Non-complaint: Wheee..., the temperature at 11:15 this morning is 66F and predicted to get into the 70s.
It's Tuesday, my early week uptown micro-adventure day. Budget is tight again this month (auction fever), so lunch today will be two kraut dogs at the TexasHot place, or a Wendy's chile and a free chocolate mini-frosty(I've got a keytag coupon for a free mini-frosty all year long.
) Or possibly if I feel a bit more adventurous I could drive to the other side of the city and get something from TacoBell or KFC.
Complaint: Our TacoBell and KFC is a combined restaurant and the menu board above the servers is impossible to read.
It spans the entire width of the store and doesn't repeat. I don't go there often so I haven't memorized the menu. The writing is small and unreadable from more than 3 feet away. The pictures all look alike, (red, brown, and off-white globs of stuff in a basket) and the names of things have no meaning for me, I can't remember the difference between a taco and a burrito.
Nor can I remember the proper name of KFC's standard chicken coating (vs whatever the alternative coating is) and they always have to correct me when I call it the name used at Popeye's Chicken sites. I guess It's like ordering a "BigMac" at BurgerKing or a "Whopper" at McDonalds.
Can't they just interpolate what I mean? And do they really have to correct me when I order Coke and they only serve Pepsi or vice-versa? Heck, I can't remember their menu and it's impossible to read so what's a guy to do? (*sigh*)
At least at the TexasHot place I know what I'm getting when I order a krautdog, unless I think about the contents of the "dog". Ewwwww!
Only 52F here, at almost noon! Complaint.

Don’t try that with your piranhas (Wait, you don’t have any, do you?)... the results might be vastly different. Actually piranhas aren’t as vicious as they are perceived to be... they are just misunderstood tetras with bad dental work... but still I wouldn’t fill a bathtub with them and try and take a relaxing soak... but there are a couple of people in this world I’d love to convince to try it.
Snake heads on the other hand will remove some fingers if you give them a chance.
Non-complaint: Micro-adventure was uneventful. No fires today. Solved the lunch dilemma. Decided to go to the cheap Chinese buffet on this side of the city instead of going all the way to the mall for KFC/TacoBell. After lunch, the radio in the car was playing a piano concerto. I couldn't figure out what it was but I knew that I recognized it as by one of the big ones, Beethoven, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff or Dvorak. But while listening to what was the apparently the 1st movement I could swear that it reminded me of Star Wars themes.
What was surprising was that it had four movements instead of the traditional three for a concerto. I finished my trip by stopping at my grocery store for milk & bread and missed the post announcement of what had just played, so I had to look it up on the station's website. It was the Brahms 2nd Piano Concerto, which indeed does have 4 movements (Hmmm, 55 years of hearing that I and I never realized that it was one of the exceptions.
) Although, it is not one of my favorites. The first movement is interesting but I don't get excited about the rest of it.
See if you hear any Star Wars themes in the 1st movement of it (about half-way through the 1st movement. Try 8:50), :
Johannes Brahms: Piano Concerto #2 (1st movement): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40NsFKuskH0
2nd movement: 18:14
3rd movement: 27:51
4th movement: 38:47
Complainttt they put powder cheese on my stuffed shells. Yuckie taste in my mouth. Why di they do thst? Let the customer add that yuck if they want it. Already sent the salad back they put pepper powder on it. I feel they giving me food meant for someone who didnt show up to pick it up

You're lucky that it got resolved so easily.
I check all my on-line money accounts daily just in case. If they don't match both my checkbook and my spreadsheet then I panic and drop everything to find the discrepancy. The easiest place to make an error is with the charges that have not yet been posted to my bank but are (hopefully) in my bankbook and/or spreadsheet. I can't afford an overdraft!
...
I got a surprise for everyone in my home. I hope they like it. Not sure what to do if they do not want it.
My order of fish food came in. I expected what was in the promo photos but got this instead. It was about six dollars and is not returnable. Fish seem to like it which is a plus.
edit: the fish food was not the surprise, as that was cookies. The fish food is for the fish.
So Cornucopia3D's still kinda down, and E-On's changed their product model - it's a subscription service now (And $20 a month isn't all that bad for the base Vue to be honest)
Since a single-purchase of xStream's no longer an option, unless by some chance there's like a 3rd-party distributer or something that still carries one, the only way I'd get the integration plugin is with the $75 a month option. Which while within my budget, is a bit much for a program I'm honestly probably not going to use all that often. I mean like, I barely 3D at all and I go months and months (sometimes a year) between even OPENING the programs. I've done diddly with zBrush for instance.
