Does Stonemason ever sleep?

I mean really, these awesomely detailed sets keep coming!  The Under the Overpass set looks like so many places I've been and walked past in the cities I've lived in.

So many details in models and textures. It'd take me years to make one of those sets and this one comes out not that long after the amazing Streets of Tuscany.

That really does look like one of the most photorealistic sets he's done yet. The human figure actually detracts from the realism, lol. Amazing work.

    Thanks guys...got plenty more coming!

Would be correct to assume he has a team, or at least some other people to help him? If he does all this himself, then the answer is no he can't possibly sleep.

  • its the earthquakes, keeps him up so he models

  • Rumour has it he does an intire city in just two days, so I guess he goes fishing a lot.

Or maybe hiking, it's a nice place where he lives for that sort of thing.

    ; )

At least one of us is hoping you re-visit the Green Dragon Dojo one of these days ;)

No, he doesn't. Because he is an alien android, that doesn't need sleep. His mission here is to observe and cataloguing human environments. He sends those datas home to his planet. In order to pay the costs for interstellar data transmissions he sells those datas here at DAZ too. That's how it works ... I guess. :D

I don't often go for full Stonemason scenes because I prefer toolkit approaches so I can make lots of different things... but every time I pick up a Stonemason environment it is SO good it blows me away.

  • Had I not spent so much in the recent sales, I'd have gotten the Under the Overpass already. Hopefully I'll get something for my birthday so I can get it then. Should still be on sale through Monday I'd think. smiley

It's in the same boat as balanced budgets.  Just enough to keep from going bonkers.

I suspect Stefan does take the occasional nap. The real explanation for his recent bounty is that he's very, very good at what he does.

    Cheers,

    Alex.

  • That's him napping in the van under the bridge :P

Just imagine what he could do if he could make Urban Sprawl in one day like that guy from the other discussion!  wink

No he doesn't have a team. He is a lone PA. He is just the best in the industry. We all strive to be even close to his ability.

    LMAO!!

This is a brilliant set, I can see tons of virtual scenarios with it.

I believe he's got one of those thingies Hermione had in Harry Potter which goes back in time so that he can model and then go back and then model again and...

    Or perhaps a Tardis

    Or perhaps a Delorean

    laugh

  • Sleep is a crutch.  :-P

  • Guess I'll have to be Mr Picky, then. Lots of duplication in this one (van with plastic sheets, container, oil drum, pallet, pipe, etc), and the railway track doesn't seem to belong in the scene - from a texture quality point of view nor scale. Would a train fit under there?

A nice gritty urban setting, to be sure (with some worthy bits for kitbashing) - but one I'll be picking up later in a store sale.

It's a very old track, before they built the highway, LOL. I like the containers at either end, but I do have to wonder where they came from since I have never seen those left abondoned under a highway before in real life. I wonder if they open?

There are sort of  train tracks on the other side so that why the containers but what train would fit there no idea lol.. anyway love the set

bellow some first test ,  light just my own HDRI maps

  • Wonder if one of the Parkside train cars would fit through there if scaled to the tracks? Or

    http://www.daz3d.com/the-old-railway-thumper

Or something. Would at least tell whether the overpass was put there before or after the tracks were decommissioned. :)

Nice renders MEC4D! Really looks like some places I've seen around here.

Thanks .. I think they will fit  , if there was more industrial train cars would be better to match the dark homeless camp atmosphere or at last couple of  realistic zombies around lol

Heh, odd that detailed zombies would be easier to find than a properly homeless looking figure.

That is true .. what about Deadly fumes theme

    just got another one ready

  • These guys would blend better than the clean figure in the promos:

I still doubt a realistic train fit (but am happy to be proved wrong). Once you put those containers on rolling stock on the raised track, it becomes very tight.

It will fit , just put the containers included in the scene and still enough space bellow and on bottom for the rolling stock

  • Tight fit, but passible. Not like there needs to be much clearance if the line is using a consistent set of rolling stock and containers.

Really hoping to get this set soon, has a good feel of urban decay to it that works for a lot of things.

as for why are the containers in there? maybe there is a storage yard next door?..use your imagination!

..since the earthquakes in my city we have become very creative with how to use shipping containers, from propping up building facades, keeping traffic safe from falling cliffs to building a new bar or city mall or temporary accommodation, its become a very useful box
