It is probably indicative that people are having trouble if there are multiple threads covering similar issues. I haven't found the threads in question to be particularly helpful and many are quite long with tangents.
Dforce is such a big deal that is very important to make sure the information is out there, and even more important...that the information can be found.
There should be a big huge brightly colored link in every sub forum that takes people to the same place. One place where threads aboiut dforce are located. So whether you are in the commons or technical help, clicking this big bold link will take you to same topics. This will help users get to where the information is, and possibly help cut down the duplicate topics.
I don't know how feasible that is, but something should be done. Even the store pages should have links to dforce FAQ threads. I'm talking about the fancy splash page in the featured promos. That should have a link to the start thread. Then users don't even have to search.
I almost exclusively browse the commons when I visit the forums. That's just where all the action is. I very rarely post or look in other subs.
Or why not simply make a PDF which people can download. A kind of "getting started" description. Now, we're tumbling into a thread saying "This can do all these things" but nothing in handy about how to start using it.
If we can't have a dedicated subforum...why not a consolidated subroum that includes a half dozen or so other similar additions or plugins to Daz3d? It should be alot easier to go to that thread and work through your issues
All forum softwares have allowances for subforums for a reason.
Daz3d users deal with the compliated software and have small number of forums.
The concept of KISS...may be be losing ground with all the new Daz3d additions.
A few subforums will help most of us - it ain't no big deal
Hmm... IMO, all these forums are very active. I normally just post in this forums. Maybe the subforums as discussed would work better in the Daz3d studio forum.
There is a thing about....when people are busy and need answers quick, it is generally better to go to busiest forums as larger numbers of people are responding.
Also, subforums take some time for people to realize more specific information is available to them. There might not be too much activity on subforums early on.
I appreciate the mods on these forums, because they answer many questions and really do their best to help. That includes alot of off-topic issues as well
I'm ""late"" to the Dforce party and I already experience the problem digging out the information and topics that would be helpful.
IF the forum search would actually be usable, things would be much easier, but until then something like a subforum really would be of help.
Just my experience right now.
Use an external saerch engine and add
site:www.daz3d.com/forums
to the search terms to limit results to those from the forum.
I'd love to see a Dforce Cheat Sheet.
For example how to convert V4/ early Genesis cloth to dynamics, how to pin cloth to figure, how to stop wind exploding the cloth, what to do when cloth falls throught the floor I'm sure there are lots more but a basic Cheat sheet on getting started with the basics would go a long way.
So much of the information assumes you already have a grasp on dynamics.
Ok...I've seen you link this thread several times. Please understand this thread reads like a computer algorythm and is simply not user friendly to those of use that are visual learners. Please know that we are not trying to be difficult, this thread is simply not helpful for many of us. For instance, my question is how do I keep clothes from falling off the figure. I'm sure this answer is within the thread you linked, but I just cant follow the thread well enough to figure it out. Thank you.
Simple question; does the figure you're having the clothing "fall off of" have a geograft in place when this happens? If so, it's happening because of a bug in dForce that's been fixed in the current beta release, and that information is mentioned in the "Known Issues" part of the entry.
Pretty much says it all really.
I kinda given up playing with dforce the information now is scattereed across several forums, here the Art Studio the Tech forums And Daz software forum - a real shame and a pretty good way to make sure people never really get to grips with something new.
