I was really disappointed when I saw Kaylee. I’m looking forward to LaTonya though.
I will say this about the Feature vs PA PoC: the Features are the only ones I’ve ever seen in Daz3D advertisements on other sites. Sure, a shopper may be able to visually scan the store and find a variety of tones and features — but from the outside, Daz3D is a sea of white. I really do hope Latonya is a black teen. She can capitalize on the interest raised by the new Barbie robotics engineer.
One should note, though, that the Base 8 characters are actually much more expensive than the PA characters except when youy put them in a pro bundle, add a pile of extras discounts with the purchase of other items and then divide the contents of the bundle evenly.
Teen Josie never has looked like a real character; too stylised imo.
My thoughts on Kaylee... She's cute but doesn't really bring in anything new to the G8F gene pool other than an excuse for to sell more teen-related products. Mind you, I'll buy her, but that's mainly for the contents of her bundle and it's associated discounts/freebies. On the whole I would definitely have preferred to see Mabel on this round, but this is most likely a case of DAZ just wanting a quick cash cow after a string of more imaginative but probably lower selling bases.
I agree doesn't look like a teen, but then again, lots of teens don't look like teens - which suggests to me we should rethink what teens look like.

Well they can match ads with your own browsing history and demographic information gathered by google, bing, and other 3rd party sites. So your experience is not informative and not indicative of DAZ 3D ad buying policies but of google and other businesses trying to give the customer what they want by collating and analyzing their web surfing history. The gathering of generic demographics for other than medical reasons or legal reasons, eg, advertising adult products to children, where advertising has a legitimate impact, is suspect and misleading.
The ads I personally get have ran the whole gamut of DAZ Originals included in Pro Bundles even in genres I personally don't like, except as Halloween silliness, like vampires and such creatures. However, I can't specifically remember a case of seeing a non-DAZ Original product in an external ad though but if I did it was probably a Josh Crocket product like the Grey Alien or similar creature.
Got to agree on both counts!! To me, Kaylee is sort of a G8F version of Sunny 7 (but I kind of though that about Charlotte 8 too), which is one of my favorite characters .... with some other character DNA and morphs mixed in to give her less of a teen look. Still haven't purchased Kaylee, but I really want too (just trying to figure out if I can really afford her, no additional 20% off for me
)!
I also have to agree, I'm not sure why everyone has to complain sooo much about things they don't want to buy. I'm always glad when DAZ comes out with things I don't *really* want to buy, because then I don't have to go through hours (or days) of trying to figure out just how much I really want, and will use, the figure and/or stuff in question. I simply can't afford to buy everything I "want", or even everything I really want (probably true for many others as well). If I do get Kaylee (and it would be the pro bundle, due to all the free pro bundles that I don't own), she would only be my third G8 Pro bundle (or official G8 figure, with Victoria 8 and Girl 8 being the other two). I really wanted both Charlotte 8, and Karyssa 8, unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), they came at times when I did not have enough discretionary "hobby" money to get them. And yes, unlike so many who have already posted, I'm a HUGE fan of Thorne characters, and I've been here since 2004 (I really hope she doesn't read these threads, it wouldn't be pleasant for her at all).
Hopefully more people will post their renders using Kaylee 8, and her add on characters (please). They do really help when you are deciding to buy, or not (I do agree, some of the promos are not real flattering). I'm also guessing/hoping that with a little shader tweaking, her skin could be a bit darker?? I would also mix in another character or two (or more) and some other morphs to make her a bit older.
I really like Karyssa 8 (and Zoe for Karyssa 8). Hopefully you can manage to acquire her eventually.
I'll pick up Kaylee in the next couple of days most likely. My cart is ready to go, I'm just waiting to see how the next couple of sales will tie in. Mainly for the 'new item' requirement that is sometimes not limited to a particular sales roster.
So, unfortunately, no quick Kaylee related renders from me in the meantime, although I'm looking forward to seeing what other people come up with r.e. Kaylee renders.
I'm REALLY happy about the sport bike rider outfit. That and Maelynn are no brainers for me as far as the addons needed to help fill the sales prereqs.
I like Thorne characters (but is this one?) and I like teen characters and I like fairies. I have Mika AND Karyssa. There’s nothing wrong with Kaylee as a stand-alone release. But when you’re hoping for a number of other releases, yet another Young White Female just... disappoints. It’s been a long, long time since there’s been a drool-worthy heroic (or anti-heroic) male. Or an anime male. There’s _never_ been a teen of color. But I keep hoping.
(Posting a release schedule would help manage that disappointment, oh yes. But I’m probably better off hoping for an anime boy.)
For my fellow anal retentives: Daz calls their numbered humanoid characters "Core," as verified by this and this (Edward 8 is missing).
Technically, the Bases are Genesis 8, 3, 2, [no number], Victoria 4, 3, 2,1; Michael 4, 3, 2, 1.
At least here in Germany as long as the parents agree it's possible for a teen to get a tattoo. Some studios won't do it nonetheless...
And teen means she could be 18 or 19 and could wear whatever closes she wants to.
In the US you can get them with a parent's permission.
I think that depends on the state. My state of Washington, it's illegal for under 18 years old.
Maelynn is sitting in my cart as well, she's a no brainer for me too. I actually like the outfits as well, though some would need some kit bashing (that's unusual, because I tend to go for fantasy/warrior and sci-fi more than contemporary). I'm still trying to decide on which bundles to get with her. Probably Mika, and then maybe Izabella, Sunny (I alredy have her, and her hair though), or Monique.
It's always the same, more girls for more "r*ti*ca*" content. Female chararcters always sells better than males. Like in real life.

