I'm having some issues installing the bridge. Tried both DIM and Daz Central, but I'm getting nothing in either Blender or Daz Studio (neither under scripts nor in the send to menu).

I've e had a rummage about the files in DIM. Download size is ~10MB and it only reports installing 2 files. A dll in the same folder as other plugins (where measure metrics gets installed) and a dsx file in the docs folder. Both of those add up to around 10MB.

Dont know if I'm missing something here or if the downloaded file has been packaged incorrectly. I've no references to the bridge in the add-ons/plugin sections of both Blender and Daz. The other bridges I've installed show up fine.

    Any advice?

I've had a look at the files list for DTB:

    • Application Data :

      • /Blender Foundation/Blender/DAZ 3D Add-ons/DTB_v280-283.zip

      • /DAZ 3D/Studio4/RunOnce/Daz to Blender_Install.dsa

    • DAZ Studio :: 4.5;4.x Public Build;4.x Publishing Build;4.x Private Build :

      • /docs/Plugins/Daz to Blender/Daz to Blender.dsx

      • /resources/images/icons/bridges/Daz to Blender.png

      • /resources/images/icons/bridges/Daz to Blender_Genital.png

      • /resources/images/icons/bridges/Daz to Blender_MorphExporter.png

      • /scripts/support/DAZ/Daz to Blender.dsa

      • /scripts/support/DAZ/Daz to Blender_Genital.dsa

      • /scripts/support/DAZ/Daz to Blender_MorphExporter.dsa

The download has only one of the above files plus the aforementioned dll that isn't listed at all. Looks like a broken distribution to me. Is this the right place to bring it to the attention of someone or would it be better raising a ticket?

Nevermind - solved it. Good job my trade is software engineering. It'd have been easier if there'd been no documentation, tbh. Better than bad documentation, anyway. Distribution/install definition needs to be looked at (and it's causing a lot of people problems going by my research).

    Hello Blender Bridge Team!

I need to export my Dazz characters to web. It would be excelent to be a Dazz Web Viewer, I hope that will be on your plans. Or maybe an export plugin to gltf directly from Daz would be awsome.

However, I need to use Bridge Daz to Blender and then export to gltf, but it looses their textures and colors.

While I read the Blender and export plugin documentatation. Do you or someone knows how to export my characters from DAZ to Blender to GLTF with colors and textures?

    I attach the screenshots.

Tank you in advance. Have a nice day.

You can try diffeomorphic with the "single principled" option for materials, which exports fine to gltf and fbx, but some complex daz materials will be simplified and you may need to fix them. Base attibutes as diffuse and specular will work fine.

    https://diffeomorphic.blogspot.com/

p.s. I'm not part of the daz team. From what I see it seems the bridge is discontinued since there are no news from a long time.

So I tried to install the new DTB Bridge just to see what they worked on and it's now gone from my send to section in Daz. I look at my DIM and it shows the file size is -1KB. Also tried to install from Daz Central, still doesn't show up in Daz. Anyone get the new update to work?

I am trying to track down the cause of this issue.  Are you using Mac or Windows?  How many versions of Blender do you have installed, and what versions?  Do you currently have the DazToBlender Add-on installed in each Blender installation?  Please also create a bug report on Github with these answers.  Thanks

I'm using Windows 10 and I have a version of Blender 2.93, 3.0, 3.3, and 3.5 installed on my computer. I have the add on from one of the earlier iterations (it says version 2022.2.17.40) installed in all my blenders, but I thought I had to reinstall it in Daz through the new Bridge from the install instructions. And now that I've uninstalled and reinstalled it in Daz, I can't get it to show up in Daz anymore. Thanks so much for looking into this!

I'll try to create a github bug report in a bit here, I've never done that before.

Thanks for the info.  The new version has a restored DIM installation script which will search your computer and automatically install the new version of the add-on into any version of Blender that it finds (that is supported -- 2.83 to 3.6).  You now only need to do the Blender Plugin Install step for any new Blender installations that you've done after installing from DIM.  Now during DIM installation, it will normally just overwrite any existing files, but there is some edge case where DIM is encountering an error.

