In Windows 10 1903, the latest building, the Snipping tool is still there, but under the S on the start menu, they have added "Snip & Sketch". So you can use either at the present time. And if you use Firefox, they have their own "Take a Snapshot", when you right click on an image. I find it quite nice, when there doesn't seem to be any other way to save an image.

okay, so, if i add picture with a link to, then i can right click save link as, it lets me save as jpg. pita but it works.
You can prevent Firefox from automatically installing updates. Options -> General -> Allow Firefox to... then select the "Check for updates but let you choose to install them"
And to get .jpgs by default, try these FIrefox settings that I have been using for months.

As I've already said, converting back to JPG does not undo the quality loss of having converted to WebP in the first place. In fact, it almost certainly makes it worse.

I found a solution that works best for me. It is for an old Safari download. It's not as secure as Google Chrome but if you only use it here you will be fine.

I've been using those settings for months as well, and never even think about it any more.
Now if we could convince DAZ to give us the option to make downloading promo images to a file on our computer automatic, that would be nice.
Something like, "Download promo images, yes/no?
Wait... Did it make sense before it was edited? Why was it edited? I mean - I know you can't tell me what was edited out, verbatim, for obvious reasons (though why it was removed may not be as obvious - I once had a post censored because it used a word that was in the actual product name on the DAZ marketplace. You can name a product that, but you can't talk about that product because... bad word, or something? I don't even know. Anyway - Not my circus, not my monkeys. I don't make the rules.) but a non-censor-rousing restatement of the issue in more detail?
I'm asking, though, because while I can get a vague sense of what the original post was, it's very... Not really. And I download those reference images for the same reason - otherwise, I have to do a product search when I need fo find something, and that can be hit and miss for accessories... And it doesn't help at all with inspiration, only solution. Flipping through the library is like looking at a box of paint tubes... "Ooh... Aren't you a lovely shade of green! I bet you want to be a nice fern frond..." or something, but with... Hats. Or vehicles. Or whatever.
When I go to download images on the products linked, I get jpgs - though they do have a 8BIM Mac header, I can still drop them into, or open them in Photoshop...

Edits like this are usually because the first sentence wasn't there, it was in the title of the thread only. One of the forum rules (guidelines?) is that the statement or question should be in the body of the post, not just the thread title. Often the moderator making the edit will say that is why it was edited and a reminder to please have the question in the body of the post, but since the first line is in blue and matches the thread title exactly, I am guessing that is what happened here.

I asked them if I could sell an app in their store which downloads product data and promo pictures automatically, they said they'd take a look at it but I've never heard from them since. I imagine there may be a copyright problem - it's fully legal to download pictures from anywhere for personal use, but it's not legal to offer the same pictures for download if you don't own them yourself (I assume the vendors own the copyright for their promos). If the users downloads them on their own, which DAZ can't prevent, DAZ is not legally involved.

the trick here is to right click save LINK as, not the save image as

When an image is being offered as a .webp, on the saving box change the type to "all files" and after the name of image, put .png instead of the .webp -- so far that works for me.
