Yes, and apparently it caused some brown outs and internet to go down for a bit, which caused me to get logged off and I lost the post I was working on explaining that.
I remember ... Burl Ives Christmas albums. Nat King Cole albums. Jose' Jime'nez on the Ed Sullivan show Topo Gigio on Ed Sullivan. Patti Page singing "How Much is that Doggie in the Window?" Kate Smith singing "God Bless America". "Science Fiction Theater" on TV as well as "Rocky Jones, Space Ranger" and "Howdy Doody". I remember only one minute of commercials during a commercial break on TV and only one every 15 minutes. I remember Milton Berle on TV, as well as Jack Benny, George Burns & Gracie Allen, and Bing Crosby. I remember the "Bob Cummings" TV show, as well as "I Remember Mama" and "The Ann Southern Show", and that guy who played the voice of Mr. Magoo before he became Mr. Howell on "Gilligan's Island". I just barely remember Dwight Eisenhower being elected President for the first time. I watched "I love Lucy" shows when they were new.
God, I'm old!
...we also had a local soda bottler called Black Bear (they're still in business but moved to a different location and now use plastic bottles), Every week remember riding along with Grandad to get a new 24 bottle (wooden) case of mixed flavours. They even had banana.
In Wisconsin the local company that made candy wafers similar to Necco was Stark (who also made the Snirkle Carmel bar I mentioned above). One other local candy bar we had was the Giant bar which is no longer around.
...and our hot cocoa of choice was not Nestle, Hershey or Swiss Miss, but locally made Johnston.

Does anybody remember the cartoons "Colonel Bleep" or "Beanie and Cecil"?
Where was "Colonel Bleep's headquarters?
What was Cecil?
Aww, it’s a cute baby dragon, with spooky glowing eyes.
And look! It’s grown bigger. It must be close to maturing.
dunno why i become emotionally attached to hatchlings, messed up maternal instinct?
That Pamelas mix is one of the better sellers in th estore I work at. In fact it was one of the items that was specifically requested by a customer years ago.
I kind of remember Beanie and Cecil...was Cecil a worm or a snake?
Dana
Remember the show after, The Lucy Show (I think), with Vivian Vance (Whoa Viv!) and Mr. Money...I mean Mooney
? I remember Jose (Bill Dana, wasn't it?), Topo Gigio (didn't know the name, but I remembered the act when I saw it on YouTube recently), didn't remember her name, but remember the song about the doggie in the window, vaguely remember Kate Smith singing God Bless America. I remember Jack Benny (now, stop that...hand on cheek) and Bing Crosby shows. Bob Cummings. And who could forget Mr. Magoo? I saw him in my mind when I watched Gillign's Island (first run). Also watched I Love Lucy in first run. The Rifle Man, Paladin (Have Gun, Will Travel), Wagon Train, Gunsmoke, The Andy Griffith Show (can't whistle for crap), Car 54 (Herman and Grandpa before The Munsters), Dragnet, Bonanza, Wild Kingdom (watched that at grandma's house on Sundays...along with The Wide World of Disney), The Twilight Zone, The Doris Day Show (see the USA in a Chevrolet), The Outer Limits. Saw all these first run. And more.
Dana
Cecil the sea serpent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJUs_Am-RpQ Silly, bad puns. And their nemesis "Dishonest John, aka: D.J."
Colonel Bleep's HQ was at longitude/latitude 0/0 aka: "Zero Zero Island" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntmL1YLJprQ Really stupid, badly drawn, cheaply made cartoon, but I loved it at one time. Never saw it in color though.
..I remember Beanie and Cecil. Cecil was a sea serpent.
..Jose Jimenez, I remember Bill Dana's routine about Jose being the first Astronaut.
a cricket has moved in with me, uninvited and noisy
I heard some lizards love crickets.
On other news, I woke up in a panic, because I dreamt (or is dreamed?) that I lost my iPhone and my purse. I have found my iPhone so it was not lost. I have not looked for my purse.
Sorry for the wake up call.
big day out, goin for manicure and eyebrow wax. a pick me up, fix me up, after the hospital stay
my 12 yo cousin sleeping over tnite
petting zoo tomorrow.
hopin the lasix worn off, or will be xtra busy today.
That comment brings back memories. Having to work routes out by availability of "Pit stops" when taking himself's Mother anywhere.
I'm getting there. 2 years older than Misty I think. I've got my grandmothers COlumbia CHristmas albums that I grew up listening to. Mahalia Jackson singing Amazing Grace, Sammy Davis Jr singing Candy Man, The Carpenters, The New Christy Minstrals etc.
ETA: Jim is working on a prequil to The Barbarians. SOme of the early stuff is REALLLLY dark as he's got to set up the foundatins for the cultures of the time and ideas like those don't come out of nowhere but it doesn't stay dark.
ETA?
Cecil was a seasick sea-serpent who always saved the day. "I'm comin' Beanie-boy!"
Villain was Dishonest John (Nyah-ah-ah!).
Don't remember Colonel Bleep.
Sometimes means 'Estimated Time of Arrival' but in this case I think it means 'Edited To Add"
I need to eat lipunch soon. But what is lunch?
