I hate it when I try to get comfy to write or do something on my tablet and then I could not get comfy.  No matter what I do to try to get comfy I cannot get comfy.

If it wasn't for the fact that in addition to the possibility of free or free 2-day delivery of items, I also get access to Amazon's video streaming service along with my "Prime" membership,  I'd go back to bundling my purchases to reach the magic dollar amount to qualify for free shipping.  But that was a pain and I tended to buy things I didn't really need, just to get to the magic number. frown

Buying things at on-line auctions makes me appreciate Amazon's (and NewEgg's, and others) free shipping options because the raw cost of shipping things that are not a standard sized flat letter just sucks royal swamp water. angry  (eg: that 20 ct Aquamarine crystal the size of my little finger tip that I got at auction for $10 a couple days ago cost $15 to ship.) frown

...yeah I would run into that on eBay as well.  once found a replacement for a hard to find coffee cup I occidentally broke.  The cost for the cup was 4.50$, not bad, but the shipping cost (and it was in the US) was 12$. Better off checking garage sales and second hand shops.

As I am not much into television/streaming video anymore nor "preprogrammed" music selections, their other offerings are relatively useless to me.

Is there such a thing as bandaids that actually stick anymore? I don’t even know why I bother, they fall off in a few minutes anyway...

I have all sorts of bandaids, a whole drawer full... the worst are the “Athletic/Sports” and the “Waterproof”... it’s not actually the bandaid itself, but the crappy adhesive... there literally is no point to a waterproof bandaid or super tough sports bandaid if the adhesive gives out or doesn’t stick to skin.

One package has a diagram calling out the features of the product, pointing to the breathable material, it’s super strong construction and how impervious it is to dirt... but neglects to mention Post-It adhesive is stronger.

I’ve taken to cutting out the pad and using black duct tape in place of the stupid tape part with it’s fake adhesive.

...I notice that too, definitely rant worthy.

Hydrocoloid. Bandaid and Walgreens and several other brands make them. Finding someone who carries them can be a pain.

Sleepy sleepy.  Can't go to bed until 8:30am though (night shift stuff).  By the time I get off though I'll be too wide awake for sleep, just like every other day for the past week.  Hnnn.

Maybe I should move away from the industrial area and interstate highway.  Something is making too much noise at night.  I had a comment about the spring sale on the Daz store but I forgot what it was.

I used to complain about the noise until I moved away from the Interstate highway and realized it was too damn quiet to sleep. frown  If there's no ambient noise around me when I'm trying to sleep I hear that incessant high pitched ringing in my ears and the more I try to ignore it, the louder it gets.  That's why my radio or my room fan runs all night.  Something to mask the tinnitus.  It was clearly a case of me doing too much listening! surprise

How can there be a photograph of a black hole?  Light doesn't escape it, photographs are images made of light.  We can see the area around it, and see stars and other stuff being sucked into it, but not the black hole itself.  This sounds like a case of that famous mafia guy's vault...nothing was there.  Unless it's a false color image showing the radiation.

OK, looks like I was right...it will be a photograph of what's around the black hole.  Still, with an Earth-sized telecsope, should they be looking at things that we can see, to see them close up?  Should be interesting, though.  But, if we can see the black hole, maybe they should aim those things at Mars to get a really good look.  Or further out.

Correct that the black hole itself cannot be seen, but the gas and particles around the black hole radiate in radio wavelengths and with the giant radio telescope (effective size of the earth) enough resolution is possible to produce an image of the in-swirling and outgoing jets of particles around the black hole.  In fact the scientists predict that the radio emissions are powerful and penetrating enough that they will be able to image very close to the event horizon.  The resulting image and the shape of the radio-less "shadow" in the center will give them clues to the mathematics and actual rather than theoretical behavior of electric and magnetic fields, and shape of spacetime around the object.  It is yet another test of Einstein's theory of gravity.  Either he's right and the image will be what they expect, or he's wrong and the shape indicates further subtleties in the behavior of gravity in such distorted spacetime arenas.  Apparently they already have an idea of what the result is but are making a big show and reveal of it on Wednesday (9:00AM EDT) to make the announcement from many of the observatories around the Earth that participated in the observations.  This is as big a deal as the first proof of Einstein's theory of light bending around a star 100 years ago.  The show is probably similar to the announcement of finding the Higgs Boson a few years ago.  They knew the answer well ahead of time but got all their ducks in a row and had a big party for themselves and for public consumption.

Well, if they point it at Mars they probably won't see much unless they want to get an image of the network of WiFi transmitters that the Martians use in their homes.surprise  Mars doesn't otherwise transmit much information in the radio frequencies.indecision  However, to verify their technology, this same telescope was used to look at the center of another galaxy to see if they see the same type of radio transmissions from its blackhole (although much more distant) and I believe those results will be presented Wednesday too.cool

However, they might find some benefit for looking at Jupiter to see it's radio emissions but they already have a pretty good idea of what's going on there because they've had satellites orbiting Jupiter for years measuring various frequencies of radio and light and xrays coming from there.

Well, yes, radio frequencies are out for Mars.  Howver, they must have optical telescopes at those locations.  If they can make a huge radio telescope, why not an optical one?  Even better would be two space telescopes in orbit on either side of the Earth!  That would be great, considering all the fantastic images we've gotten from the Hubble!
