Yes... This particular thread is dedicated to complaining about non DAZ stuff... like that squirrel who I know stole my car keys... and breakfast cereals that don’t stay crunchy in milk or beer like they should.

The purpose of this thread was to allow people to complain about things in a format that would eliminate the need to go to the local park or stand on a front lawn and shout about underwear that pinch or how all pudding these days seems to be fat free... I want my damn fat!

Sorry... I seem to have inadvertently thrown in a complaint there.

Feel free to complain about stuff here... we are lots of fun and really great at complaining... but remember to keep the complaining within TOS and TSA guidelines.

    Well... good luck.

I'm frustrated that people can post a bunch of photo's in one dump (I see someone had called this shovelware or something like that) .  For example I see 16 images just shoveled up to the gallery just ten minutes ago by one artist.  Last night the same person did 59 images in about two minutes time!  I believe if there was a limit of say one per hour or X amount per day would be fair so that everyone gets a chance to be on the first page.  It's like internet search results where anything on page 2 is barely seen and anything on page 3, or on, is dead.  Needles to say that 59 image in a couple of minutes dooms everything to page 2 and 3 in a blink of an eye.  This limit would force people to be more selective in what is uploaded AND put more work into ONE image rather than a minimal amount of work into ten images.

One of the reasons I don't post much to galleries these days, same happens at rendo.

Why do my parents want me to reschedule the doctor's appointment?  The snow is melting and the roads are clear.  I haven't eaten lunch eather.  I was on hold for 20 minutes.  There is an issue with my chart. The receptionist needs to cal me after doing some administrative things before she can change the date of my appointment.

Hmmm..., "shovelware", good word. yes  I notice it on a couple of forums (not DAZ or even 3D related) that I visit where people like to show off photos that they've taken or find interesting.  That's great.  It's nice to see what people can create or  think is interesting.  A few pictures a day is OK.  But when some persistent abusers find an interesting site and copy the complete catalog or a sub-catalog from that site onto another site it infuriates me.  What are they thinking?  It doesn't take quantity to tell a story or point out concepts.  A few samples is enough, then just point us to the original site to see the others IF WE'RE INTERESTED.  It's blatant plagerism and it's unfair to the new site because it massively increases their hosting charges.  I swear if I was the owner of one of the sites that got dumped upon I'd ban the offender faster than you can say "leach".

    ----------

And "yes" this thread is for those of us who have a physical need to kvetch about something daily.  So far, this thread and it's numerous past incarnations has kept us under control by providing this outlet and keeping us, for the most part, out of other more dedicated DAZ forum threads.  We have fun here, it's theraputic, and we've become sort of a safely distant dis-functional family. devil

    Yeti...

The snow is melting and the roads are clear... This is exactly when the Yeti come out... your parents are probably concerned you’ll be accosted by a Yeti... or worse yet pick up a hitchhiking Yeti...

Never pick up a hitchhiking Yeti... First it’s “Can you take me to Main Street”... then they ease in a small request of “Would you mind going through the drive-tru at Starbucks”... then it’s “Oops, I forget my wallet, it must be in my other pants (you ain’t wearing any pants, liar)”...then it’s like “Would you mind swinging by my brother’s house, he was holding some of my stuff since my girlfriend kicked me out and now his roommates want him to move it out”... then before you know it, you have a big smelly Yeti crashing on your sofa and he doesn’t contribute to the grocery bills or electric and he’s always using the phone and dropping wet towels on the bathroom floor, which is weird because it’s pretty obvious he doesn’t shower...

So yeah... it could be Yeti.

Turns out my dad got confused about the dates of my doctor's appointment.  I wrote the dates on the calendar.  I guess he doesn't look at the calendar.

Watched the Arnold Schwartznegger Conan movie ("Conan the Barbarian") where they played the "Oh Fortuna" piece from Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana" opera (scenic contata).  Such a momentous, throbbing, fearful, awe inspiring, wonderous piece it is.  Although it's been used in so many movies now that its lost some of its shock value.

Here's the music and both the Latin and English lyrics.  Carl Orff: "Oh Fortuna" from "Carmina Burana":  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nG-fya3vutQ

...I flew a sport kite performance to it at a kite festival. got a lot of "wow"s from the audience.

