As an IT professional as well as a loyal customer, I find this ludicrous. Why should customers have to report glitches at all? Or PAs? Or mods for that matter? Would that happen on Amazon or anywhere else? No, it's not their job. It's up to the people running the website to actually TEST the stuff first to make sure it works before setting it live. If you're having sales that push the limits of the store software like DAZ does, you should have test servers in place to make sure it's not going to break stuff.

On the live side of things, this a webstore, like any other online. It's open twenty four hours a day. There need to be IT people monitoring the store and fixing things when they go down. Seems like spending some extra $$$ on the IT budget around here would save many thousands lost on "glitches."

Glitches and bugs are a part of technology, any enterprise developer will tell you this.  Sorry but its a fact of life and you cannot test for all glitches, a fact of programming is its never a problem until its a problem.

And that's why you hire people to check and fix glitches before and after the fact. Expecting your customers, content creators and forum moderators to do it is beyond ridiculous and unprofessional.

Well, you do both in my opinion.

Ultimately tho, any software I've ever owned has had it's share of customer-reported bugs. I totally see your point, and certainly developers shouldn't become 'lazy', relying only on customers to find the glitches. That would be a danger. But at the end of the day, it's ok to expect customers may find some glitches...and therefore adequate reporting mechanisms are needed, which it sounds like are in place.

Many browsers do NOT BEHAVE(conform) to the latest standards, so you can not even test for those issues. Then you ahve propogation issues where the website is updated every day at teh same time but the path toa given user is constantly chnging and all parts are not in the same place so this usually shows most new items for Free for the first few minutes each day. None of that is glitches. None of that can be helped. I would say DAZ does a better job than most. I am an old IT working with the Web for 15 years this year... I realize it is frustrating to deal with issues, but short of SkyNet taking over and preventing propblems due to humans... we get to have a little "fun" every now and then.

Am I right in thinking that the extra 10% off for having a new release in the cart  only applies if the new release is not a PC+ item or is this due to the problem with the 10% discount that Charlie Judge has noticed?

I've now cleared my shopping cart added in a new PC+ item (Semi Precious Shaders) and then added a Genesis 2 item in the sale - still no extra 10% discount!

Look at any software including your OS, there is a reason there are updates and patches to any software application ever created.  Because not every scenario is ever possible to test for as and as long as everyone's hardware environment, software installation, driver installation and what side of the bed they woke up on will change so often there is no absolute end to patching software at any given time and no way to test for every scenario, there are millions of scenarios.  In software, it's not a problem unless it becomes a problem.

Patches are created when users bring software issues to the attention of devs, it is just how it works.  Ask any Dev and they will all agree that they test for the obvious, any hidden factors are corrected via the market of users and bug reports.  As long as all other parts are moving and your hardware and other software updates and driver updates are happening a dev can never be fully covered on what could take place.

I'm not saying its fair when it happens and yes it sucks but it also gives us the opportunity to exercise understanding and patience, mistakes will happen and the only thing we can control is how we react to it.

If you missed something over it, just write them and I'm sure they will help you out.

You two are actually in agreement,. She mentions "and after the fact." You mention patches.  I think the point is- they discover a fix, or "patch" and then don't use it.  We have the same type of mistakes over and over. Magento is modules, once you fix (patch)  Module A so it doesn't get stacking from B, swap out the products for the next sale and keep the formula the same. In other words, stop reinventing the faulty wheel and use the fix you already discovered.

PA festival commence: DO then Mousso and now Kibaretto..Who will be tomorrow?

  • Having a new item in cart plus the nine freebies, I can't get the PlatClub coupon behave properly: it only takes off about 1$ off the non-free item. :/ When there are no freebies, just the item, it works properly, though. So the freebies eat up the coupon. :(

I believe the PC coupon not working with freebies is a known bug. You may want to send in a ticket.

Well, I own all but three, two of which are very old and of no interest. So, not a lot of incentive for me either. It might be a good day to save money unless DAZ has some super flash sales.

I own all but one. I really like Kibarreto products though. I wish we could choose our own DO freebies from a larger choice of products...

I'm a bit surprised we haven't seen a new major character release. Maybe DAZ is going to a 2 per month schedule rather than 1 every two weeks.

I'm pretty sure it's been a two per month schedule, since Daz started releasing more than one a month. I don't recall seeing three new figures released in one calendar month… (But then again, my memory ain't what it used to be!)
