Non-complaint:  Finished the first season of "Ekaterina: The Rise of Catherine The Great"  It was pretty much by the book except at the end.  They sort of rushed the part where she and her troops defeat her husband Peter's troops.  But they did a really good job of painting Peter III as immature, vindictive, unwise, traitorous, and totally unsuited for leading a vast country.  She was going to just send him away to a prison but her generals just did him in anyway.   Very satisfied with the production despite the few places things were glossed over. yes

Complaint:  The second season of the series isn't free.  sad

The first hit is always free.

Seriously, though, they did the same thing to me with The Expanse.  I watched a couple seasons (3, I think), then the new one is not free.  I'm waiting to see hwat happens with Lost In Space.  They've messed with the story a little, but it was very good.  I hope they don't want money for the second season.

Non-complaint:  Actually, I was mistaken. surpriseblush  Upon checking again, I do have free access to the second season and have watched the first episode.  The titles are now in English but the audio is still Russian.  And unfortunately the sub-titles don't seem to be as well thought out, nor stay on the screen long enough in this series.  I find myself reading smaller print, longer phrases and having to jump back 5 or 10 seconds to re-read the translations sometimes two or three times.  This second series seems to cover her early years of reform while she was still optomistic and followed the enlightenment ideas of people like Voltaire.  Later on in her reign she was less magnanimous.  Various things like peasant revolts, and wars and troubles with nobles and the church made it obvious that changing the thousand year old thinking of 20 million people covering a quarter the northern hemisphere takes more than just good ideas.  Sometimes the stick has to replace the carrot.  Same problem that Peter the Great had sixty years earlier.

The computer generated graphics in this series seems more crude than the first series.  But there seems to be a lot of photography in real palace locations.  This first episode had a short scene in "The Amber Room".  As well as some incredible staircase views.

has anyone here had their gallbladder out?

    did it help?

I didn't have mine out.. Drs recommended that I have it out.  What they may not tell you, is that once it's gone, you will have to take supplements..(enzymes) the rest of your life to digest things correctly-you will have to avoid high fat and spicy foods.  I did a cleanse and changed my diet and haven't had any more problems.

I never had enzymes recommended after I had mine out and I don't take them. I don't seem to have any particular problems although I don't usually eat a lot of high fat or really spicy foods anyway.

Complaint: I was up in Seattle for a few days, everyone kept saying " Another perfect sunny day, aren't you lucky''.

No!!! We have sunshine 364 days a year in Phoenix--was hoping for a nice big thunder and lightening show. ( exageration- we do get some rain)

The leaves however, were gorgeous, almost rivaling the New England fall colors.

cool, you fled the wettest October we've (also Pheonixian) had in ... ever... to go find rain?

I wanted to buy a slice of pizza, but at the pizza place in the mall only takes cash and I only have a few dollars on my debit card.  Two reasons not to use the ATM, not enough on card to get cash back, I think, but also saw too many crime shows about people messing with ATMs for me to trust one anymore.

also it is not ATM machine, but just ATM.  If it was not a machine, it would be a teller which is a person.

ATM stands for Automatic Teller Machine so saying ATM machine in simply redunant.

Similar to:  "Sahara" meaning "The Great Desert".  The area is "The Sahara", not "The Sahara desert" which is tantamount to saying "The great desert desert". indecision

Also, "The Sahara" refers to a vast geographical desert area of Africa, much as "The Serengeti" refers to a vast geographical grassland area of Africa. indecision

However, if one could concoct a wonderful after-meal sweet made from sand then I guess it could be called "The great desert dessert".  [groan]blush

Floaters, I get them once in a while though usually small.

Once you get a floater, is doesn't go away.  Usually, most people get used to them and don't notice them most of the time.

Or possibly Chopin's female friend/lover novelist who dressed like a male. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Sand

** What's the connection to "Soylent Green"?

Note:  The movie "Soylent Green" was set in the year 2022! surprise

Unpacking them is the hard part but be sure to put then in a vase of fresh water immediately.

I ordered a thing from Amazon weeks ago and I am still watching the tracking information.  I believe it is literally being sent via a slow boat from China. frown

Complaint:  Each year about this time I find myself less and less enthusiastic about hefting a huge pumpkin into the sink and carving out all the gunk inside and trying to come up with yet another unique "face" to carve into it, only to throw the whole damn thing away two days later. frown

This may be similar to some people's attitudes about mowing lawns.  As the Indians might say:  "Only white man would spend all summer growing and harvesting crop just to throw it away". devil

To be honest, not all of the pumpkin thing is non-enthusiastic.  I like lighting it with a candle Halloween night and setting it on my porch.  But it's the hefting, gutting and carving part that gets harder with each advancing year. sad

seems a bit pricey, but if you get several years use, quality be worth it