Back in the mid 80s when I was much more ignorant of classical music I went into the biggest record shop in downtown Washington DC (remember record shops?), into the big room at the back where they had all the classical records and asked the classical records department steward to help me.  "What is it you're looking for?" he asked.  Unable to remember the title I said it was in one of the "Conan" movies (there were only two at the time).  He replied that he wasn't familiar with the movies. sad Then, for some unknown and probably mystical reason I blurted out "The title sounds like Anna Karenina" (the novel by Leo Tolstoy) surprise  A look of confusion crossed his face for a moment then he asked timidly "Do you mean Carmina Burana?"   "Yes" I uttered in glee, and we both laughed.  Isn't it interesting how the brain works! smiley  Apparently the cadence of both those phrases was enough to jog memories.

...ahh, record stores.  A lost treasure these days.  I remember when CDs took over.  I had just successfully won a fairly generous injury lawsuit and a couple weeks before I planned a trip with a friend the the big Tower Records store in Seattle (I was living in Olympia WA at the time).  I had compiled a list of everything to add to my library.  So afterwards, with said list in hand, we drove the 60 mile to Seattle had lunch and then headed to the store.  On walking in my hopes were suddenly dashed upon the rocks as there was nary an LP to be seen.  Everything was CDs (only about a month beforehand it was a veritable cornucopia of vinyl with a huge classical section). CD players were still very expensive, as were the discs (about twice the cost of an LP back then).  I already had an excellent full manual turntable (I ordered through a radio station supply house) and fairly decent collection of LPs.  On searching the stor (which was nearly a city block in size), we finally came across about half dozen racks of LPs, most of them popular music with a few "off brand" classical albums performed by artists/orchestras I never knew of and mostly of just the popular "warhorse" pieces.

The store's name became an oxymoron even though they remained in business for years afterwards.

After that, used record shops became my only source.

Now CDs are becoming passe' thanks to digital sources (like MP3) and cloud music services where you "rent" recordings rather than "buy".

I don't have any vinyl records or a turntable anymore. sad But I do collect classical CDs.  I have enough to have my own small classical radio station if I had a half million dollars in radio equipment, permits and a license. frown

I have a few songs in pure digital format that I downloaded from Amazon or iTunes but I continue to collect CDs because they are physical and someday somebody rummaging through an attic will find several "Bankers Boxes" packed full of CDs in their cases with all the album notes and marvel at them.  (Well, either that or laugh at them. frown

HOWEVER, despite having the CDs, I have ripped each one of them and have the digital versions in my computer so I have joined the 21st century in that respect.  I let my TV connect to my computer and share the music that way when I'm tired of YouTube and NetFlix and DVDs. enlightened  I also have some of the ripped music files in an MP3 player about the size of a large PEZ dispenser that I use when I expect to be sitting in doctor's waiting rooms, etc.

Ow... crying

...I have a reasonable collection of CDs but it still doesn't match my LP library. The early ones sounded too "clean" and "sterile" . They actually had to add algorithms to recreate that "warmer" more natural sound.  The one benefit they have is they do reproduce low frequencies very well (like the 32' bombardes of the Organ at Notre Dame in Paris or the 64' Contra Trombone of the Sydney town hall organ).

Still have my turntable still have my 1960s Hi Fi.  Have a lot of rare LPs and historic performances as well that were never reissued in CD or digital format.

I still have my LPs, but the turntable is out of service.  All the feet broke off.  I'm hoping to be able to replace it with something new from B&H Photo.  They have the high end equipment, and I want to get one that has both RCA and USB outputs, so I can rip some of my records to CDs.  There is one, Cold Blood: Sysiphus, I can't find anywhere...it seems it never made it to CD.  Damn good jazz/rock/fusion band...horns and a female singer that has a great, bluesy, voice.  I found a few of the tunes from that album on YouTube.  But I'd rather get them complete from the LP.  A lot of tunes put up on YouTube are cut short.

Apparently others can have the house food, but I cannot.  Others were offered pudding but when I reached for chocolate pudding I was told no I had to eat my own snacks not the house food.  I do not have chocolate pudding but tapioca but that is not for general snacking.  It is for specific reasons.

I doubt it.  My house has cable tv but I am not allowed to use it.  I have an antena in my room for my tv.
