All six Darius 8 figures with no postwork (besides adding the name). I used the the Ultra Genesis Studio for lighting purposes. Yes, Tyrone apparently was having eyelash issues.

    I WISH! LOL

Bundles released in September, October, and the first half of November were treated to extra discounts due to the PA Festival and the PC+ Anniversary sales. Traditionally, Pro bundles are released with a 30% intro discount, or $94.47, just like any other new release. If you're a PC+ member, you also get the 30% DO discount, bringing the intro price down to $66.13. Daz has had some unbelievable discounts thrown in from time-to-time, but $35 as typical? No. Sorry. That's just not accurate.

Now, if you're willing to wait 60 days or longer to pick up a Pro bundle, they do go on sale, and sometimes are offered at stupid-cheap prices when purchasing a new release. I got Victoria 7 Starter bundle for free last year, with a new release pruchase. (Don't recall if it required one or multiples to qualify.)

The basic rule of thumb is that, once you've gone past the New Product intro period, EVERY DAZ Original goes on sale multiple times a year for at least 70% off if you're a PC+ member.  SO, if there';s nothing in a set that's screaming "Buy Me Right Now!" you can save a bundle by waiting a few months.

That said, lately DAZ has seemed to recognize that and has been offering a lot of convoluted ways to get the price down without actually reduce the list price of the bundle itself, and a number of recent Pro Bundles... and the previous poster's $35 per Pro Bundle figure on release is actually not far off.  Looking at some figures that I know I bought during the initial release period, I can see that the Monique 8 Pro Bundle set me back just $27.99 (and I only had to have the Monique 6 Pro Bundle to get that discount,)  the Lucas 8 Pro Bundle was only $25.60, Stephanie 8 was 33.10,  Teen Josie 8 PB was $37.79, the Mika 7 PB was 23.80,and the Elijah Pro Bundle came in at the ridiculous price of just $6.61.  That's less than lunch costs at many fast food places!

I don't think that's true. Monique's did because she landed in the middle of the PC+ sale and there were additional discounts. I don't think the other G8 bundles where that cheap though.

What the heck? Tyrone's eyelashes load (from the Content Library, using the icon under Characters for Genesis 8 Male) as a long, solid gray curved rectangle. Anyone else-  can you see if you get those results?    @redzstudio  is the vendor.  EDIT: If you load from the file under Characters (the main mats, not the eyelashes) it's fine. But it should NOT require doing that, the character icon should work too. He's a great character!

Hi Novica. I assume this happens when you load the character onto a pre-loaded G8M?

The trouble is that the G8 characters need to load with their eyelashes in order to be a complete character. But when you load onto a pre-existing character, you them end up with a second set of eyelashes in the scene, and these appear untextured. It’s just a matter of deleting the second set of lashes. I’m not sure if there is any simple workaround on this issue, but would be interested to hear if there is.

@redz  Hi Redz! Nope, it was directly from the Content Library, Genesis 8 Male, Characters- then when it shows their image, just clicked on the icon. Didn't have any other figures in the scene.  Just closed the studio and retested again, nothing loaded in the scene- same results.

I hate you. It was going to be easy not to buy it right now, but at this discount... grrr. Aunt Jean in Minnesota gets a nice card instead of a box of chocolates cheeky

    Happy Holidays!

(ps, of course I'm joking. I never send Aunt Jean anything...)

Thanks for the render, Jason. And thanks for mentioning Ultra Genesis. I've got it but haven't used it yet.

The only other ones (besides Monique) I got at release were Victoria 8 Pro and Michael 8 Pro and I paid $46.26 each for them. So, The current $49 low for Darius is not much more than that.

I did get Monique 8 Pro at release with extra PC+ Anniversary discounts for $25 and Teen Josie Pro as a spotlight item during the PC+ sale for $32.40, but that was later than release.

For me, Tyrones eyelashes load ok, but the opacity map's not being applied - hence the solid gray.  I can manually add the opacity from the materials.

  • Are all their bodies supposed to be identical? Is that how figures work?

The chest just seems so flat and disc like.

  • my orange banner has changed last night was 10% now being offered 25% off expires 12/12 I have d6 and d7 bases but I ageee those of you that have either of or both of the previous pro bundles you guys should get a better deal if you haven't already I'm still deciding bought a lot of stuff recently plus my membership just renewed  but I've got time

I got a few around that it depended on various factors though if you were a pc member, the actual sale and if you had bought any of the previous generations versions bas figure, starter or pro, and if say you had bought all the previous versions of a pro bundle of a figure than you got a massive discount. And some characters they just made extra cheap like some of the toonies don't rember the reason for it. Sightly off topic though the sales discounts sem to me to have changed for new releases for the last three sales new releases have only been given 30% off daz o's about 51%+ off though but I'm sure earlier sales with new releases were 40% off normally though I still bought A LOT of stuff during those last sales. The new D8 Pro before any discounts is at 51% $66.13 which is about average for a new release pro but the bonus is if you haven't got the previous pro versions you get them free which is cool and my extra 10% off has been increased to 25% but I'm just holding off working out my money luckily got time hopefully the free pors will wait too