One of the problems that stumbles me to be honest are actually fairly simple ones. In zBrush I mean. There's some "How would I go about X / recommended way to go about X?" questions where I find several tutorials or books and whatnot going about it different ways ((One book sculpts the creature with its head closed then makes a masking slice to open it, another just does it open to begin with)) but the questions? One of the killers for me really is the camera. I got navigation controls down, but the camera always wants to orbit around the center of the whole scene, which makes it horrendeously difficult to focus on a certain area of the scene that's NOT near the center. I asked about this on the zBrush forums and kinda-sorta got an answer but it didn't seem to do anything. Maybe I phrased my question poorly, or maybe they misunderstood it...
I don't feel I'm cut out for 3Ds to be honest. Have the attention span of a seven year old and that's no good when it comes to needing the dedication (that I lack) to approach 3D at any level beyond "Take model, insert and pose, hit render". Which is fun and all but even there I'm kinda limited with what I can do - particularly nowadays where more and more of the cool stuff is locked behind the DUFF format *shrugs* When it comes to clothes and whatnot I could always just pick up old stuff where available, nothing wrong with that.
Cinema 4D's latest release changed the material type to Node-based. I don't know much about that other than people usually speak very highly of it. Not really in a position to be looking at acquiring new software (That will probably just gather dust anyway aagh) but even if I did I'm not sure how that'd affect some of my other things... Vray might require being upgraded as well (I'm on C4D v13. Cinema's on v20 now.) and my Poser/DAZ plugin would almost certainly not work in the latest version of Cinema. Meaning IF - and that's one heck of an IF - I ever do get the latest version I'll either need to re-rig (everything....) myself or find some way to bounce them back and forth. Likely as static objects or something ike I used to do with Vue. Not keen on that, but all this is hypothetical talk anyway.
...ah, apparently nobody cares.
Fine.
So much for the sense of "community".
I'll just stick to the technical and sales thread if I don't end up out on the street.
Bye.
Huh? I missed something. I hope you do not end up on the street.
It’s usually the last one... The folks here at DAZ tend to not do it as much as in other places (actually they hardly ever do it), but trying to get help or understand a method of doing stuff sometimes can be one of the most frustrating things... there are a few other sites I visit and when I ask a question, more often than not when I read the answer my first thought is something along the lines of “did you read the question or is that just a random thought?”
It’s almost like asking someone how to get to the library and they answer “Denmark is very lovely this time of year, but Theodore Roosevelt grew up in Oyster Bay New York... I like bus rides.”... Yeeees... thank you... I do appreciate the help and sharing but sometimes it’s sooooo frustrating.
Sometimes it’s language barriers, especially in very international forums, but other times it’s really just skimming the OP... I can tell you how many times I tried following instructions that were for something entirely different than what I asked... I’d feel like such an imbecile... is it my computer... am I not understanding something?... I give up an d move on to something else and then a month later I accidentally come across the information somewhere else... Gah! It’s really annoying because I’m stubborn and stupidly persistent and will waste large amounts of time trying to figure something out...
Just looking stuff up is annoying too... it’s like all search engines are infected by whatever friggin’ algorithm disease infects Netflix suggestion engine... “Because you watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre: My Little Pony, Cosmos, Iron Chef... “ WTF...?
You’ll look up the simplest most straight forward question and Google will just ignore it completely and make all sorts of stupid suggestions.
And wading though video tutorials is excruciating too... choose that and if you are lucky, the minimum time to figure something out is a half an hour... if you are lucky... or half an hour to figure out the video you are watching has nothing to do with what you need to know and now it’s back to sorting through dozens of fuzzy videos featuring dizzying mouse movements and mumbly narration...
I love when I find a written tutorial... you can skim to the part you need to understand or see if it’s actually what you need, in a few seconds.
They hardly exist anymore, or are mostly for hopelessly outdated versions of the software, but books are really the best way to learn... well with the exception of “The Bryce 3D Handbook, by R. Shamms Mortier”... I bought that book like twenty years ago to learn Bryce and thought I had a stroke reading it... the author alternates between being lucid and instructive and incoherently tripping out... Whatever you do don’t read that book, it’ll eff you up for the rest of your life... it’s like a glossy paperback version of the Necronomicon.
Don’t feel you aren’t cut out for 3D... it’s a pain sometimes and it’s frustrating, but it is satisfying when it comes together... sometimes the trick is stepping back from it for a while... I stopped modeling stuff for almost a year and a half, things seemed clearer after the break... or maybe I glanced at that Bryce book and it took that long for the effects to wear off... Megh...
happy admin day!
complaint - SDS inventory time.

It seems KyotoKid is experiencing government beaurocracy again, and is in danger of losing everything. Was falling asleep last night, passed by everything. A real complaint, and it seems nobody else even noticed. If you're watching, sorry KK. If you're watching, KK, I hope your lawyer can get some kind of hold on the apartment, or you experience some empathy from the owners, or something. It might be a mistake. They make them a lot.It is the government, after all.

