Sorry but no.  I take 1000 mg of Metformin twice a day. Your diet must change for your health's sake. Ask your doctor. smiley

Uhhhh, not so much.  It will help, but you can't go nuts because you can overload the effect of the metformin.  Talk to your doctor.  I'm on metformin as well, 3 years now.

Same dose here.  I can get sway with about 1/2 cup of cooked rice before things go South...

It can help keep your glucose down so you don't end up like me, amputated body parts and retinal damage.  It's not a cure.  Even if your injecting insulin you can't go back to gorging on sweets.  Sorry. :-( :-(

Storms gone.  Bright and sunny outside, kind of humid.  Whole world turning into a sauna. :-/

Thunderstorms all last night, rainy and grey today.  Temps in the mid-70fs, though, a nice break fro the mid-80fs. Very quiet outdoors, all the birds are hiding from the rain and commute hours are over for now.

Will have to shop when the weather clears, getting low on veggies.  Supposed to be nice tomorrow. :-)

...partly sunny and 61° today.  may go out for a walk in a bit. Low - mid 60s through Sunday

...true, but what else do you put General Tso's or Orange Chicken on?  Grain based noodles are very high on carbs which also turn to sugar so that isn't much better. Need a little starchiness to counter the sauce.

Check your blood glucose three hours after the rice. If it's back down to normal, you're okay to eat it. What affects one diabetic isn't necessarily trouble for another. That's why sticking your finger is key. I've been diabetic for over 10 years. I recently had to start seeing a kidney specialist because of diabetes-related loss of function (not irreversable yet). Diabetes is a real bastard. no

It's all a matter of balance and moderation.  I do noodles *on occasion*, nowhere near like I did before I got diagnosed.  Same with rice.  I miss my rice feasts... :-(

My two hospital dieticians in diabetics class had pasta and rice on the 'bad food' list, but after experimenting with myself I just decided I'd try to avoid them and not be Hasidic about it.I still eat biscuits on occasion as well.  I know it's not *optimal* for my health but, well, I don't care. :-/

What he said.  You know what wipes me out, glucose-wise?  Coffee creamer! I use the nasty sugar-free stuff now.  Brown rice isn't so bad, and the low-GI pasta isn't terribl glucose-wise but tastes pretty hideous. Better to just do without.

Apples and berries will spike my glucose hard, strawberries do the least damage. :-/

...well going to still have rice with my Gen Tso's tonight.  I only make a small amount (about 1/2 cup) and have wok veggies (including leafy green ones) with it as well.

When you are on a super tight food budget (like both of us are), items like bread, rice, pasta, and potatoes (the latter also high in carbs) tend to help stretch the meagre financial resources out a bit more so you can make it through the month.  Yeah, if you make a comfortable 5 - 6 digit salary you can easily eat "right" every day.  When you are well below the poverty line, you have to go with what you can afford, or simply don't eat. They never seem to take that into consideration.

Brown rice might be a bit better, and you don't really taste that much difference, especially if you're putting some kind of sauce on it.  You could also try quinoa.

Another day, another... day. :-| No real excitement today, bright and sunny and warming up.  Should hit low 80f's today, then 75f tomorrow, then baack into the 80f's again.  Shopping tomorrow, for sure, before it gets real hot!!

Cleaning up around my place today, piling up stuff I don't use.  Maybe I can sell some of this stuff on Craigslist, every little bit helps! Otherwise, it's into the recycle bin if nobody wants it...

60fs right now, so the window is open.  Nice fresh air!!! After all the rain it smells nice and clean. :-)

No birds out right now, maybe they're all off in the Sun drying out...

The problem lies with the fact that people are using all sorts of devices to surf the forum and some of those devices cannot cope with some of the sizes other devices are using. So we restrict the forum display to 800.in width so those with 768 width format can surf withoyut all the images distorting.

If people use the rich text tools properly when posting and restrict the forum display to 800 width they can still post images which will load to full size when clicked on.

Dealing with radically divergent Web browsers is the kind of nightmare I don't envy anyone.  I've had to deal with developing applications that ran on devices from cell phones to multiple monitors and it's a raging <expletive deleted> to deal with.  Testing also becomes a huge pain in the caudal peduncle as you have to check every @#$$ resolution possible and add all kinds of special-case code to fix things.

I can't find it in my heart to blame a dev for locking to a single resolution or a range.

That said, there are various Web toolkits that handle scaling for you, but you have to build your Web app from the ground up with th framework, which is not usually possible using Others Peoples Software. :-/

    See https://www.valuecoders.com/blog/technology-and-apps/10-top-web-development-frameworks-businesses/ for more info.

...marketing day put off until today.  Got caught up in other matters yesterday.

Saturday may pull the bike out and go for a ride as it will be in the mid 60s.

Agh stupid weather app on phone crashed again.  This happens with some regularity lately. Sad as I like this particular service because it gives the conditions close to where I am, not out at the airport along the Columbia river where nobody lives and conditions can be quite different because of the Columbia Gorge effect.

...I usually shrink it down to 600 that way even if someone has a standard 4 x 3 ratio display they can still get an undistorted view