Please post the DIM log to github if possible:
    1. Open DIM
    2. Select COG icon dropdown menu in the upper-right corner of the dialog window
    3. Then select Show Log...
    4. The log.txt should open in a text editor window.
    5. Use File -> Save As to save a copy of this log.txt on your computer, then post this file to your github bugreport.

    Thanks much

After posting saving a copy of that file, you can try this work-around:
    1. Open each version of Blender
    2. Select Edit -> Preferences on the menubar
    3. Click the Add-Ons tab on the left
    4. Find the Daz to Blender add-on and click the Remove button.
    5. Repeat for each version of Blender.
    6. Try re-installing with DIM

I got it to work! The problem was I was installing it while I had Daz open rendering something else. I always leave Daz open when I install things through DIM with no problems so I didn't think anything of it, but I looked at the DIM log like you mentioned and I saw something that looked odd, I turned off Daz and installed it and it worked just fine. I never would have put two and two together unless you said to look at the log. So I got it working, I appreciate your help!

Has anyone been able to get poses to work in the Daz to Blender Bridge?

I have the last 5 Blender versions installed on my PC and the latest bridge poses don't import in any version of Blender.

I also tried editing my .py file, that worked with the last bridge but does not work anymore.

Has anyone had any luck exporting converted Gen 8 to 9 figures to Blender?

Figures converted with the RSSY bodysuit; they have Gen 8 textures on a Gen 9 figure.

When I attempt to bridge these converted figures to Blender nothing at all exports.

It would be nice to use Gen 8 textures on a Gen 9 figure in Blender but that does not seem to work at all.

Also, Gen 8 and 8.1 figures come into Blender with their shoulders distorted.

And as I mentioned, poses are not importing for me in any version with any figure.

I wish that part had not been broken with the latest update.

But a great thing is that the eye textures now import correctly into Blender! That is really nice!

I have noticed that when importing meshes that glass, emissives and some metals don't seem to export properly.

My experience with Blender is their glass shaders are hard to get right, They have a refraction problem and this distorts the view through the glass.

The only way I found to fix this was to shut off the glass entirely and leave it blank with the illusion that there was glass in the window.

I tried several node-based glass solutions in Blender and did not find one that I liked.

So, scenes do not export correctly, and figures and their poses do not export correctly.

I hope this project gets some love and these issues are all fixed soon.

Thanks for your efforts on this Daz to Blender Bridge!

Make sure you are using the "Import Pose" option and not trying to Pose the character in Daz Studio:

    - Most official Daz Store poses should still work, this functionallity has not changed
    - Importing custom User poses is on the TO DO list for a future update
    - Importing pre-posed Daz Studio characters will also be in a future update

    RSSY body suit:
    - Try this workaround: https://github.com/daz3d/DazToUnreal/issues/44#issuecomment-1616582114

If possible, please post your issues and bug reports to the github bug-report page so we can keep track them.  Thanks

Installed the latest DIM, deleted, downloaded and installed the brideg aagain, still does not show up in Daz

This is what shows in the About Plugins

    "Plugin failed to load!
    Filename :
    C:/Program Files/DAZ 3D/DAZStudio4/plugins/dzblenderbridge.dll
    Name :
    dzblenderbridge
    Author :
    Unknown
    Version :
    0.0.0.0
    Reason :
Library could not be loaded. File is not a valid DAZ Studio plug-in, or was made for a different version of DAZ Studio."

Why would DIM let me install it if it's not made for this version?

    Daz 42105

    Thanks

Good afternoon. Please tell me what is the reason for the incorrect display of some poses. After successful transfer, I select the skeleton of the character and go to the import point, some poses are transferred with a strange offset or incorrect display, and sometimes such an error pops up(https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZpVacMG2MCLUFHyElWKg85J48qp1EO6V/view?usp=drive_link). Tell me how to correctly transfer poses from the Daz with the removed restriction of bones.

    Hello Blender Bridge Team,

I have a issue when i'm trying to import my (Poser) model Victoria 4 from DAZ3D to Blender with the Daz to blender plugin.
When I assign a pose to the model and import it into blender, the legs cross and the limits seem inverted (left thigh limit to right thigh, Rthigh limit to Lthigh), even when the limits are turned off.

