Man when I joined DAZ, I was never expecting to get this invested. But six months and 536 assets later I'm watching the shop like a hawk lmao.
Just wait until you have well over 5k assets and still are like, "I could really use this or that because I still can't do that other thing I would like to do quite the way I want." I love daz studio premier's geometry sculptor for when sometimes you just want to tweak something you can't another way AND you don't want to have to export stuff into blender and then export it back multiple times to verify how something looks. It's just much better to do when you don't have the item loaded into another busy scene or else I have issues with it crashing on me frequently.
Oh I'm ready to embrace such a fate. I want to obtain ALL DA ASSETS lol

Welcome!! I just passed my two year anniversary, and getting the rhythm of the sales is definitely an acquired skill. December is fun. Lots of generous PA gifts, both at Daz and the other sites, which can really help when you're still building your library. Definitely check out the "Do You Have Your Wishlist Ready" thread for some good tips from a if-past-is-prologue perspective...

Yes, sometimes sale affect only things that are wish listed. I wishlist almost anything I think I might reasonably want or need. That way when wish list sales come up, I ha e a higher chance that the items on sale for wish lists so happen to be on my wish list. Some folks to keep their wishlist very limited, but in my case I have over 3k items on my list. Sometimes I go back and trim some older things off as time goes by and I get something I like better than something I used to want. That is normal for things like models. Someone posted before that they wishlist every single item so that every item on the wish list sale would qualify for them. They said they used a separate spread sheet to keep track of their most wanted items. Best savings, especially for building your asset list is premier because of max savings potential and free stuff. A strategy I employ is I usually buy minimally during the non big sales, wait for really good gift card sales, and buy big during the great sales. I consider great sales to usually be 90% off on PA items and 95% off on DO items. This usually requires including qualifying items to trigger sales, 8 tokens, etc. If not having premier, daz+ is a huge bonus for taking advantage of the quick grab and outlet store. That was a legit good and appreciated idea from someone in daz which I use during and between my big purchases when some thing from my wish list shows up on it at a good price.

I'll never claim spelling is my strength. Lol But then sometimes I butcher the words I say because of personal quirks, so my pronunciation is not necessarily that much better some times. I am an acquired taste. Lol

sorry, I just found that one hilarious

its not actually spelling that was the issue but rather an unfamiliarity with the word used

many people including yours truly are just as guilty

for years I thought people were saying segway when they were actually saying segue because I had never actually heard that word spoken and hadn't realised it was pronounced like that

I am guessing it's the same with poultry a familiar word you assumed people were saying

its very common and I think it's better to know than remain blissfully unaware

Malapropism. A malapropism (/ˈmæləprɒpɪzəm/; also called a malaprop, acyrologia or Dogberryism) is the incorrect use of a word in place of a word with a similar sound, either unintentionally or for comedic effect, resulting in a nonsensical, often humorous utterance

and ... I learnt a new term cheeky

Not a problem. I appreciate the correction done in good intentions. I also rather like the joke about me having that many bird related orders. Lol

Well today's sale, almost had me interested. You can get some decent pricing on some stuff, but requires a lot of qualifying buy ins and 8 tokens. Other thoughts?

My cart doesn't look too bad right now. I'm getting at least 82% off wishlisted items which are also part of the featured artist selection with one of today's new releases, the wishlist code, and 8 tokens. The DOs in my cart are 90+% off. And I have one bundle I really want in there at 65% off with no base discount.

Overall, not bad. I might tweak a little more, but will likely check out a pretty hefty cart (for me) today. laugh

The Wish-4-You code doesn't say it's limited to one use. Has anyone tried it for more than one cart? The code next to it has the one use limitation.

I'm one of the latter cases - I currently have 13407 items on the wishlist, giving me a lot to choose from if I use today's wishlist coupon.

Good advice re: building an asset list. Premier benefits definitely seem optimized for newer customers.

I might bite at 90% for PA items I really want, but my current target for a great sale is closer to 93%, which is surprisingly possible with banked gift cards, tokens, Premier, careful cart testing, and patience (and also enough in the library to cover bases in the meantime). The prices seem to have been creeping up this year so 93% feels like the old 87% or whatever. I'm also training myself to consider something nonzero as "zero" for gift card balance so there's an emergency fund for great sales.

