I like Sherri- her eyebrows have variation and there are good makeup options, from slight eyeshadow to darker ones. You also have a glossy lip option. The Unicorn Princess Hair looks good as a tie-back option, without showing the long braids, depending on the camera position. Rendering time is very decent- with the large 2000 pixels render, it took a couple hours, but with the 1000 pixels, it was 20% at 5 minutes, 75% in 25 minutes, and that includes using the entire set.

I frankly got the Getting Ready set because it reminds me of a doctor's waiting room and that will come in handy. Of course, it can also be used for its purpose of a home room.

The More expressions enhance the corresponding expressions that you have (such as anxious, happy, etc) so you get a new look. the first morph was "more smile open full face" and the second one was "charming." Look at the circled area though, it appears there is a small hole that is created above the top lip. Overall, I like what the expressions do, they don't seem stiff.

The Ciao Belle outfit had to be expanded a bit for the chest, but otherwise goes on like a dream.

The Relax and Fun has 20 poses and they are designed for Victoria 6, Josie, and the Genesis 2 Female.

I like the image. Too bad about the hole. Maybe it is a piercing gone wrong. =-)

Izarra for Genesis 2 Female(s) (Gypsyangel)
Toby Hair for Genesis 2 Female(s) and Victoria 4 (SWAM)
Playful Flirt Dress for Genesis 2 Female(s) (Aave Nainen)
Saint Tropez Outfit and Accessories (EmmaAndJordi)
    Mountain Villa (ImagineX)

You'll have to read what accompanies this dress, there's too much to try to mention. It's an Aave, so of course there's beautiful morphs for movement.

One thing- you can hide that neck insert if you want it to be more sexy. Also, note: the dress works with these poses:
    http://www.daz3d.com/playful-flirt-poses-for-genesis-2-females

That dress goes nicely with Saint Tropez accessories- love the shoes and bracelet to use with the Flirty dress- and not shown was the purse and the poses. You get a lot with the Saint Tropez Outfit and Accessories, be sure to read the product description. I did put the bracelet on Izarra but it's hard to see. It's really cute and matches the shoes. I like that you can make the jewels different colors- the border ones and the main ones, on the same piece.

Regarding Mountain Villa- Have to be honest, I don't like the brick at the corner, it doesn't match up. Increasing the bump/displacement would help with the texturing, but that brick placement makes it seem cartoony to me. Also, the brick pillars don't seem to have enough ups and downs in the outline- too squarish. The glass windows are not the fault of the vendor, when I loaded the set it said something about a file missing and I am assuming it had to do with those. The front door is quite charming with the glass design, just don't assume yours will look like mine due to the missing file. If I were using this set in a "keeper" scene I would bother to find it. The layout of the villa is quite fun and is very spacious. You'll find nooks and crannies to use.

Toby Hair is nice, however I do see a few crinkly areas and obvious bends right by the cheekbone that wouldn't be there. Overall, the flow of it is very good and they did a good job on the volume- you can reduce the top and sides independently to get a sleeker hairdo. There's also colors available.

The detail on the feet is pretty amazing Novica. I like that.

Has anyone got this 50% off DAZ originals to work? So far, Nothing I've added to my cart will trigger it. And I threw in some big ticket items.

I posted a nice one (I think) in the iRay thread.. I've spent a lot of time developing the lights and skin shaders.. it's not perfect, I should have made the bump stronger for that character but it was good for the one I originally developed it for (and can't show yet.) I'm still fighting with gemstones big time, I got gems down in 3DL no problem, they're really really annoying in Poser, and iRay has given me nothing but headaches. (Transparent ones, opaque ones are fairly straight forward)

Roisin does look nice, one of the better people renders that I've seen. Very good, totally agree :)
SereneNight- perhaps you and I will be the only two people not on the iray-bandwagon lol! I don't have time to relearn lighting after two years of getting things the way I want it, and with all the light sets I own it would be a waste not to use them, not to mention the light sets are very good and I WANT to use them. I use UE2 and if I recall from earlier iray threads, those aren't used with iray. Won't give up my UE2. It ranks up there with chocolate.

Actually there are quite a few of us who cannot use Iray. I can't afford to replace my computer, so I'll just be limping along with my 32-bit, single RAM for the next year or two. Maybe it's just my old eyes, but I don't see much difference between Iray and 3Delight renders.

I'm not switching to iray any time soon, either. My poor old scrap heap aka The Coffee Grinder does perform better after doubling its memory, but I think it has enough trouble with rendering as it is.

Besides, I'm an UE junkie and enjoy playing with random lights. I'm not against learning new stuff, but there is so much to learn already ;)

Good to know there's others out there, lol. Iray is another option, it's not the only option, and it's nice of Daz to make it available. I totally agree with you Mori_Mann, there's already too much left to learn! :)

    OT: Baby Beavers

I'm a monthly sponsor for a wildlife group out in Oklahoma, I first read about them 3 years ago when tornadoes devastated Moore and many other towns, wiping some off the map. In spite of the fact that this is a wildlife rehabilitation group, they used their own funds and cared for dogs and cats who were found roaming (in shock of course) and also helped owners whose homes were destroyed and the animals and owners had nowhere to go. They spent thousands of dollars to help, and I've followed them ever since. (Sadly, Moore was hit AGAIN with a major tornado last week!)

