Assembly language is for master programmers only, as you can easily write totally unintellagble code with zero effort.  The only assembly in this system is chip initialization code and TI provided that.  It's excellently written.

Heh  - cut my teeth on IBM mainframe MVS Assembler many many moons ago.. in Assembler one can screw things up much faster and with far less code that in anything else.. ask me how I know..

Heh, how do you know? devil

I've coded x86 assembly, ARM assembly, MIPS assembly, 6502, 68000, MPS430.. brain hurts now.. will apply cold beer soon!

I took a course of assemby language but I still do not understand it.

Writing in a script language is like writing a short story.

Writing in FORTRAN is like writing a magazine article.

Writing in C is like writing a book starting in the middle and alternating backward and forward until you reach the beginning and end at the same time.

Writing in Assembler is like writing a set of encyclopedias from Post-It Notes in a tornado.

And let's not forget the languages  like "vi", "sed", "yacc" and "lex" where one writes using alphabet noodles and chicken scratchings to form encrypted and unpronouncable (i.e. unspeakable) magical spells.

VI, use on occasion.  yacc/lex, may God spare me from them for all eternity. indecision

And as my lasy post before I shave and head out for an ice-cold Dos Equis in the near-100 heat, I give you...

How about a plane with an image of the clockface on it and the areas around the face could be made invisible with a trans map? Then you could move the plane into place on the clock and parent it.

...the kitbash I did worked perfectly, the clock face glows nicely now.  I saved the modified BIg Ben as a Scene Subset for future use.

Not up on creating transparency maps.  I guess I could have done that in PSP but that app doesn't have a circular/elliptical selection tool like Gimp does.  I would have to use the "freehand" select which, with my unsteady hands, is a bad idea.

Still have no idea why manually applied maps line up differently in Iray than they do in OpenGL. If I had dual Titan Xs adjusting the offset would be easy in Iray view mode as the screen refresh time is pretty much Nil,  With only 1 GB of video memory, it is like taking your best shot with the lights turned off.

It's raining in Southern Califorina today, we've had a downpour for the last hour.

I'm 40 miles east of LA in Chino, CA. United States

    Rain

    Data from The Weather Channel

    Details

    • Feels Like 73°
    • Visibility 4mi
    • Humidity 90%
    • UV Index 1 (Low)

Tonight - Thunderstorms early, then cloudy skies after midnight. Low around 70 °F (21.1 °C). Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph (16.1 to 32.2 kph). Chance of rain 80%.

Tomorrow - Cloudy skies early, followed by partial clearing. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible. High around 85 °F (29.4 °C). Winds W at 10 to 15 mph (16.1 to 24.1 kph).

And Gov. Jerry says that Calif. is having the worst drought in years. cheeky

Cruel thing about drought is some rain brings hope which vanishes along with the water into the dry earth. Dry as a bone here again after a whole day of rain last week :(
