For me it was 46% Off - I thought it was a glitch, but figured it out =  Flash Sale 16% + 24% Plus Purple banner 20% + 10%.  Gift card > $300

Damn, close to 40% off gift cards, I definitely am not buying a gift card with just 24% now.

Actually, with all discounts it can be more than that

The flash sale gives 24% in total if you buy a gift card over $300. That's what it gives, nothing more. If the purple banner gives 20%, it should be around 40% in total. I don't know how you got more than that.

You get an extra 10% off if you buy one of the new releases in the Wizard promo.  From looking at the flash sale promo again, you're right and the gift card should be 24% off if over $300, but I guess due to a glitch, it gave me the 16% off for gift cards over $200 too... Attached a pic of my last cart.

Here is the calculation on my $2000 Gift Card:

    16% 24% 20% 10%   1680.00 1512.00 1209.60 1088.64

Where is the 10% for a new item from the Wizard promo mentioned? I don't see any such offer.

There is an extra 10% indeed from the headshop offer (you need to buy 3 items in total and use coupon code).

Anyways, congrats for the nice discount :).

It's part if the exclusive offer for early buyers of Dain Pro Bundle and/or Fantasy Bundle

Take a look at the 4 offers in the Purple Banner.  It was the third one, with a link to the qualifying items, to get the extra 10%.

edit:  Sounds like there are different Purple Banners, as I didn't have to use any "coupon", just buy one of the qualifying new releases to unlock another 10% off a gift card.

3 more items from HEADSHOP banner with LOOK-AT-ALL-THIS code and you could get another 10%. I was trying to put $2000 Gift Card to my cart but this "Glitch" didn't happen to me ;D

Anything above 20% is highly unusual; Even unintended, like the stacking between the two offers.

It happens, but not very often.

I know exactly how it feels to miss out on unintended, high discounts on Gift Cards. (If you hang out in the forums, it will happen to you sooner or later.) But that doesn't mean I'm going to pass on one discount because somebody else stumbled on an unintended better deal.

24% is still $24 per hundred, or about the average retail price of one store asset, not including bundles. So buying $300 of store credit for $228 means I'm going to get at least thee more products for that $228 than if I just the paid "cash" equivalent for my next several orders. YMMV

Over 20% used to be highly unusual. I think the first year or so I was shopping here I rarely got more than 15-18% but in the last 6 months or so stacking gift cards have become quite popular and most of the discounted gift cards I have bought have been north of 30%.

  • HavosHavos Posts: 5,576

I also used the HEADSHOP offer to get another 10% off, and after I had added the 3 items needed to trigger the additional 10% the cart price actually fell by a few dollars (and the added items were effectively free). Gift card was 45% off, which is a new record for me.

I did not really need the store credit, as I had plenty already, but now, in theory, I am good for the next 6 months, but alas I suspect it will last a lot less than that!

Looks like you guys have discussed the gift card craziness aleady.  Short form, I took a pass on the headshop sale, so I missed out on that 10% off.  Felt that the buyin was too high.  But, I had the purple banner for purchasing the Dain 8 pro bundle in time, but hadn't bought the Dain fantasy bundle yet so that was in my cart as my new item, and I also threw in the torn clothes from the other sale for the extra 10% off (purple banner prereq as I remember).  When it was all said and done, 39% off for a $301+ gift card.  Not too shabby!  And I now have the Dain fantasy bundle, which I wanted anyways.

I could have saved another 6% I suppose with the headshop sale, but as I said the buy-in looked a little steep at the time, based on the amount I picked for my gift card.  Plus, now I could theoretically use the store credit on those headshop items, so said 39% discounted store credit more than offsets the 10% off in the Headshop sale if I wanted that stuff.

The gift card flash sale won't last of course, but it worked for me at least.  I'm at least partially prepared for March Madness/Mehness, depending on how medoicre or insane that sale ends up being this year.

