Broken Daz "Survey Monkey" Business

Several questions need a "would probably stop shopping at DAZ if above introduced" option before I can finish the survey.

  • SBibbSBibb Posts: 600

I had the same issue with it not wanting to accept my answers, both on Chrome and Internet Explorer. I finally tried what was suggested here of just clicking "Done" until it finally accepted it, and it eventually went through.

I replied to the email and sent a support ticket through the site (wasn't sure which was better to do), when it first happened.

But yeah, a couple of the questions could have used an option for "none of the above" since their answers are going to be skewed without it.

Still, I don't mind the survey, especially with the coupon offer, and I wouldn't mind seeing the ability to gift coupons to friends in the future. :-)

Something weird happened with the survey, possibly with some branching logic. The survey requires multiple "Done" clicks because there are multiple pages with the same second set of questions repeated (if you haven't taken the survey yet, you can see this in the question numbering that continues to go up over multiple pages).

I'm sure it's too late now, as they probably only have one wave of surveys, but something to ask Survey Monkey about next time...

  • Reading this and having just filled out the survey it appears it wasn't really tested before sending out the mail, well that and Q7. is obviously crap. ... which items, if any ... yet you have to pick one. *shakes head* Seems the marketing department insists that we would be willing to pay premium on one of their great ideas and won't take "no" for an answer. :P

  • All I have to say, is that if they're planning on raising the price of the PC+ membership, I'm done.

  • I had to basically shut down my NoScript and AdBlock to answer the survey... now I'm grumpy.  :-(  Enough that I answer Daz's questions, but now everyone knows...

  • Question #7 asks “Which of the following would you be willing to pay for, if any.” It definitely needs a none button because it asks “if any”. It won’t let you leave it blank, but you can select all three choices. When I finished the survey and hit done, I noticed that it went back to the start of the survey but started with the question re-numbered as 20. Each time I hit done (I had to hit it 3 times) it went back to the start of the survey and increased the numbering on the questions. It was supposed to only be 19 questions according to 19 of 19 questions answered green display box, but it looks like I answered more, with each one being counted 3 times. I really don’t want any of the new options offered, and I certainly don’t want to pay more for any of them or an increase in the pc+ club membership price. I would like an updated manual to the latest studio release so that maybe I can figure out how to use all of the tools that are currently included and get the full advantage of them.

The accuracy of the results from this survey will be highly suspect. If DAZ had to pay survey monkey for this, maybe they can return it within 30 days for a refund. At least everyone gets a $5 coupon to use.

Not if you didn't say it in the survey, you're not!  cheeky

I would love to have seen an "Other" option with a blank to fill in for what I'd like to see in the PC+.

  • I agree with those who mentioned there should have been a "don't care" or "none" option. I can't recall the question number, but I gave up on the survey after #7, so that might have been it, but whatever number it was it was the rank in order the most important things in a membership one would like, but I actually don't like the idea of another level of membership at all - PC+ is enough - as I feel it's just a new ploy to get new revenue from fees. Re that question I was also baffled as the instructions were to rate what was most important, but it didn't specify if a score of 10 = most important (as in a 5 star rating is better than a 1), or if 1 = most important ( as in a pop chart where the #1 is the best seller). One other reason I gave up at that point is that I completed the previous survey they had and I never received my $5 coupon! I kept meaning to contact customer support about it, but never got around to it as it's one of those tedious jobs I'd happily pay a friend $6 to do for me! laugh

One other key point: I really don't like the idea of an elite in a new membership getting priority customer service as (a) it means all others get non-priority treatment; and (b) priority customer service should be the default for all customers all of the time!

ON 7 pick Access to Exculsive content  and ON 12 write Public Artist tools, dforce hHair tools etc.... as Exculsive content

Wouldn't you be willing pay more for better tools like what the PAs use? People have been crying about it that they don't get those thing, now they have a chance to tell DAZ through a survey. And who knows DAZ might listen to the survey.

  • hoping they're not thinking of turning the use of daz into subscription pay to use it like photoshop and others cause I can not offord that

    Agreed. That would be awful.

I didn't even think of that. I was going on the idea that 1 was most important and 10 was the least important.

I hope they'll consider revising the survey and redoing it, even if they choose not to do a second set of coupons.

I had to click the done button a few times too. For the question about what would make me not want to join, I said additional charges beyond the membership fee for things that are only offered to members. Hopefully they get the point.

So I received a Daz survey email.  I filled out the thing, but the last page is stuck in a loop, and keeps coming up again after I click the "DONE" button.  Oh well.

..yeah I've noticed that as well.  After the third try at clicking the "Done" button it finally filed.

The problems with the DAZ surveys is that the questions they ask and the options they give are basically giving them exactly the result they are looking for. It's basically manipulating/forcing you into a certain way of answering. What it won't give them is a feedback of what customers really want, or pointing out failing issues.

Whoever creates those surveys might want to re-read carefully whatever books they used during their university studies.

I've canceled most surveys I've tried to take so far (not from DAZ, but anywhere) because they were badly designed, questions having too few options, leading questions, forcing me to answer personal questions I don't want to answer, or whatever.

Maybe they fixed it. Were you forced to select an item you'd be willing to pay for in question 7?

No. Whenever I only ticked one or two boxes, instead of all of them, I kept clicking 'OK' (or 'DONE') until the survey accepted it.

SurveyMonkey sucks as much as Daz3d's store software, but you can get around it - usually.

Last Survey Monkey I did was impossible not DAZ one then they kept spamming my email, Survey Monkey not the company who used it so I had to finally report it as spam as it ignored my unsubscribes so not doing anything more with them

OK, had same problem. Thought the survey could have been sharper, especially where you look at subscriptions. But my impression is that things surged ahead when Daz moved from pay (I paid in them days) to free, and some questions suggest a desire to increase monetisation via subscription or by charging more for PC+, which might well move things in a different direction. So I was a bit surprised by this.

On the 1 to 10" ten item list - I also went with 1 as most interesting/important of the 4 I'd even consider - there were two I didn't care about, and IIRC there were  four that fell into the general category of "don't even think about charging me for these.

hoping they're not thinking of turning the use of daz into subscription pay to use it like photoshop and others cause I can not offord that

The way I read it is that they are considering replacing PC+ with a general, subscription-based membership option. This would create a two-tier customer-base with the subscribers being entitled to more than just preferential pricing (as in PC+) but also preferential customer support, tutorials and perhaps even DAZ Studio functionality which might come with future developments. I can imagine this causing a good deal of rancour between the two groups.

  • It was sent out purely to get some feedback from both members and non-members.. since it's been a while since we last surveyed customers and I wanted to get a feel of the current user base.

So no, the sky isn't falling, prices aren't going to be rising.. thanks everyone who's taken the time to respond and hopefully we can get the kinks mentioned above sorted out.

    Cheers!

I'm another one that it took four times hitting done to be done. The question that was most worrisome to me was "What would make you NOT want to buy a membership".

In my case they sent me back to pick more than one thing to one question and have to put a space behind my previous answers to get them accepted.

Did I get a different survey? (I only 7 had  to rank - I went with 'from most to least' as meaning '1-7').

One that worried me from the 'how important is....to you?' question was 'exclusive content for members' - er no Daz, that wouldn't go down well at all. I ranked it below special avatar badges laugh