Yeah, it's the sort of "Simple thing that still trips me up big time" that I wish I could have someone there present to point out what I'm doing wrong haha, alas I don't believe I'll ever be that lucky~ The local college (The only one within a few hours of driving) doesn't offer anything in the way of computer graphics like this. They offer "something" related to the topic but they don't clarify what it is - just graphics. Is it Maya, 3DSMax, Lightwave.... Adobe Illustrator? Photoshop? Next semester I might just call 'em up and ask, but I kinda doubt it'd be brush related. They don't offer the language I'm after either; just the "usuals" - Spanish, French, and German (And uh, English of course. For those who are interested.)
Meanwhile most of my friends.... >_>
I did manage to make a relatively decent'ish dinosaur (Two actually) early on and in jus a few days, all well and good but stumbling blocks left me stumbled and I never finished either of them. Coming back to the programs is so difficult, I get distracted way too easily hnn and the longer I'm away the harder it is to come back. Been thinking about renewing a Pluralsight membership. I can't really follow alogn with most of their C4D stuff since I'm hopelessly out of date there, and they hardly have anything in the way of Vue (surprising, really) but their zBrush courses are generally top notch; especially the fairly lengthy Introduction one. Explains quite well, especially pointing out some of the more common issues people have (Like accidentally converting your working space into a 2.5D one and how to get it back to the sculpting) If they still have a community forum up (Back when Digital Tutors was still a thing, they had one) I might try asking there too.
Noticed or didn't have anything to offer. I saw a few of the posts but not the newer ones, because the way the forum was loading stuff. By the time my posts went through she had already deleted them. So I only caught a glimpse at the general overall situation, and very much not anything I can offer any help or even advice with, other than just the barely helpful "I hope things work out alright" :<
I would offer support but I do not have much. I am thinking of getting a new watch. I had a Baby G watch but someone being over helpful threw that out for me. I am looking at a watch to get on May 1rst or 2nd. I was given a check recently and I could have paid twenty some dollars to get the check cashed right away to my paypal balance or I could wait till May 1rst or 2nd to get the funds for free.
Even if I decide to give that money to KK, I doubt it will help much in the long run. It might but it might not. I do not remember much of the story. I am so confused.
I also need to pay my phone bill. I am thinking of switching my phone from Android to iOS. Android has a problem feature where I can put google payments onto the bill which is not good. iOS does not have that feature and since I am leasing my phone I do not think it will cost me extra but in the long run it will cost me less because I will not be stuck with impulsive google play orders I thought I needed but actually do not. I still do not understand why I got the Hobbit trilogy but never watched it.
He. Despite the girl avatar, KK is a he.
Dana
The phone will not help you. The apple store will have just as much to distract your eyes and tempt you. And apple, in general, is more costly. I actually can't stand apple products. But that doesn't matter. If you want to move out of that place, I advise that you just concentrate on saving money. Every time you switch things you end up paying a price, it may not be up front, but it will get you. I don't play games on my phone, I don't get all the latest and greatest apps, I just use what it has...unless there's something that's free and useful, and doesn't have tons of ads in it. Just my two cents...not that it's worth much these days.
Dana
KK, a lot of people probably didn't comment becuase they never saw it. Based on the time stamps you posted and edited it during the period I was asleep.
There's several people (not on this thread though) I frequently make that mistake with xD
I keep having to remind myself "He, not She"
Medical website is down. Did someone forget to pay the web host provider?
M e h. Several cool things on the store and I check the "What's Included" list and it's like "DUF only! So it's utterly worthless to you! Isn't that great?" :V
Last time I tried just loading it in D|S to export out, every conceivable variation I could have exported it as just resulted in either a broken jumble of a mess, imploded geometry, a disasterously mangled rig, or all three of the above. Is it really such a terrible thing to provide stuff in cr2 also? Or why not provide a converter/exporter, even if it's a commercial one.
I find D|S to be confusing and clunky to use, so even posing the DUF-only models I do have then exporting as a static object for rendering in Cinema was a chore. Which meant re-adjusting things whenever something was out of place. Not a workflow I enjoy really, and one I had to make do with when I used Vue back in the day. I can do minor adjustments to things with Cinema's tools, and worst-case I can whip up a very quick joint system or whatnot to fix something, but I'd still prefer being able to use it natively ya know?
Re-rigging's always an option too, though it takes forever and I have very little experience with it ("Fix one thing, break seven others" tends to be my actual experience.) and I lost out on Morphs and stuff. Far as I know, Cinema 4D doesn't support that kind of thing outside of the Studio edition and even then Poser's is just smoother. I don't know if it's possible to recreate the effect outside of that. Maybe with Correction Deformers (and a lot of them, in some cases)?
I thought there was a Gryphon 2, maybe I was thinking of the Eagle 2 and/or the Raw Gryphons texture pack...
Got one of the critters anyway, figured I'd go the C4D-to-Vue route and just deal with having to bounce between two applications. Not ideal, but the alternative is missing out on the figures entirely *shrugs*
Would be cool to make my own characters too, but I don't see that happening ever.
Gah... accidentally posted...