There's an additional bonus on the purple banner if you bought both bundles by January 30.  That takes that discount to 28%, which is why so many of us were upset that that discount had disappeared and been replaced by a "measly" 24% off.  And yeah, my total discount was at 46% too, so I bought a LOT of GC power at that rate.

  • XelloszXellosz Posts: 855

And people will be crying at the begining of the MM why they didn't get bonuses when they did buy GC earlier then the sale official start....

  • I am confused with DAZ maths.

G8 Pro bundle = $35 (70% off). Mousso's New Romina $13.95 (30% off). Weekend sale: 10% extra off if both in cart at same time. Total cart $39.94.

This is maths like none I have come across before. If the 10% was taken off the $48.95 total, it should have been $44.05. But the cart says $39.94. Which is 20-ish % off. I am confused. Feel as if DAZ my be discounting beyond the sale.

By my calculations, the cart is taking off 20%. Looks like a glitch in your favor; The pro bundle should discount 20%, but the new release only 10%.

The pro bundle seems to be getting a little more than 20, but the new one is getting 10. Since they are different discounts, each item seems to be discounted and then added up.

Does anyone see any value in the Build your own bundle offer?

For me it seems a really bad offer as the discount on items is only 60%, normal sale discount but it forces you to buy 4 new items to get that discount.

How is that a good offer?

The value (at least to me) is in what it does to the new items, provided you want four or more of them - normally you have to wait two months until they're no longer new for that amount of discount.

True, if you like the new items, it's a very nice discount on them.

For me poses are rarely interesting as I like to build my own and I don't like the face wounds so the new items are not so interesting.

Some of the rest of the items could have been interesting but not at the price of buying 4 new items I don't necessarily care for.

    Can't win 'em all.
    wink

Today's new releases don't really appeal to me, either. But there have been offers where I couldn't afford to buy all the things I wanted, even at deep discounts.

There's a very good reason our mantra is "There's always another sale!" Today's offer is going to appeal to a lot of Daz customers, many of whom would be bored with an offer that appealed to me. Tomorrow it could be the other way around. But to be honest, I'd be fine with only one sale a week hitting my sweet spot. Then again, my Product Library has 226+ pages of products…

Edit: Ok, so if we start with what Daz says the start price is on the pro bundle (g8 pro is $35) then 20% off for the new item in the cart makes it the expected $28.00.

I didn't realize the 2.20 items for the Dain Pro Bundle page were going to disappear early. That's a bummer, there was a few I wanted to load up on.

I'm quite amused by the choice in the "Select Weapons and Warfare Items" - they include a handbag set (maybe not so weird because I suppose you can hit someone with a handbag?) but also a flock of butterflies, a baby's pram and a grand piano.

ETA: And that's just at the top of the first page, it gets even more random.

Sounds like one of the render challenges around here.  "Incorporate all of these items into your render..."

I'd have to see if there's a free baby carriage .obj around somwhere.  Didn't feel the need for that one, but I have equivalents for the other items...

    cheeky

  • LeanaLeana Posts: 12,749

Well, to be fair, grand pianos are quite often used as "drop weapons" in cartoons ;)

  • Thanks Chris for explaining it. The wording always strikes me as obscure, and - even though my daily life involves calculations all day long - I am left confused by the maths.

    Regards,

    Richard.

Is anyone else having issues with the Gift Card Flash Sale?

It says "buy any new release" and gift card over $300 to get the deal, but not all new releases work. Think this is a bug? One in particular I want is a PC+ New Release. Do those not count?

  • MelanieLMelanieL Posts: 7,720

I couldn't get it to work with a PC+ item either - but I had a banner offer for the "Wizards, Ninjas and Creatures" sale and one of those new releases worked fine.
(I had wishlisted it for the future anyway, so the future just came a little sooner than I planned)

    Readme issue with https://www.daz3d.com/marilla-hd-for-genesis-8-female

While it has the readme, it is malformed, missing the core section with the artist, release date, etc. Plus it has a tag at the bottom that we shouldn't see. :D
