The formula for price is not working on the major sale for like one and half hour. I had a nice card and suddenly all price increased. I knew some had problem earlier so I just refreshed, removed some items and waited. Now this screen show that, for the last item, I seem to only have the platinum bonus of 30%. No loyalty bonus, no bonus for the Zeddicuss sales (which apply to other items). They are all Zed items! This was working for like 6 hours until around 2 hours ago.
Last night prices were jumping around and I had 4 items in my cart, including Genevieve 7 Pro Bundle, Z Reckless expressions, NGS. Anagenesis 2, and Z Manly poses. At one point the total dropped to approximately $20. I clicked check out and then the place order button, but when I reviewed my order after, my credit card had actually been charged $44 and change. Unfortunately I did not take a screen shot. However, I tried to reconstruct the cart to see if I could get the same total again. No luck. I thought about contacting CS and returning the items, but I figure it's still a good deal getting Genevieve Pro for $26. However, I've left my cart loaded with those same items and have been checking it throughout the day. The prices have continued to fluxuate. Genevieve Pro is currently showing up as $39.68, and the same cart total is $67.08. It was lower a few hours ago. I appreciated all that DAZ does to keep us entertained and enticed with all these complex sales, and the programmers have my sympathy, but there's something to be said for knowing what something should cost during a particular sale and being able to actually get it at that price.
Yeah, at this point I might just dump everything except SY's products. The characters I had in my cart were all impulse buys because the price was really good. Now that things have jumped in price, I can save myself some money and just leave it for another time (if at all). I'll wait for a bit more to see what the official word is. Should've just bought everything when the price was $25. Oh, well… there's always another sale.
As far as their normal, planned 'Price a little higher but seldom expect the regulars to pay full whack because we'll keep them coming by frequently putting it on sale' model goes, I'd agree. As far as accidentally putting most of the store on half price sale, I'm not so sure there. Yes, I took advantage of the latest glitch (I missed the last one). Not a lot, because 'not much spare money' is still 'not much spare money' at the end of the day :) However, I wouldn't like to see that kind of thing happen too often, mostly because I think that if it gets to the point where it leads to a massive drop in revenue for the company and the PAs have been promised they won't foot the bill but Daz can't/won't either, then the rest of us will instead, in the form of rising prices. Much like when insurance companies deem claims to be getting out of proportion. That's without taking into account all the forthcoming products, PA and otherwise, which won't enjoy as many new sales this month from those of us who already blew December's budget last night! It's going to have an impact somewhere, and maybe on all of us if it happens enough.
I think it's rare that DAZ looses a lot of money on those glitches as they invariably usually only even noticed by a few of the more active collectors of DAZ content and only then only occasionally. And for every discount I got that I shouldn't have got how many times have I been overcharged and DAZ made more money that I didn't notice because it wasn't hundreds of dollars of overcharge like I had to fill out tickets for 2 or 3 times to get refunds on the the past year?
The DAZ Dragon 3 Pro bundle is now 39 dollars and change compared to the 33 and change and 26 and change I was getting listed in my cart earlier. I think I was getting maybe a discount for earlier DAZ Dragon products I had bought and that is now gone. Either way, I decided to wait to see what December DAZ Originals main human models are released this month since the sale last all of December. I can be more picky and should be more picky now waiting for dForce, Hexagon, and other DAZ 3D technologies to improve. 99% of what's on offer now offers no new advantages with regards to those technologies.
Have to disagree. Got curious and looked. Thousands (looking at the couple order numbers from orders I placed) of orders were placed in a short timeframe. There's no "few collectors" that saw those prices, there were thousands. Between the time of my first and second order there were 3,489 orders. That was only about twenty eight minutes apart. Edit- 32 minutes, to be precise.) This glitch last night went on for quite awhile. In those 3,489 orders, each order probably had 3-10 products or more. Do the math.
Wait, there was another glitch last night? I thought you were all talking about the giltch of the last sale (the one where people thought it was a freebie offer)?
NEW releases were 66% off OR MORE.
D: Seems everything happens as soon as I look away! Daz programmer must be in dire need of coffee and/or energy drinks during these crazy sales!
It was epic!! got over $4000 worth of content for $49..................just kidding, LOL There were some good deals though. I am on vacation till wed, so I have spent more time here than normal which is why I caught it
Actually almost everything in the store had a 50% discount on top of whatever other discounts were in place.
