I have solved the problem. It was a setting in the downloading settings.
I managed to download DIM on my m1 Mac mini, but the OS refused to run the install package, saying it's author could not be verified. Is it talking about an unsigned executable? I have zero experience with Macs... is there something else I need to do?

No errors found in WinRar. I don't use a 3rd party anti-virus or anti-malware.
How do you right-click on a Mac? It seems to do the same thing as left click. God, I feel stupid :)
Depends on what you use. A multi button mouse, right mouse button, a touchpad or singlebutton mouse, you either hold down the CTRL key while clicking, and for a touchpad you can go into the mouse-trackpad preferences uner System Settings and configure how you want to right click to work.

Hey! If you go into settings and click on mouse, there's an option where you can have the right side of the mouse act like a right mouse button. I gave up my Mac two years ago, but I always had it set up that way so I'd have the right mouse button.
When this happens, go to System Preferences > Security and privacy and allow it there.
Rightclick and Open... will to that, tell Gatekeeper that you trust the application and Gatekeeper will tag it with the quaranteen-ok tag.
Just a big yay! to everyone who made it possible. The pandemic was tough enough without daz to work with. Now I can get back to months of unfinished work! yay!
Thanks! It worked with CTRL-Click, I did get DIM installed, I bought the Beta, but it doesn't show up in DIM and the regular release sure enough the OS says "Killed." when run. Which is what happens when there's an uncaught exception and glibc converts it into an Abort signal. I'm stuck again.
All this just so I'll be able to build Sagan when the SDK is updated... maybe I'll just wait until all this gets ironed out.
Check your filters in DIM so you show the Beta as well!

New crash: after several renders with no problem (all from the same file, not saved) I stoped a render and Studio crashed. It was nothing fancy, just a character, no cloths or hair. Once in a (long) while I see this behaviour in 4.10, so probably is nothing new related with this version.

Once I find the Beta, do I uninstall the production release, or install the beta alongside it? Then, how does one distinguish the beta and run it, if I may impinge on your time a little more?
You can install the Beta alongside it, and there will be a separate listing\icon for the Beta.

Post the content of the second of the two DIM log files; Settings (cog wheel at top left)/Show helper log... It's just a text file, check it doesn't have anything in it you regard as personal. The relevant information will be towards the end.

But helper log was not recorded.
DIM; click on the curous cog wheel at the top right. A "drop down" menu will appear. At the bottom is an entry "Show helper log...". Move the mouse carefully downwards and when that entry changes colour (blue on my system but your version may vary) left-mouse-button-down-and-immediate-release on it.
Tell us what happens.
On my macOS Big Sur 11.5, sorry to say that I downloaded the Beta Daz3D and Daz Central, and where the Daz Central seems to be working, Daz3D refuses to engage and open. Thoughts?

Based on what you wrote, you have not installed the beta version but the released version DS 4.15.02 that does not work on BigSur.

You can’t install betas with Daz Central, only with DIM. So my guess would be that you didn’t install the latest beta but the latest release version, which doesn’t work with Big Sur.
Om my M1 Mac Mini with Big Sur DIM installed and works correctly; it has been able to install all the content but keeps failing installing DAZ and the CMS
So the helper application doesn't even start (i.e. it doesn't start then stop or crash for some reason). This is consistent with other reports in this thread; content installs but things that use the the helper do not. It works for other people so it's most likely something to do with the DIM installation itself. The only obvious thing is that the old (Dec 2020) helper version number, 1.5.x, is "newer" than the new DIM version, 1,4,0,80 in this case - on Windows (at least) the version numbers of the helper and the main app are identical but this may well not be true if the helper had to be updated.
Apart from the obvious solution of contacting DAZ support the thing that I would probably do is de-install DIM then re-install it. It's worth checking the installation directory (i.e. where the program is); it will be "DAZ 3D/DAZ3DIM1" or something like that, it should hold two programs, DAZ3DIM and DAZ3DIMHelper; if you can find it (I don't know the exact file system layout) check that the Helper program exists... From Windows the program files themselves seem to have been built over a year ago but some of the DLLs (.dylib on MacOS IRC) changed recently. DIM updates automatically updates, if that is messed up re-installation may help.
EDIT (2021-8-20): The Windows DIM just got an update. If I remember the previous dates correctly one of the DLLs was actually downgraded in the update (it got a couple of days older.) I suggest restarting DIM and checking for updates.