Any idea to solve this ? Thanks.

    Hello team!

I have an issue that makes the rigging tool disappears in Blender, making me unable to change IK/FK at all.

Also, my downloaded models have bones with names that cannot be recognized by Blender (left or right), which means that when I toggle the "x mirror" on, the mirrored bone is not moving accordingly.

    Please help!

    Thanks.

I noticed that the bridge only import GNS 8 F to Blender. All other GNS won't work and I got the message error, image attached. It's been one month I am trying to fix it :(

Hi, Is there an option to send Blender files, including the animated parts of Blender props to Daz via the bridge. I'm not a big user of Blender, I only downloaded it years ago because a talented person made several Matt Smith Tardis interiors. I would love to use them in Daz Studio.

The bridge is from Daz Studio to Blender, not vice versa. That said, the current Daz Studio Beta has had many improvements made to its FBX import so it may be worth trying that route.

Is there a Daz to Blender Bridge for Daz Studio 4.1.1?

I can't remember what version of Blender I have but it's one of the latest. When I go to select which version, it only goes up to 3.6.

    Hi there.

Hope this is the right place to ask this question. I'm using Blender 4.2, and I've succesfully transferred a Genesis 9 figure across from Studio 4.23

Is there a tutorial or manual for activating IK? I've seen references to using the 'to Rigify' button, and I can see there are some IK constraints in the rig, but I can't get them to operate correctly.

    Thank you.

    DAZ Studio 4.21 Pro
    Daz To Blender Bridge 2022.2

Hello! I've been using an older version of DAZ Studio, along with an older version of the Bridge, for many years now and it's worked perfectly for my creative pipeline, up until now. I ran into a problem I had not encountered yet: Apparently, trying to export a character with geografts (specifically, genitalia) causes the graft to collapse into a singularity at the world origin. So far as I can tell, it seems to be caused by the morph exporting process. In Blender, many of the body morphs cause the mesh to distort, because they did not get written properly. Huge bummer!

Anyway, I'm considering upgrading to the latest version, but I really don't want to if it's not going to help anything. I tend to be reluctant about updating unless I need to, as I often find newer versions of things can introduce their own bugs or compatibility issues within my pipeline, or have features removed entirely. And like I said, DTB has worked brilliantly within my pipeline for years, up until I've run into this one silly issue. So I guess I just needed to know a few things before I take the plunge:

    1) Is this a known bug in v2022.2, and has it been fixed in the latest version?

    2) Will the latest version of Bridge still work with DAZ Studio 4.21 Pro, or will I need to update that as well?

    3) Will the latest version of Bridge still work with Blender 3.6, or do I need to update to Blender 4?

Thank you for any help, and before anybody mentions it, yes I've tried Diffeomorphic. It's not for me. Honestly, all I really need is to get the character mesh and the morphs exported to Blender, because I completely re-rig and weight-paint all my characters anyway.

Hmm, okay, now this is getting weird...

So, I generally work with characters who have clothes, so I don't know when this bugged out me. But I had vague recollections that I'd been able to export a character with genitals before without issue. I did a little bit of digging and was able to find a character from 2022 whom I had exported from DAZ to Blender, with gens, and it exported fine. So this is something that's been introduced at some point, but I don't know what could have possibly changed. Maybe something updated automatically? Did something happen to a bind pose somewhere? Any suggestions would be a big help.

Also, I noticed it's still warping the geografts even if I don't export morphs, so now I'm not even sure that's where the breakage is happening.

  • ilnyneilnyne Posts: 33

Another thing I'm noticing, is that character scaling is off after the export. For example, if I have a character scaled down by 75 percent, when I export them to Blender, the character comes in at 100 percent scale, but the auto-generated rig is at 75 percent. This scaling issue is definitely at the heart of what's going on. I'd upload an image, but that's apparently not a feature on this forum. Is no one else having this problem? This is a major monkey wrench for me; I verified this process worked three years ago when I was prototyping, and now all of a sudden it's not working, for no discernible reason.