It is currently difficult to justify buying older items due to the minimum price restrictions, imo. Always be on the lookout for bundles.

Yes, bundles are often my go to on sale especially with the price floor now. I pretty much wishlist ALL DO bundles. Most of what I buy is usually DO items until there are great sales on PA items, at which point I start picking at that list for my big wants/needs that I have been waiting on from them. When I mentioned my big buying trigger of 90% for PA and 95% for DO, that was not factoring in the gift card discount. That was just the discount in cart with all things stacked. I usually buy gift cards for no less than 20% off. I figure, if I already have almost 8k assets, and the means to manipulate those assets via shaders sets or geometry sculpting, the discount has to be pretty substantial to justify replacing something I probably already have with a newer version. The exceptions are when someone hits something I don't have yet and I really could benefit from, at which point I will relax on waiting for as high of a discount. Unless something is a buy in to get great deals on something else, OR I really, really, REALLY NEED something, I won't touch them unless they are AT LEAST 80% off. Then I may start thinking about.

Yes, same! This week I grabbed the new Morph Tools pack by 3D Universe at launch price because I'll use it well before it's likely to go on sale.

In the spirit of fairness, since I very often gripe about the weekly free-with-paid-membership content, this week's was really nice. The kicky little boots (as my mom would call them) are a really good replacement for a set in a G8 outfit that I couldn't get to work on my G9. I may not use heels /often/, but I do at least use them, unlike all the sci-fi stuff. And a simple shader can give a lot of versatility.

Also, thank you to Daz/the PA for making heels that are not platforms.

I WL'ed those as they look fantastically useful... once I get far enough along my learning curve to be able to use them. Right now just reading the description is overwhelming LOL.

That KA wearable lights and cameras, though? That looks like that's going to /entirely/ solve the problem I have with my blue-skinned character that even when the lighting is perfect in the rest of the scene and for all the other characters, he's still insufficiently lit. I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but if it comes to the last day of my tokens and no better sale has come along, I'll likely do it then.

(And yeah I'm sure if I messed around long enough I could manage it on my own, but... I've messed around with it a lot already and still haven't to my satisfaction. And especially with how sparse my art time has been lately, it'd be nice to not spend what little I get being frustrated.)

Out of curiosity, does he know what a rodeo is? Because if he doesn't, that makes complete sense. (And actually I really like the changeup, lol. I might adopt it.)

What was it we were supposed to do to sort out products not being shown as purchased in the store? I'm having that problem with my purchases from the last few days.

Yes, unfortunately. Now we are in the third or fourth week without a new DO core figure.

I'm really disappointed that we didn't get a new character bundle yesterday or even today; and next week is also pretty iffy because of Thanksgiving and Black Friday. If we don't get one more this month I won't have anything to use my Premier coupon for a free bundle on.

The only bunles that came out this month were The Velvet Plunder and The Cider Brewery. They both came out at the same time and I bought them for $2.72 each with the $10 DO coupon and 8 tokens.

Ya. I almost bought the rawart and matari one, but skipped doing so in case nothing else I didn't have showed up as an option. They should do something where if you have literally nothing you can use the bundle on, it rolls over to be useable the next month.

I don't have it, but reading the description, if you know how to manually dial a morph, you know how to use this product: the PA already did the majority of the work and once you have activated the single dial the description is speaking about, you're done and everything else will happen automatically depending on how each finder is posed.

Seems my wishlist isn't big enough, then. All I could achieve would be some not too impressive 75% off - 50% off due to "Featured Artist" and those 50% extra off from the sale. Premier/DAZ+ aren't worth it for me anymore. Due to me not spending enough money in the shop I never have any Tokens and due to me not buying G9 stuff I rarely find a new item that interests me enough to buy it with only a 30% price reduction.

In fact, even when I would have an enormous amount of items in my wishlist, my limited funds or reluctance to spend a small fortune on a hobby would keep me from having a "field day", too. wink
