..that's what I am on as well.  Did he also put you on a Statin?

he prescribed me a blood pressure pill, he forgot to mention its a diuretic. no way i'm taking it.
    valsartan hctz

...the side effects between atorvastatin (what I was on) and valsartan are rather similar including nausea headache, diarrhea, and fatigue/weakness.  I was told the effects would subside after a week or so as my body got used to the medication but that never happened and after a couple months (during which at times I felt so listless I just stayed in bed or would take long naps) I had him take me off of it as it really interfered with getting anything done.  Since then I have felt fine just taking the metformin.

If you can get a second and even third opinion I would do so.

dizziness  >.<  i cross 2 major 5 lane roads on way to work, seriously, i could get killed.
not to mention a diuretic when my commute is over 2 hours each way.

Why are you so determined not to take a diuretic?  You can time the time you take them, so it will not affect your journey.

Regarding high blood pressure pills, it often does take a few experiments to get them sorted out and find what combination suits you. I think himself's Doc changed his about 3 times.   They were then obviously changed again to a totally different combination when he developed the Afib.

I don't deal with diuretics but we did take a couple of years and 4 or 5 combinations and dosages to finally get a combination of blood pressure medications that didn't make me woefully dizzy during the day and give me really troublesome dreams at night, yet were effective at controlling my heart rhythms all day & night, and for which I didn't have to make trips to the doctor to get blood tests a couple times a week.  Used to wake up in the middle of the night with my heart going "Thumpity-Thump-a-thum----thum-thum-Thump"- in random patterns.  But we finally seem to have that issue under control. (knock on wood).

But I can understand the desire to discontinue a medication when shown to be a problem.   Despite pressure from the doctor to continue, After a trial period of a few weeks I flat out refused to take Diltiazem (i.e. generic Cardizem) for my heart anymore because it and I just didn't get along, at all no)  Once we dropped that, I had no more complaints except for achieving 24 hour effectiveness of a combination of two other drugs which took a while to tinker into perfection. yes

I can't remember the names of all that himself was taking, But he had an antiarrhythmic drug, a drug used to treat angina to soothe his heart, High BP medications a combo of 2 I think, a statin sometimes a diuretic (furosemide) and of course blood thinners.  They all worked and he had been stable once they got the dosages and combos worked out for almost 9 years. It was something completely different and undetected that proved fatal.

Blood thinner is another thing I and my heart doctor go 'round and 'round about.  He wants me to take some modern drug that seems the right thing from his perspective but he's rich and has good insurance so the exhorbitant cost of the drug is no issue to him, but my insurance doesn't cover it.  The alternative is either a drug that is very tricky to not overdose with and requires weekly blood tests. no Or aspirin.  I've stuck with one aspirin a day for 7 years now.  Long term effects might be hearing degredation but that's the way the cookie crumbles.  It's either that or a drug I simply can't afford, or a drug that forces me to get so many periodic blood tests that I can't afford them either.   People in countries with good medical benefits don't realize how expensive American medical costs are, even with insurance.  But without insurance you either have to be a millionare or destitute.

My pillow wants me to get off the computer and take my glasses off so I can snuggle with it.  (the pillow and my blankets that is.  I do not want to snuggle with glasses nor a computer.

Himself was on Warfarin for 9 years, which is the cheapest blood thinning drug around. Our NHS sort of hesitates with prescribing the fancy one, as it costs them too much. When he was first prescribed the blood thinner it was weekly checks, but then as him and they got used to how much he would need the checks were spread out more.  Maybe 4 or 6 weekly even. Over here you can get it in various strengths capsules which are different colours, so quite easy to regulate the dosage.

I feel like I have to rebuy Bryce 7 Pro, because I did not "pay" for it.  Or is it like other free for a bit freebies?  Just because I got it for free does not mean I have to pay for it when it is no longer free?

If it is in your Product Library and there is a serial # for it in your serial #s then it is yours, you don't have to rebuy it. smiley

It's Tuesday again.  And again, the weather has cooperated. surprise It was warm enough yesterday that when the neighbor came home from work and drove up the driveway he broke up the top layers of ice and made slush ridges.  They froze solid last night so today I'm confident I can walk up it to my car and get in and out to do my uptown chores again today.  Yea!  yes  Snow is predicted but I haven't seen signs of it yet.

    Snowing, snowing, wind is blowing.

Power went out around 10:30 am.  UPS beeping woke me up.  Great way to start the day.   indecision  Came back on about 12:00.  We'll see if it stays on.  I hope so.  I was downstairs when it came back on...the sump pump immediately started pumping.  Went for about 10 or 15 seconds.  Longest I've heard it go in a long time.

Going to have something to eat in a few minutes.  Didn't want to open the refrigerator when the power was out.

...well went from beautiful sunny warm weather (1° shy of 70) to 50° today and much wet stuff falling from the sky (radar display is completely green).  Was nice walked around NW are of the city, did some clothes shopping, stopped at one of my old hangouts to soak up some sun while sipping a couple pints, then to the food market.  Going to be off and on wet until next Monday when it warms back into the 60s (still with lows in the 30s though...ugh).

Still snowing and windy.  There is an awful lot of snow out there.  I'll be busy with the snow blower tomorrow morning...if it has stopped by then.  Plows came by...made a two way street into a narrow street that I don't think two cars can pass.  That means a lot of extra snow for me to remove with the snow blower.  Glad my nephew brought it here and left it with me!  That would be a whole lot of shoveling!
