Thanks Yeah I used the glass shader and changed the roughness to 0.10, it looked to clean and new at 0.00

Where did you get the rose, Pete? That's... lovely. Any transluceny or SSS on that? Wow.

  • SzarkSzark Posts: 10,634

Thanks evilded the rose is from here http://www.robinwood.com/Catalog/FreeStuff/FreeModels/FModelSet.html and only transluceny used, no SSS. 0.30 transluceny weight for the petal and 0.10 for the calyxes and leaves with the diffuse map in the transluceny colour channel. However I did add parts to the bump map and made a normal map from in via the Gimp plug-in. I also adjusted the stem colour so it changed colour the closer to the top as my roses in the garden used to do before I dug then all up. ;)

Just testing this windmill I bought recently and a night sky from Dimension Theory. Only 10 minutes in CPU only!

  • @Szark Gorgeous render.  The water drops on the rose leaf were a really nice touch.

I need to tear myself away from trying to create perfect skins and finish some of my many incomplete scenes

The two links above are the same, and I couldn't find Alexs_Apartment on any of the free product pages. (A great resource, by the way. Thanks for listing it.)

You can find Alexs_Apartment on the hdrlabs site. It's the first one there. :)

I used the Iray AtmoCam and the Photometric Distantlight that comes with it for the sun.

...oooh, nice. Have the Atmo Cam but haven't got around to playing with it yet.

Thanks everyone. That is the first time I have used it and it worked the way I wanted it. Using the light that came with it semms to be the key.

Robin Wood, haven't heard that name in a while.  Lovely lady. I wonder if she remembers me? Probably not.

LOL I spelt translucency wrong 3 times in a row...that is a record even for me. I have never had dealing with Robin but I sure do like her rose and never used it.

One of the things I love about Daz is how much stuff you can get for the great price of NOTHING.

Here's an image with free hair, free figure, free dress, free Iray skin modifier (today's Iray Skin Essentials for Aiko), free HDRI!

(Ok, some stuff cost money -- it uses Fit Control and some morphs, along with Unshaven 2 for hair shader)

Pete, great image...but there is one problem with it...Alex's Apartment...that really blue TV just gets on my nerves, after a while...but there isn't much you can do about it.  I use that one, often, but I try to hide the TV.  Depending on the angle/camera placement, that TV can end up being the strongest light source in the HDRi.

This uses Easy Environments Winter which uses a Skybox rather than a dome. It has top, bottom and four sides, east, west, south and north which all had to be fixed to work. Lighting is Sky and Sun Only and dome set to Draw.

A distant view of the previous render. Nothing changed other than the camera position.

I adore the lighting in that, Fishtales. Made me cold just looking at it, and reminded me of winters I've been in. ;)

What horse is that? I've been poking at Daz Horse 2 and having a lot of trouble with the tail.

LOL yeah me too. If I had the money I would buy some decent ones and I did try to hide it but after 10 minutes of rotating the dome I went back to it for the colour, even though the lighting wasn't right. I did added 3 spots at 2000 lns each close above the subject in a line, crossways and then played with HDRI intensity and Tone Mapping to get the final result. I hadn't used that HDRI before and I don't really like using this type of low res HDRI often. I have used Chelsea Stairs once before too.

Last render from this set. Through the window :)

Anybody care to take a guess at which was the longer render and which the quickest? #1, #2 or #3?

    Quickest the third one

...testing albino skin and hair textures. The squint is deliberate albinism often increases sensitivity to bright light and glare.