    I love their Facebook page-

On Facebook, you'll get to see a baby beaver chowing down on a twig- so adorable! It's a gotta see. (Edit- there's also a video of a baby raccoon who got moved to his big outdoor enclosure.)
    https://www.facebook.com/WildCareOklahoma

We have a beaver in the store too. Anyone render him?

In case you didn't notice this in the promos, you can deflate the hair quite a bit and it has an adorable wavy option. It's a DO so take advantage if you're getting that discount :) (See 5th thumbnail)

Reminder: If you're getting that 50% DO discount and need dinosaurs, head over to the Creatures and Animals. Most of them are only a couple bucks!

Yes, I've already told the moderators about it, but this got me so tickled I have to share. If you thought prices had increased...well, it could be worse.... ($349 for $122 for Bijou by Artemis.)

EDIT: I pulled the screenshot out of respect for the vendor. This product isn't supposed to be available for viewing yet. Looking forward to seeing Bijou for sale, she's beautiful.

But there's hope-- with the discount, she's ONLY $55.11.:ohh:
Edit: I am not finding her in the ReadMes- is she even supposed to be released yet? (Leave it to me to find a character I want that may not here yet.) A couple of us have discussed that neither of us remember this gal. Anyone else seen her before? There's been so many new released characters it's hard to keep track, but I do try.

Someone pointed out the item number is greater than the last released products so the price is a placeholder. Out of respect for the vendor I am going to pull the screenshot. :) Kudos to Artemis for her beautiful products. As you know, I'm a huge fan.

Well, I got another chuckle. Never knew it could be so much fun shopping. I did a double take at this, it looks like a dude sticking his tongue out! (It's not.) See image below, then see what it really looks like after the materials are applied. A bit different! (Can you see a muscular warrior running around with that OTHER thing in the middle of his chest? "Nah nah nah nah nah..."
EDIT: He looks like a ticked off Wario from Nintendo.

I even opened all the thumbs and it still looks like a dude with his tongue sticking out to me. Perhaps it's the emblem of the Tongue Clan.

LOL! Well, in one of the thumbnails the nose makes the face resemble more of a baby gorilla. I apparently have too much time on my hands. (Not.)

Hope everyone is having fun wrapping up their March Madness shopping. If they release a new figure I'm going to probably have to sit it out unless it's deeply discounted. I'm broke! Couldn't pass up stuff for under $3.

Anyway, I love Elize's eyes. Be sure to click to enlarge/click again as this is a 2000 pixel render. And of course, I like the eyebrows!

All fabulous renders lately, Elize is a real beauty, great job ;-)

Um....well this is a first. I am doing a render and I'm quite sure the hair has a person's name in the part. I've gotten a magnifying glass and it's quite clear. It's 3 words, but I can only make out two of them. Stay tuned, the render will be done hopefully in the next couple hours.
(Edit- a second person has confirmed the words without me telling them, so I'm not losing my mind.)

It sounds like the texture doesn't match the UV map and it's picking up an area it isn't supposed to, or else the maker of the hair texture deliberately put their name on the texture to avoid someone stealing their work. If it's so small as to be barely noticeable it could be the latter.

I can't wait to see this.

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,874

It's noticeable- I saw it. Makes the dark hair look like the roots are gray, that's what caught my attention. To me, it's annoying. While I understand trying to prevent theft, I don't like some vendor's name smacked onto the hair of my character. I wasn't looking for a vendor's name and it was apparent to me. "What's with the gray roots on one side?" Other people may not see it but I think if you add more lighting when using the dark colored hair, it will be even worse. (CLICK TO ENLARGE AND CLICK AGAIN.)

The hair is for G2F and that's the character it's used on. When I remove the character and only have the hair, the print doesn't show up.

It is also quite clear that the promo doesn't have it, and the part of that one is in shadow, similar to mine.

I identified the name first, my son also easily read it without me telling him, so then I typed in the name in Google with "Daz" and sure enough, it matches the vendor of the hair. Michelle Weber, aka Valea.

Kennedy is a real cutie- in different camera angles, she loses the Anne Hathaway similarity and becomes her own person. The Manga Student outfit has a really short skirt, but if you want to avoid that, you can substitute in a pair of shorts and have a really fun outfit. The shoes are cute too.

Rendering a full length one and will add it. Will be an hour or so.

I've never noticed it and I use that hair a lot.. it looks like the texture map is in the wrong place, you can see on the right side of your image the hair strands are kinda going horizontal instead of vertical.

I hunted it down.. it's only on "02 Hair Coffee", and it's because the diffuse texture map is calling the skull cap instead of the hair. So select all the matzones besides skullcap (ctrl to select all at once), click the diffuse color map, chose browse, select ValPhoebeH_T02.jpg and you're good to render.