I was waiting for Girl 8 for a looong time, and would have been nice to know when she was really going to be released. While there would be an upside for users to know the release schedule in advance, it might also reduce the impulse buying for a lot of people, It would also reduce the need/desire for people to visit the store a lot, which could further reduce impulse buying. So, I can see why DAZ doesn't do it, as I would guess a great deal of what is sold is heavily influenced by impulse buying.
I like her ok and the bundle is actually pretty interesting. But I'm going hold out and wait for Genesis 9, so I don't already... ahem.... have all the Pro Bundles when they start offering them for free.

Regarding all the continuing disappointment at the failure of a release for Mei Lin/Lee; I'm beginning to wonder if, for this generation, they and Monique/Darius have switched places in the lineup. In which case we probably won't see them much before December.
Kaylee just isn't convincing me that I need her. I usually grab the base figure even if I give the bundles a pass. But this time I think I'm going to need to see some renders before I bite. And if I pass on the figure, I'll probably pass on the bundle as well.
Rather like Penny 8, but worse. There's nothing *wrong* with the figure, or wrong with the package, but there just isn't anything in there that has me sitting up, taking notice and saying; "I *need* that!" Not even the patented Thorne-levels of cute.
I had been hoping for Mabel 8 (assuming she is the counterpart of Floyd, and not just another young female), but I have no immediate need for her, so I am happy to wait. I am also a bit surprised that Mei Lin 8 has not arrived yet, but as others have pointed out, a number of excellent Asian characters for Genesis 8 have been released by the PAs, female ones anyway, for males I guess we still have to stick with Lee 7.
I have a genuine need for Mabel (Assuming that she *is* in fact Mrs Floyd) and have been annoyed that she is still delayed. Particularly in favor of characters that I don't really have a need for at all.
The only thing I'm interested in in the pro bundle this time around is one dress and one hair (so I wishlisted them). The character doesn't move me. This one is a pass until the next.

This is one of those...with heavy alterations, I can make parts work....
Dilemma is, once you start getting all the little add-ons you like, the price rises towards starter bundle levels.
And then PRO gives you SO MUCH MORE, you add that and then add more doo-dads so you can get the extra 20%.
And then a cart that was three or four items at $30 is now a load at ~ $70.

And, and then you want as many pro bundles for those future discounts and banners.
But then again, most of the pro bundles, I have a bunch from each, so their value is diminished..
I wish I was rich.
I'm running out of free bundles to get. I already have almost everything G3. I hope they start adding early G8 bundles as freebies because I never got Michael, Owen, or Lucas, not because they were male, I just didn't like their looks, or Penny. But I have almost all the free bundles already so soon there will be no incentive to get more new pro bundles at all.
I actualy like kaylee and her bundle, but will wait it out a little to see hopefully some forum renders.
I'm not sure I'm rich, but I do wonder why poor people don't just eat brioche when they run out of bread.
As for buying Teen girl now... why, it's doublegood to render pinups of teenage girls for a couple weeks!! That's awesome!

Actually, after everything I just got in the Victoria sale, there's nothing I really need in the kaylee bundle. I like SC Jio a lot but everything in the bundle I pretty much have a close version of. There's nothing wrong with anything, just too close to what I already have...
