The instructios say

HOW TO DOWNLOAD DAZ STUDIO 4.12:

1. OPEN DAZ INSTALL MANAGER (DIM)

2. LOCATE "DAZ STUDIO 4.12" UNDER PRODUCT UPDATES AND CLICK DOWNLOAD.

Once signed in to DIM, the available downloads (main page) has two sections the top one is product updates and the bottom one is products

You probably need to refresh DIM, or even restart DIM (which is what I had to do).

  • Isn there a *difference* between the 4.12 and the 4.12 *beta*?

The files are the exact same size--

And even though I always try to export my Daz Studio settings and such, I ALWAYS have to spend a ton of time re setting Studio up the way I had it.

And no matter how much I match the settings of the previos "where's my stuff" directory pointing, there is always tons of stuff I have to maually reinstall.

The beta and the release should now be the same, but they are separate isntalls - so you can use the beta for now if you want to keep 4.11 General Release for now and get the same results (though settings will be separate)

You must have something else going on.  I never have any of these problems when I update release versions. It is a seamless transition.

Same here ... watched the expected time to completion GROWING and it didn't get past 0% so ... maybe in a few hours would be a better time ;-)

Good to know.  Since the beta won't be updated, is there a way to keep our 4.11 and have a production 4.12 installation?

The servers must be overloaded, because my download speeds are less than 100 kbp/sec. I thought Cloudflare used CDN technology with multiple servers across the country? Or is that only for caching images and text, and not downloads?

  • ... new release and Company has customers across the world ;-)

  • Yep, I'm getting 2 and 3 hour download time predictions.  Have cancelled downloads.  Will come back and try again later.  Can get get the freebie female without having downloaded 4.12 yet?

Mine zips along reasonably well to 99% and then drops to 0kb/s - tried it twice from different links (public one and the one from My Products library - probably the same link at the end).

Good to know it's not just me having problems lol

Was Studio 4.11 so bad that people were in that much of a hurry to dump it?

No, but the new one apparently has render speed improvements (as well as the new face transfer thing to try out, but that's neither here nor there for me as the free version is limited to 3 saves).

  • Finally got it to download - it told me it was installing 4.11 (lol) and the shortcut it created on the desktop said 4.11 ... but the splash screen said 4.12 and it has the new face-transfer thing (though I only had a quick go and got rubbish results). So yay, it worked.

Move your 4.11 files to a folder with a different name, so they won't be overwritten by the 4.12 install.
Just make certain that you move all the files.
I have 4.9.2.70, 4.10, 4.11 and 4.12 installed, each in a seperate folder on my "K" drive, with shortcuts for each on my desktop.
    Although I'll probably delete 4.11 and 4.10.
I also have copies of everything from 4.5 up on a dedicated USB drive, just in case.

The inability to save favorited properties was enough for me.
