World Map Creator Programs...?

Hey all!

So I just got into spatial scenes in DAZ/Blender, and I was wondering if there are any World Map Creator program out there?  I honestly don't know what to search for, and the searches I have done just give me "how to" guides.  I've tried a few, and it's a very fine art in creating world maps (height maps, layering, etc) just don't have the talent/patience to do them.  I'm looking for real world style (not fantasy) program that has the ability ot generate random contients, rivers, oceans, mountain range, etc.  Hopefully, I'm not asking for the moon (pun intended?).

Thanks for any suggestions you guys offer!

Good, that you have such expectations for Daz Studio. So far there is not such thing, I am aware of.

    Please take a look at:

    https://www.daz3d.com/terradome-3-iray

    https://www.daz3d.com/ultrascatterpro

Also Carrara and Bryce available in Daz shop here, has such possibilities.

    https://www.daz3d.com/bryce-7-pro

Please note, that Bryce is a 32-bit program.

INFINITO also might work for what you are looking for as it is a plug-in for DS that creates terrains:

As noted above Bryce and Carrara can both do this, including adding plants and skies.

If you are looking for a full world, I use Fractal Terrains from ProFantasy and it generates pretty good random world maps although they don't take into account some real world things like winds and tides. With a little work you could probably get both semi-realistic color and something you could use as a displacement map in Blender out of it by customizing the colors, but it would take some trial and error.

Googling for "random 3d terrain map generator" I found a Photoshop plugin called 3D Map Generator" that looks like it might do what you want in combination with Blender/Bryce/Carrara, but I didn't dig too deep and don't have the plugin myself so I can't promise anything.

Other World Mapper is the one I've been using lately and there's even a tutorial for it in the store-- How to Create Fantasy Maps (this is a great tutorial).

It doesn't generate world's for you though. There's also Fractal Mapper which does indeed generate a world for you. You can also get the Fractal World Explorer with it as a free addon. I tend to generate worlds in Mapper, then use the base image as a background in Other World Mapper to create a map over it.

Edit: The tutorial is fantasy, but the programs can be used for various genres.

The big issue you run into is textures. I’ve used s bunch of methods to generate terrain, then struggle with issues with close to long shots.

Might be a bit of overkill, but at least take a look at World Creator: https://www.world-creator.com

I have just read again, what the question is and it is apparently real world style (not fantasy) program, that has ability to generate random continents, rivers, oceans...

How real it should be, that is the question.

The most real assets come from the photogrammetry, but I have not seen any program that could generate that (yet).

Are you looking for programs generating worlds at the planetary level?

If so, I have just rendered in Daz Studio iray, kind of the moon together with https://www.daz3d.com/arachnid-class-transport

I know, that you are not asking for the moon, but just in case, if you change your mind...

I created the moon in Grand Designer (from Steam) and exported it from there as .OBJ

In Daz Studio I have imported it and assigned 8K maps generated by Grand Designer.

    Rendered in Daz Studio iray.

Thank you everyone for the rapid replies!

Looking over all the suggestions, Fractal Terrain 3 is definately what I'm looking for.  A program that can quickly generate a flat world map that I can slap on a spherical object.  Add an atmosphere, clouds, etc and good to go for a render!  I bought the program, and it's gonna take some fiddling around with to get what I'm looking for, but it's a great starting point.

Below is what I quickly generated from FT3 and next to it is what I want I'm hoping to make (image source: https://www.daz3d.com/blue-planet-orbital-view).  Of course I have to add bump maps, height maps, atmosphere, clouds, etc.

    Thank you @Artini, @Chatjd, @ARTOFMARK3D, @ChangelingChick, @Oso3D, and @Doc Acme!

If you are exporting static obj etc something like Epic Games free for now Twinmotion is also quite good for quick terrains and lots of content including animated 3D people, cars and animals, I have plonked many bits of DAZ architecture into it and quickly built up a scene.

My first two spatial pictures using Blender and Fractal Terrain 3.  Fractal Terrain did EXACTLY what I wanted it to.  Click of a button, created a world map, edited it some, and popped in into Blender...bang!

Thanks to everyone for helping make these pictures possible!  Been wanting to do something like this for a long time.

You have much too nonchalant an attitude for what you just posted :) That is absolutely beautiful!
