    .

Seriously? I came in to check out the five new posts since I'd last visited, and they've all been edited down to a single "dot"...

LOL. (You should have waited until April 1st!)

People talked me down off the ledge. Sorry for the drama llama...

Anyway, here's a use of Ultra Bodysuit, forming the hoodie. The hood cutout is mostly a cutout of my own design, because the mat zones didn't quite line up in a way I felt... right for hoodies. Texture is something I generated in Carrara, of all things (basically, soft blobby shapes, scaled down to look, hopefully, like the soft bumpy cotton of many hoodies).

Tentacle is, of course, from Singers of Chzor.

That's impressive, Will. I'm still trying to get over being intimidated by the Ultra Bodysuit...

Well, once 3dwizard was like 'dude, it comes with the uv maps' and I realized I hadn't downloaded them (duh duh triple duh), it got a little better. ;)

The OTHER important thing is to remember you can turn on the 'select material zone' thingie at the top (looks like a fan of three cards). But the mat zones are just so well-laid-out -- it tends to go top to bottom, zones are numbered and named, and the documentation is actually helpful.

I asked about really short hair, and picked up Real Short Hair with the Really Short Hair freebie. PERFECT.

    Here's the result: http://willbear.deviantart.com/art/FelicityF-punk2-570591347

(I hid the Punk hairdo's skullcap, and didn't use the Real Short Hair cap -- in Iray, I think skipping them is better for closeups in many cases)

I just wanted to pop in and say good job on this, as I myself actually did the same thing on a recent image (wth the punk hair and really short hair) and am now glad I'm not the only one who thought about it lol!

Where did you find a freebie for Real Short Hair...?

I finally finished the chainmail hauberk (more properly, maille hauberk). Took all day, mainly due to hitting various issues with workflow and the peculiarities of Iray Uber Shader and tiling: http://willbear.deviantart.com/art/Guard-post-570627657

VERY pleased with how it came out. When I use it again, I might try to apply the cowl/mantle as a separate piece from the rest of it, since usually they were two pieces.

I hate closeups, because I can't help but spot all the problems. ;)

Valley Girl   Daz 4.8 Iray & HDRi by HDR Labs

    Valley Girl.jpg
    667 x 1080 - 55K
  • Spent an evening playing with the iray skin settings and at the end produced this render.

It is V7 HD with a few tweaks to the shaders, seems OK to me but hoping to find out what other people think of it.

Still can't get hair to look any good though sad

The render was lit by an HDR only and took just over 7 minutes at 2000 x 3000 on a 780ti.

Skin looks great to me! I have been playing with V7 skin shader too trying to make it lighter, now I see it can be done really nice.

Spaceship cockpit coverting maps to light works great!     http://fav.me/d9fu5x3

The ability to easily make surfaces emit light without ballooning renders was one of the big things that sold me on Iray.

Yeah reality was decent at it too but its now collecting dust love what I can do with iray lighting this is inside the cargo hold. http://fav.me/d9fu5vy

I used an HRDI for the sky, surrounded the spaceship cabin with planes to block the light from bleeding in and have fluorescent lighting on the ceiling.

Shaders are neat but sre not necessary the only issue I ran into is when I tried to crank metalize on  the surfaces it crashed DS. Turning down the excess gloss did the trick.

I use Genesis and Genesis 2. The improvements in bones with G3 really make me salivate, but not enough to make me shift yet.

The degree of modification you can do without needing to buy stuff is impressive.

My son is really into this WiiU game, 'Splatoon,' featuring an amusing squid-themed paintball tournament thing, with squid-headed teens who can turn into squids and swim through ink. It's very cute.

I was inspired to pick up Anemone and make this: http://willbear.deviantart.com/art/Inkling-girl-570831906

Experimenting a bit. Trying to get good backdrops, and... there's something about quiet night-time scenes that appeal to me.

It occurred to me that the only thing I needed for a 'night time' backdrop was making a suitable cloudy sky and that I could just add in the stars instead of trying to render it all together. I did a fairly basic sky in Carrara, futzed with it, then put it in moonscape and some water (which ended up as titanium metal with some ripple patterns, heh)

    Looks great.

Pick Up a new G2f character today. I really love how much meat she has on her. and the skin texture is killer. I'm tying to get as much as I can out of my wishlist before daz goes to Daz Connect with version 4.9 because I'm not going with it.  So anyway this is  Natasha for Genesis 2 Female   My new fav girl

(you really got see how great she looks all natural .( Front)   (Back) she is really beautiful . )

Hmm, I missed her, but not paying close to full price. Wishlisted /nod

That HDRI integrates really well with the subject, good job!
