was a huge cake disappointment.  they were out of stock.

if it was out of stock why didn't their site say so?  was there a run on cake?

it feels way hotter than 87F out, the weather site has to be wrong.

cake! the cake was a lie!

why do so many stonemason sets have white haze on it?

is it supposed to be a dream sequence?

  • MistaraMistara Posts: 38,675

SO SAD no cake.  life been so disappointing lately.

Morning. Dark-hearted clouds rolling up on the pale winter sun shining without any hint of warm, I guess is too far away to make any difference so far today :)

If you mean misty renders distance haze is thought to add realism to large setups, makes a realistic depth map as well for extra defocussed photo realism. Haze tends toward blue here :)

    Time for Beeeg Badaboom!

(don't worry, that detonator is just the main trigger for a surprise programmed fireworks display)

    Hey great render :)

  • kyoto kidkyoto kid Posts: 41,925

...thanks, Yeah used a bit of depth haze in it as well. Trickier in Iray as you need to use volumetrics which really crush the render time.

  • ps1borgps1borg Posts: 12,776

For aome reason I don't understand the new generation of Mac Pro is around forty times faster with volumetrics than the older ones. the math part of the new Xeons is quicker I guess but stuff like that drives me crazy laughdevil

That's probably in the lighting setup, not the set itself.  It could be his idea of the big city...smog or haze from all the people breathing.  laugh

...yeah I have a first generation i7, still faster than my old duo core 1.6 GHz notebook

Nothing like the even the E-5 Haswell 8 core Xeons I am looking at though.

Odd that Cray is using 16 core AMD Opteron CPUs (non-hyperhtreading) in their latest supercomputer. nicknamed "Titan".

18,688 16 core Opteron CPUs for a total of 299008 processor cores.

18,688 Nvidia Tesla K20X GPU compute GPUs (6GB, PCI 2.0 x 16, 2340 CUDA cores ea) for a total of 46,645,248 CUDA cores

Physical Memory 693.5 TB (584 on the CPU Nodes + 109.5 on the Tesla GPU compute units)

    Storage: 40 Petabytes (that's 40,000, terabytes)

Single floating point compute speed (peak) 20 Petaflops

Plus, a recirculation system that takes all the heat generated by that stuff and heats the offices with it!   laugh

Heat dissipation has always been the real technical feat for Crays.

…oh, forgot the price on the Cray Titan, only 93$ million.

Quite a bit more modest is the workstation concept I have been working up:

    ...early Monday non complaint:.

Sometimes it pays to stay up a little past one's bedtime.

Took advantage of the Genesis Super Flash Sale and purchased the Genesis Supersuit, Supersuit Hero Pack and Cape for the Supersuit for the paltry sum of 79¢.  Would have actually paid nothing as I used my Monthly PC coupon and the cape was a PC item.

79¢ for over 77$ worth of content (and something I've actually been wanting), one of the best deals I've seen in a long time. More than makes up for missing using my coupons last month as well as tripling the 24$ invested in a 3 month membership.

Off to bed now,. See everyone later.

64 GB Ram seems to be a sweet spot, for what I do anyhow. Two E5's one the one bus will need some cooling,  better off rackmounting equipment like that imo :)

    I did another draw :3

    "Green Nargacuga"  ^^

Had to re-upload the image like, three times before it finally 'stuck'. First two times it came up as a broken image :L

    This is the normal Nargacuga.

    They're like cat-bat-dragons :D

Ninja Dragguns. Very swift and speedy, not very big though. Their eyes don't always glow red like in the first two pics, dramatic as it might be. Their eyes only start glowing like that when they're really angry ^^

Morning. Dawn's afterglow soft lighting roof and tower and bare branched tree to an impressionist version of our familiar skyline. Can't wait for some clear skies *impatient*

Good day!  Going to hit 100F here, dangerous heat warning all weekend, oh joy.  Do not want to go outside now.  sad May be best to order pizza and pasta, even the walk to the nearby Mexican place can be a painful trip.

Ice cold beer this afternoon.. yeah.. cool

...oh my goddess, it's water from the sky today.

No wonder all my joints are hurting like mad.

First time in a couple months, and we are supposed to be the "wet" part of the country.

    Blech, hope you feel better!!!

Domino's opens in 35 minutes, and at about the same time the Mexican place opens.  Will send out for food "for later", then once it arrives box it up and hed tot he Mexican place for huevos rancheros.  Once done there,  it's beer time! devil

Meanwhile, setting up the project directory for my next album (well, finishing set up) and working on a new song "Through The Trees".

New phone shipped, will be here next week, wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Can't tell you how much I'm enjoying the last album, kept me sane during the long dark days of the last few week's shoot :)

Awwww, thanks... blush Hop0efully will be finished by November or sooner!

    Monday Complaints!

    - It was already 78f when I woke up...
    - ..which was at 5:45am, because..
    - I had to sit outdoors for 2 hours to run a test, so I'm
    - Sweaty and tired and crabby and it's barely past 10AM!!

However, I have some cold grapes, string cheese, and Powerade Zero, so I slowly but surely feel better.smiley