Yeah, the bodies are VERY similar in Jason's render. I have noticed that has been a trend with several of the bundle releases. It would be great to see a bit more body diversity in the characters. Although I supposed they're all supposed to be characters build off the main character and maybe like "enhanced" versions of the DO? I don't know, but I'd definitely like to see a bit more diversity in body types. :) Don't get me wrong though, the men in Darious 8's line are almost all really GORGEOUS! :) I think the PAs did a wonderful job. I'd just like to see them push the body types to create a bit more variation for some of the future characters.

Unless otherwise stated, the new release intro discount is 30% and the Daz Original member discount is 30%. That's been true for the three years I've been buying from Daz. During the three major sales events of the year—March Madness, PA Festival, and PC+Anniversary—the intro discount and/or the member discount are frequently higher, but it will be stated in the sales copy. And I've seen the member discount higher for a variety of reasons, especially when Daz is giving the general public member discounts to entice them to join.

So far I’m really amazingly happy with this. I haven’t yet test rendered anything I haven’t liked which quite frankly is a rare occurrence in pro bundle content . I particularly want to commend the pa’s forall their hard work.

I'd love to see your test renders, Serene Night! :) I'd really like to see some more renders of Darius and his other characters. They're a great looking bunch and I'd love to see what people are doing with them. smiley

    The discussion about Genesis 8 Pro Bundle prices made me curious enough to check the prices I paid before Darius ($49.60): Monique 8 - $23.33, Lucas 8 - $40.80, Stephanie 8 - $35.09, Teen Josie 8 - $37.78, Michael 8 - $52.91, Olympia 8 - didn't buy Pro Bundle, Victoria 8 - $22.03

    AVERAGE: $35.83

If males don't sell as well, then why are the three highest prices (counting Darius) from the males? Is there a surcharge for the extra appendage?

EDIT: (I own all the Genesis 3 Male Pro Bundles; so, I didn't lose out on discounts except for Michael 8 (I didn't own Michael 4 Pro Bundle).

Thanks for the info Novica, it is very helpful. On further investigation, I see that the folder path to the materials was changed during the packaging process, so the character load is no longer pointing to the correct materials preset. I've contacted support about getting a fix. Also mentioned the double lash loading issue ( thanks @Barbult ), so hopefully that will get updated quickly.  In the meantime, applying the Tyrone All Maps or the Tyrone Eyelashes presets from the materials folder will apply the lash materials.Apologies for any inconvenience. • I think I'll be taking a pass.  What is with the lips on these Gen8 males? And those clothes? Really.  I need another set of flip flops. Perhaps you ought to have seduced Samsil for the clothes as well because none of these are selling the package for me, not by a long shot.

And does it not bother anyone that not a stitch of his clothing is Dforce compatible?

To answer your question, yes it bothered me enough to pass on this bundle as I posted earlier in this thread. Not only was the clothing limited with no real versatile morphs to open shirts etc, I also commented that nothing was specifically designed for Dforce use. We are now in the next generation of Genesis and nothings changed, especially where it's male orientated. My spending as a result has plummeted, and my 3d hobby seems to be stagnating. sad

I was more put off by the skin gloss on the character than I was by the lack of obviously dForce compatible clothing, just like I was with Monique.

Didn't think much of the Pro or Starter bundles (because of the clothing mostly). Maybe just Samsil's hair, Tyrone and Darius ;).

    Laurie

Yeah, I didn't want to be Debbie Downer, but he's not that great and the clothes look like PC items.  I like the hair.  Thank GOD there's a Samsil hair product in the pack.  I buy every Samsil product I can afford at the 'other store'.  I wish they'd have let him/her do one of the extra characters in the pack and we'd have gotten a decent ethnic male character.  If you've ever seen Samsil's characters, they're authentic real world and skins are amazing.  A

And the pro bundle price is pretty high since I own previous pro bundles.  So that's not a good incentive for me to want to buy either.  Oh well.....

I rarely complain but I agree I wish Samsil could have contributed a character with a more "real world" look to the bundle, The character in the main promo for the Top Fade hair doesn't even look like Darius 8. And the guy in the what a man poses looks like Darius 7. I'll get him for his genes and the base skin.  Not happy with the clothes at all I don't even understand the bandlands gladiator outfit

Yeah, Samsil rocks. I wish on a pack like Darius they'd have recruited him to design one of his awesome males and maybe even a hip trendy outfit like streetwear.  That badlands outfit looks like a bunch of layered ruffles.  I don't get that at all.
