welcome katfeete, you may have run across the last contest you'll ever want to join.... ( just kidding) this one is addicting. We have alot of fun around here and if you're not careful and quick you may get a virtual pie in the face. Nice render. We do allow for freebies that you can't find, and you listed it correctly.
One more round of quick rules questions (sorry about that):
1) It's ok to retexture the freebies as long as they aren't lost against a background with the same texture, right?
2) I know the items aren't allowed to be distorted in any way like only visible in a rippled water reflection, but if I can combine multiple items to form a different new item, but can still clearly see the original two items, is that ok? (A made-up example: a normal gun and some random stacked-cylinder object stuck to the tip of the barrel to create a Buck Rogers style gun out of it.)

1. Yes.
2. Yes; as long as you give a short explanation about the modification.
You guys keep coming up with the coolest challenges. I cut my teeth on Asimov and McCaffery -- how could I resist this one?
I'm calling it "Planet of the Lizardmen" because, uh, yeah, they used to call books things like that. I'm getting a distinct Andre Norton vibe from it myself (in fact I keep getting the vague feeling this is a book cover from one of hers I saw somewhere) but the girl is green-eyed and redheaded as a hat tip to Heinlein. Thank you, sir, for Podkayne of Mars and Methuselah's Children, I read them to death, and I forgive you for the emotional scarring caused by reading To Sail Beyond the Sunset at age twelve....

Greetings and welcome, katfeete! Given the quality of your first entry, I hope you'll be here for many challenges to come.
That's a lovely book cover... er, render. The links all check out (possibly excepting Skydome, but that's because I'm currently using an older browser that doesn't have Flash support - I'll check the link when I get to my usual render computer), and it definitely fits the theme.
It's traditional to mark which freebies require registration to download, but they let me get away without doing that the first time I posted a render, so we'll let you get away without it, too. :-)
Due to limited computing power, this is a composite image -- one render with the three uppermost vehicles layered onto the main render in Photoshop. No other postwork involved.

CoppaBot and ScottaBot share the same link, but you're still over double the required number of freebies even taking that into account. And you've given us the first flying car of the challenge!
If you need more incentive, this is just one of the masks in the set I'm offering for 3rd Place: M4 conforming figure, morphs to follow M4++, Hiro4 & Freak4. Double-layered lenses for refractive effect (not shown). Many material zones. Poser or D|S.
welcome katfeete, you may have run across the last contest you'll ever want to join.... ( just kidding) this one is addicting.
For a laugh I just checked and yup -- yup, I had a render entered in the very first freebie contest. I think I may have done the second too.... It's just that between the full-time job, the time-eating comic hobby, the now-a-toddler, and the various things that have exploded in my life in the past few years, I haven't had much time to do for-play renders or be on the forums very much. But as I said, y'all are coming up with some really cool challenges that make my backbrain itch. :)
Sorry about the registration thing; that's new (to me anyway) and frankly I've had my Renderosity and ShareCG memberships so long I forget you have to be logged in to download. :D I'll be more careful in future!
Thanks for the kind words everyone, and thanks for letting me play along!
@Odaa, I like it. You said it was not an entry because you have one too many paid items; if you wanted to try to find a free substitute for one of them so you can still enter it into this contest, you could list those items and perhaps you'll get lucky and somebody might have a suggestion.
@Luci45, FYI I clicked on the "Fantasy Towers" link just to see what it looked like closer up, and noticed you had accidentally pasted the link to the Bounty Series after it instead. Do you know where that product is?
*SMACK SMACK SMACK* (in total fun of course) and a pie in the face from the original pie thrower....
you will have to ask Luci45 that one. I would love to take credit for it though.

whoops... pie in the face accepted. I have corrected the username in the last post.
First time entry, hope I've done it right. This is based on the writings of Edgar Rice Burroughs, specifically his Barsoom series, which you may be familiar with through the recent John Carter of Mars. I give you Princesses of Mars:
Paid items:
Green Martian body: Aiko 3 (modded by doubling up the body and removing extraneous heads and limbs)

The lighting is just two lights - Uberenvironment with a funky redish HDR and an UberArea light above and to the left with a falloff. The bright light from the bottom front was from the HDR map. The HDR map was free. I can give you the url after I check to see which one I ended up using. (I played with lighting a lot.)
Sean and Rob. I fixed the link to the fantasy towers. That is the one, Sean, thanks.

Ah, Barsoom - a land where the sexism of the time was left behind on Earth... I've worn out more than one copy of those books.
All the links check out, and the render definitely fits the theme, so:

Besides, it's the wrong robot.
Meh. I couldn't get "monster pies of the id" to sound right, no matter how hard I tried.
