I want more dystopian than utopian.

Looks amazing (as always) but I would love to see a future that isn't so bleak, (if that's at all possible, the way things are going...) A future filled with beauty, nature AND futuristic technology. Actually, I don't think I've seen an upbeat future since The Jetsons..

    Haha.

Although, there's was just plain scary.

7 months?! I trust you had a restful sabbatical and brought us back some goodies.

These are the types of cities I'd love to see Stonemason do (or someone up to his talent level.) I suppose I could kitbash a few things, but I'd love to see something like this at Daz. I guess Utopian is the correct word. Would you consider something like this @Stonemason? I know you are one of the few here capable of it... This is my dream product that I've been hoping for a long time... I know it's a lot of work but all your products must take a lot of work! I can't imagine that this wouldn't sell well! laugh

It's awesome. It looks like the grittier part of 5! The back streets.

    Installing...

  • I'm... not actually that impressed.  I could see this going with the Urban Sprawl series... but there's nothing that says 'Future' about this to me.

ooooh DAZ just gave me a green banner for owning them

Snagged it along with the light and camera presets first thing.  The green banner also got me one of his older sets. Downloading and installing now.  Cant wait to have time to play with this one

I would like to have something like that myself.

So, Wonderland, it is a great opportunity for you - may be your first product at Daz3D store.

...even future cities will have their old run down sections of town, just as we have today. In the cyber future RPG world I am involved in, this is where black market "deals" go down, and those of the underground society are hired as "deniable assets" to handle "delicate" tasks corps and individuals want to keep their hands clean of. Old and abandoned warehouses or hotels make great safehouses to hole up in until the heat dies down.  Security in the shiny tower districts is squeaky tight, something most "runners" like to avoid.

It looks beautiful, but I, too, have to say it definitely looks contemporary, even down to the external air conditioning units. There don't seem to be any futuristic elements in it, going by the promotional images.

Nothing wrong with that, of course! Just find the title puzzling.

I like it but it does look fairly similar to sets I own so it isn’t a must have right now. It seems to be more organic and have more greenery than the other urban futures but that makes it look overgrown but not necessary post modern.

Isn't that all in line with UF5 and arguably even UF4 as a near-future city scene?
  • GreymomGreymom Posts: 1,145

I think of these as "near future", like the old "Max Headroom: 20 Minutes into the Future" series.  The older section of the future city, where the Sons of the Neon Chrythanthemum* conduct their business transactions, where gangs of punk Kitsune-girls shake down local business for "protection" money, and where a renegade AI can find sanctuary with the underground.

This will work perfectly for what I have in mind.

I would also be interested in sets that show the "Utopia Cityscape" kind of street level, i. e. the nicer, newer, more futurey (Wait, is that a word? Well it is now.) part of the city, where the stockbrokers, Young Urban Professionals and such hang out, and where the shops of the Evil Mermaid Empire still have snarky human baristas instead of those creepy robosquid.

    *From "Neuromancer" by William Gibson

  • Honestly... I kinda like the quasi-contemporary look. It reminds me of something like you'd see in Blade Runner or Max Headroom, tbh. But maybe that's just me wanting sci-fi environments that don't look like wholecloth knockoffs of Star Trek/Star Wars/Mass Effect/Halo/Destiny environments, lmao.

He's after more of my money credit card already started wailing

Yeah, my card is wailing too, but he came a week too late. I spent my last on the new Gen 8 Pro Bundle, now I'm skint. I have just enough for a box of tissues to wipe away the tears. EXCELLENT work Stonemason! Great attention to detail.

I own the older one ... and several others ... no green banner for me :-|

Banner is for owning (some? Most? All?) Of the ones being offered as a freebie when you buy two items, basically as a substitute for not being able to take advantage of that offer.

How do you get the Banner? I have 82 stonemason products and most are the big ones except for the original Urban Future! He is one of my top 5 Vendors. Bummed!

I believe the banner is for owning most of the Stonemason Daz Originals not just any Stonemason product.

  • Serene NightSerene Night Posts: 17,704

Yes. I own nearly all of them and the banner shows for me.
