the metadata from the database, which will be added when you install content from Daz and some third-party content, regradless of how you access the content inside DS.
I could get the EZHDRI working on a 10k+ product external drive; the scan took 1/2-1hours.
problems: - Things that are not HDRI-s are listed. Probably it's on DAZ, since it was imported due to bad metadata.
I didn't have more time to test other things. Can HDRI-s be sorted into folders?
From my understanding this does not make sense: “it was imported due to bad metadata” Are you saying you think your external drive the files are corrupted? EZHDRI should only return with .hdr and .exr file search results it does not concern itself with any other file type (although EZHDRI does create DUF, HTML and PNG files this is how it links to your data). EZHDRI does not actually copy your HDRI files it just makes pointer files and thumbnails to the data. I need more information. One solution is to use Windows File Manager and do a global search through your external drive for *.hdr and *.exr and “copy” (not move) the results from the two searches to a folder, then run EZHDRI on that folder. Then EZFinder can help you organize your HDRIs and allow you to use the two click system to insert them into Daz Studio. This approach will work if the external drive is functioning properly. The HDRI results should appear here:
When the HDRI scan appears there, double click the scan folder to insert its contents into the thumbnail grid in the main workspace.
I am glad the search is helpful to you!
Very helpful video. Thanks
Thanks for watching Charlie Judge!
Will you be making another one that covers using EZShader in detail ?
Hello Charlie! I will try and make a live video tonight on EZShader if I feel up to it.
It's up!
If you are feeling comfy with program just skip to 58.23 . . . Because I am still learning I am watching it all. It's currently live so you can shoot questions at the PA.
Kind thanks to you ArtAngel for sharing my vid!
Great. I am only installing the content via DIM, so hopefully it will work. Right?
EZFinder works best when your DAZ library follows the standard folder structure, People, Environments, Runtime, and so on. The compartment scanner uses these folder names to automatically classify your content into the right categories. If any of these folders have been renamed, EZFinder will still find all of your files, but they'll fall into generic categories like 'Other' instead of being sorted precisely. The scanner always has a fallback, nothing gets lost, but you may end up doing more manual organization to get things where you want them.
Thanks for making this. I will watch later today when I have more time available.
Thank you so much for this tool! I can see that after I spend the time setting everything up, this is going to save me SO MUCH TIME!
That said, I do have some dream wishlist additions for the program that I think would make life even easier
Sort options
Filtration/Search
OR
(Anybody that's looking to filter by badge type, click Search Matrix and select your badge, then make sure the word check boxes are blank and do a search with no words in the bar)
An Uncheck All button on the leftomost panel so I don't accidentally append a category I dont want to be working with (like, say having the first 10 pages of G9 hair being G8M characters because I didn't uncheck it when I thought I did, ope!)HAHA, I just found it! Left click and select "Unselect All Compartments"Hi, thanks for making EZFinder. I've done a little with it. I think it will make finding the genre things I'm currently working with much easier. One, issue, I have found at least 1 asset that was not included in the scan. I'm organizing all my SciFi building stuff and noticed that StoneMason's Greeble City Blocks 2 did not scan.
What is the easiest or best way to rescan or scan for missing items?
Nevermind! I used EZReader button and searched for Greeble and found it. It wasn't showing up because it's a .daz file and not a .duf.
Thanks for making this!
Thanks for the nice compliment tomekamanson! For hard to find items check all of the red checkboxes. Also, make sure you always click the "Clear UI" button before searching compartments. If there are any items in the workspace grid, search will search them "instead" of the compartments. Enjoy and have fun!
Alphabetize, I wish I had thought of that for sorting the workspace grid. It would make things easier. Read about "truth symbols" in the user's manual, they may be what you are thinking about for your categorization; and you also have custom color as a category marker. Unfortunately, tabs do not have color, only panels and folders/symbols.
As for sorting, the program at one point did have sort by install date but I felt it was not that useful. The reason why was because my library once got corrupted, I had to reinstall and now, nearly all of my files have the same install date. So, I removed it (this was evidently a mistake). What I tried hard to get to work was “purchase date” But after many attempts to include this data, I don’t think Daz exposes that information, other than in your account area on the website and deep within Daz itself. Purchase date would be the ticket. SKU date seemed to be the compromise; it is pretty much a release date matrix. You can create virtual folders with dates on them but try and stay away from certain text symbols in virtual folder names, stick with numbers and letters.
I hope EZFinder is helpful for your productivity and thanks for the nice comment XtraDimensional, and program suggestions are very much welcome!

I am making very good use of the truth symbols!
It's just a bit of a pain to go through and find newly-installed things to get them sorted correctly. (Thus why I say filtering by whether the items have truth symbols already would be a godsend!)
MUCH less of a pain than trying to keep track of everything without this utility, though! Thank you so much for making it!
That would be a *great* feature addition, and presumably fairly simple, so long as the instance databases are isolated. That would be my only serious change request so far, and that's because of the multiple runtime library hacks I've been using for years to manage my data.
One possible suggestion for a future version was similar to a previous suggestion, where the presentation of multiple screens of icons could be scrolled through with the mouse wheel... (or keyboard presses, as mentioned). Being able to roll through those screenfuls of thumbnails with the mouse roller would be pretty cool.
Thanks for your work and support in here!
cheers,

Has anyone else run into a problem with folders randomly disappearing? Every time I restart the program, there are several folders that are just gone (always different ones). I've tried doing complete reset, and just now several folders disappearead as I was sorting without a shutdown or reload or anything.
I will look into it kingyak42, it may not be on your end. I have not experienced this, but it is not out of the question it could be happening.
One workaround is saving your folders, panels, tabs and full layout often after you edit them a lot and then if they disappear reload them. I am working on an update and your issue will be addressed.
A big limitation is the single Daz library: I have a number in different places. Is there a solution?
Great news! This has already been addressed! The v1.0.3 update was created tonight and I'll be uploading it to DAZ soon.
They'll release it when they're ready.
The update introduces library compartment tabs, you can scan each of your DAZ library locations as long as they're listed
in your DAZ Install Manager. Scan as many locations as you want and organize them all together using virtual folders.
Here's what else is new in v1.0.3:
- Mouse wheel scrolling for page navigation
- Sort by Install Date, Alphabetical, and Truth Symbol (unsorted items)
- Fixed folder disappearing bugs (there were a few culprits)
- Import External Scanner is now significantly faster
- Various cosmetic fixes (text, button layout)
The update installs right over your current version through DIM and your virtual folder work will remain intact. When the
program launches after updating, just point it to your existing userdata folder when prompted.
If anyone has feature requests, get them in now!
@EZ3DTV -
Would you be able to include some step-by-step screenshots in the manual?
I will edit the manual and add images, this could balloon the manual from 30 pages out to over 100 pages, it could also make EZFinder close to a GB install.
I will try it and see how it works and if it is feasible.
To update for new items for folders in external imports, are we stuck having to delete the whole folder and then reaquiring?
