Attached from a recent New Yorker magazine.  A cat lady friend said they left out the dogs who join forces with the cats, the latter knocking stuff off the table so the dogs can chew it up.

to put in perspective the fire area in Victoria is larger than several European countries

Today at my place is around 40c ( 110F ) which should cool off around 5pm this arvo.

Nice render Stezza, looks real. Good luck in the heat. My toes nearly burnt off in the hot sand coming back from the surf this morning . Stay safe. At least you have your backyard billa bong,

We have two tubular mesh bird feeders hanging from tree limbs, filled daily with sunflower seeds.  We have learned there is no such thing as a squirrel proof bird feeder. frown

Be like us and have no squrrels :)

Other day ai accused me of using ai for my work. Now it has changed its mind...

There is no evidence that Andrew Finnie used generative AI to create his major exhibition works, such as "The Enlightening Journey of Mr. Hugo Ball" shown at the Maitland Regional Art Gallery (MRAG) in 2018.

Instead, Finnie's process is characterized by:

Digital Painting and Illustration: His works are described as "quirky digital artworks" and "digital paintings".

Manual Composition: Finnie explains that he "paraphrases" other artists' works by manually building on their ideas, using specific compositional references, chromatic palettes, and styles (e.g., Caravaggio, Vermeer, or Mondrian).

Historical Context: The majority of the digital images for his Mr. Hugo Ball series were created between 2016 and August 2017—prior to the widespread availability of mainstream generative AI art tools like Midjourney or DALL-E.

Technical Outputs: His works are finalized as physical archival pigment prints on Canson etching rag, often in limited signed and numbered editions.

While modern artists in 2026 may use AI for "trimming" or "retouching", Finnie’s documented methodology for his Maitland exhibition focused on deliberate digital homage and reinterpretation of Dadaist concepts.

Sounds like good advice, how do you do that?  Another problem is squirrels chewing on our big trees, leaving dead spots.  Our tree man says coyote urine might chase away the quirrels.  But then how do we get rid of the coyotes? frown

We have coyote eating drop bears. Maybe Stezza can send some over ;)

Murderous, falling from the trees, vicious, carnivorous koala-like creatures?  Mythical for tourists or not, I'll take my chances with the grounded coyotes.  We actually do have a coyote wandering our suburb: "Coyotes are present in Deer Park, TX, often using drainage ditches as travel routes and posing a threat to small pets, leading to sightings and concerns about missing animals".  [Google AI]  My wife, a very experienced observer of nature, has seen a coyote walking past our back fence.  So the coyotes urine may not be their only plus, if "small pets" includes squirrels.

With the hot weather I was surfing the net and downloading a few E-books on my laptop. Storm was coming through so I switched off in case of lightning strike.

Laptop made a strange short sound as it turned off. After the storm tried turning it on and it refused to go. Bought it in 2010 so it's done a bit of service.

Ordered a cheap refurbished Laptop - hope it gets me through a couple of years, only got a small SSD on it so that will limit what programs I put on it, will mainly use it for surfing the web.
