    Good stuff Bob!

    Merry Christmas everyone!

This will be the time of year when we find out just how little our families know about 3D art. Some of us may get boxes of washing powder and they'll say "Well you wanted something from Daz!"

    Happy holidays!!

...yep, over where you are, I wouldn't doubt it.

"...'what, all he wanted was some laundry powder? That's an odd prezzie."

Leela just loves the prezzie she got (been waiting almost five years for a pair of overalls).

    Anyway, Happy Christmas to all.

I looked again at Bjorn to see what I’d changed, and it was the specular glossiness levels and not the strength levels. Still, I like the effect anyway, also Bjorn had white set as the specular 2 colour.

Turn the Specular Glossiness up to 50% and the Specular 2 Glossiness up to 60%.

The Nevio texture, after adding Bjorn's specular colour (225 237 255) looks better now. He looked so dull and orange before.

    Have fun!!

The third render with the kid reminds me of some HDRI photos with stark contrasts between the light and shadows. Cool.

My typical image: ugly shadows and wrong lighting model. lol. I'll go fix it after I eat lunch.

I'm actually tempted render the scene in Luxrender.

I decided to take a punt on the 'new' FW Koichi. Initially I wasn't that impressed, they say it's 'new' but apart from the fact it uses M6 I'm not really sure what is. It says it comes with SSS mats, but, they use UberSurface and not the AoA shader. As standard they don't look good with the AAL, but, with the settings tweaked to match the Dave texture it doesn't look too bad. I think it's one of those I'll file for when I'm feeling experimental...

I was finally able to get the M6 Nevio texture all balanced out. I set the diffuse colour to 221 221 221 and raised the light intensity of the AAL to 100%

I did the same to the V6 texture and I think they both look good now.

I decided to put Nevio into the Xurge 3D HEV Suit, and this time I used 'none' when I did the autofit so the geometry didn't get messed up.

Looks pretty good to me! Now I need a cool scene to put him in!

    CHEERS!

PS (If, like me, you have a laptop with 2 graphics cards, have DS and your browser set to use the same one, that way your renders look like they did when 3Delight did them. I didn't do that and was wondering why some of my renders didn't look like they should have. Windows Photo Viewer doesn't have an .exe, so I can't tell it which one to use!)

I have two video cards but only one monitor. I disabled the ATI Radeon X200 because I don't use it.

Bobvan gave me the idea for this scene. Genesis Lana skin is so much better than Victoria 4's default skin. I rendered this scene in 3Delight with a low shader rate. Lana is wearing black nail polish on her toes.

I would have added some props but Daz Studio was already using 880 MB for this little scene.

I'd be checking the specs of that Radeon card, if it has better specs than the one you're using, I'd enable it and use it for DS. My system has switchable graphics. I use the integrated Intel for Windows and the Radeon for all the graphics stuff and video. It all works fine for me.

Here's one I had fun with,

I love it when a render comes together just the way you planned it. Goya Hair and Royal Punk were made for each other.

    Nice,

I've been getting a little busy. Since I learned about the Map Transfer tool in DS, I had to give it a go. What it does is allow you to transfer textures meant for one UV to another one. A better explanation of what to do is found in these two:

    http://sickleyield.deviantart.com/journal/Tutorial-The-Map-Transfer-Utility-368686796

    http://kaos3d.deviantart.com/journal/Daz-Studio-4-Map-Transfer-Mini-Tutorial-303888794

I used it to transfer the D5 texture to the M5 UV, I used M5 as it had the same material groups as D5. Once done I thought the textures looked a little dark, so I loaded them in Photoshop and did apply image on them, set to 'Screen' 100%.

I now have a D5 texture that I can use on M6. I loaded the M5 Elite Dave texture first so I had the right shader and applied the D5 textures instead of the Dave ones.

The result is the rather handsome chap below

Cute render. Thanks for sharing. I noticed that the girl has pigtails. I see lots of toys on the ground too.
