    Good luck Trouty! (^_^)/

    +1 :)

I give myself 4 months to complete my first full length (70+) album, then a month break, then another 4 months for the next one, then a Winter rest, the back into it! I should easily be able to kick out 2 albums a year!

    It's all about FOCUS. Fooooooooooooooooooooooooooooocusssssssssssssssssssssssss...

I'll post snippets in here for your listening (dis?)pleasure, like render drops (lol).

New year - new plan! :snake:

Oh man looking forward to those snippets :) From what I been hearing on my ipod your tracks just keep on getting better, wow :)

    Awwww, thanks... :red: :red:

I think I'm improving.. the more time I spend on it, and the great critiques my peers give me, help me get better every day! :cheese:

I got up at 6 this morning and it was 24 F. At 7:30 my SIL called to tell me he's not bringing the 3-yr old for me to babysit today. Now what am I going to do today? Found a ride to the grocery yesterday so I don't need to do that. I could finish storing my Christmas decos. Or clean the house. Or work on categorizing all those items in my Unassigned. My preference is crawl back in bed with a book and chocolates.

I'd vote for back to bed, myself. :)

This morning at 6AM: 14F! :ahhh: High should be close to 37F. Sitting warm in the office, have soup for lunch. :)

...the last one sounds the best.

Looked out the window this morning, windy and rainy - my least two favourite weather conditions, particularly together.

Crawling back under the blankets sounds like an excellent idea.

    ...for me looking at GPUs.

Most of the 4GB desktop ones at Newegg are including a free game or 150$ credit in games, I don't do games, I'd rather get the 150$ off the price of the GPU. Looking for decent VRAM as I am getting into GPU assisted rendering. Anything more than 4 GB gets pricey, especially for the workstation units like FirePro or Quadro.

The real rub is for LuxRender, AMD is better as they have more advanced OpenCL drivers, but for Photoshop CC and other applications NVidia is usually recommended.

Setting up two scenarios: the dirt cheap just max out my current system, and designing a new one using a Dual LGA2011 server board starting with a single 8 core Xeon Processor 64 GB DDR4 memory, and 4GB GPU as a basis for future expansion to dual CPUs and 256GB memory as income and demand warrants.

On the software side, Photoshop CC subscription looks like a go. Modelling is the tough point as most applications are going the "all in one" route (modelling, rendering, animation, make your coffee, etc) rather than just a dedicated polygon/vertex modeller with UV mapping. Those that don't have all the bells & whistles are the low end applications like Hexagon, Silo and various open source applications ("perpetual beta test") . In the "middle" there's ZBush but it is more of polygon a sculpting application rather than traditional polygon/vertex modeller.

Cold, brain hurts, still not feeling 100%, going to lay down for a bit

Ok, lined up a Few Small Purchases for Friday after next payday:

    - 2TB backup device
    - USB hub
    - Power strip
    - Second QuNexus

That should do it for most of this year. One major musical purchase is planned for this year:

    http://www.bestservice.de/en/forest_kingdom_ii.html

..a fairly major investment.but valuable for future album plans, hopefully Album #2 will be "The Feathered Serpent" and will be an electronic soundscape album inspired by the legend of Quetzalcoatl. :cheese:

    ..sounds cool.

Programme looks petty neat as well. Does it support input from an external keyboard?

Well it's "Ronnie Raygun nappy time" for me. Be back in a while.

Well it's "Ronnie Raygun nappy time" for me. Be back in a while.

That version needs what's called a "host" - a "digital audio workstation (DAW)" program - to communicate with the outside world. I have 3 DAWs (Tracktion 5, my go-to; SONAR X3; and Sony Acid Music Studio 10). The DAW accepts the input from an external MIDI device (in my case, a Keith McMillen QuNexus) and sends note and control into to the plug-in instrument (like Forest Kingdom), which then interprets that information and creates a sound. The plugin uses digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms if various kind to make the noise - such as act like a hardware synthesizer, or play back manipulated audio waveforms.

10 years ago this crap took a huge studio. My PC now has more audio processing power than most physical music studios in the world. Hooray technology!