Thousands in 30 minutes? Between 22:00 - 23:00 EST on a Saturday Holiday weekend night?! Well then DAZ 3D is doing quite well I think. That is good for the collectors here.
I don't know that those numbers for those orders are actually all used by unique individuals and if they might randomly skip a few numbers in assigning numbers to new orders to heighten customer and business privacy from prying eyes. I don't think the average user gets on the phone calling everybody they know to say that the DAZ Store may or may not have glitch in pricing to get on there fast and get them, but if they do that is the shopping model DAZ 3D and other retailers have purposely cultivated. I know I didn't expect those freebies to be delisted after so many were listed at once until the end of the Thanksgiving freebie giveaway.
When I picked out three items with a purchased new item and that's all the cart would give as I juggled picks for the 3 I wanted most, so I think that 6 - 7 items each customer free is too high. Of course some people may of setup multiple accounts to get multiple freebies but then that would be a small number of people causing an exaggeration of the number of customers that got those freebie mistakes for free. I guess DAZ 3D could create a captcha on checkout to prevent such glitches from being automated.
I missed that one.
I noticed that with the Z new relelases, but I didn't try any of the other Debut or Still New. I assumed it was only Zed's catalog getting the extra percentages based on the number of items from the catalog. I did have one new release that was beyond the intro discount and it got the 30% (3 or more in cart) discount. I did have trouble understanding how all the back catalog items in my cart got to 86% off though. Now I know.
The stats I gave were for last night, not the freebie glitch. Just wanted to clarify. :)
No need to set up multiple accounts. You just buy the same cheapie required product (like a new release) a second time, or third time. That's well known. (People were joking about that goblin being bought repeatedly.) There were several references posted on various threads that people were loading up repeatedly. If the forum is only a small number of shoppers (as we've been repeatedly told) then it's probably safe to guess non-forum members were also doing likewise. But yep, that's just a guess!
Ugh, I really need to stop sleeping... that's another overnight glitch I missed
I'm not telling how many goblins and TOA Cloaks I own. That's between me and DAZ.
OK, I was talking about the Thanksgiving mistake because that was major good and some very expensive freebies and I misunderstood that there was even another glitch. Well those numbers makes me really glad for DAZ 3D as to hear some forum members tell it DAZ 3D is always tetering at the edge of profitability.
I must be very stupid. Daz sells software, and it seems to me that any sale of software (online) is profit. Isn't that the reasoning behind all the $1.99 sales? Selling a lot, cheaply makes more profit than selling a little for more. Please, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I really would like to know how you can make a loss by selling a few bits of data that can be produced in endless supply.
You're forgetting that there are people behind the these products that put a lot of time and energy into creating this content. Many of them depend on the money to make a living. If there's a glitch when their content comes out, instead of making a profit they can take a bit hit and a big loss when people who would normally buy their content at X amount instead get it for a fraction of the cost. And while there may be "a few bits of data that can be produced in endless supply" there is NOT an endless supply of customers who buy 3D content. Once they buy it at that super low glitched price, it's not like they're going to buy it again.
Yeah, I've noticed that some of the PAs that move a few of their items to PC+ pricing, soon start moving all of their items there. It obviously works for those that try it. But I suppose its counter intuitive for some as it would seem to undervalue your product. If it was me, I would go for volume. Volume pays off in the long run especially if you make items which are indepenedent of Genesis generation, like small props, vehicles, etc.
Of course. I agree. That was not what I was talking about. I was talking about Daz' profits. Daz won't lose money, even if the re-imburse the creators who put in all that work. Daz is probably making millions out of these sales, so a few thousand dollars less is an annoyance, but not a loss. I really do hope that none of the vendors lose anything, because then we - the buyers - lose out on their talent, for the sake of a few dollars.
That's making a pretty big assumption. Unless you're a Daz employee who has access to their bottom line vs how much they spend on full-time employees and servers and all that - it's probably best not to speculate on how much they are or aren't making.
Is there a new freebie for today? i'm still seeing the dforce sweater for the dog from yesterday.
Agreed! As for the volume sales, that is fine if there is a big volume of consumers of which there isn't. This community is a very small part of the 3D world and a small niche market. Whats worse is the internet mentality of lots of net users who think that everything digital should be free and shared and the many file sharing sites that cater to them. Wanna help PAs get more sales, get more people involved in using DS and shopping in the MP.. I actually get excited for Daz and the PAs when I see new posters in the forum!
considering more than 99% of my content sits on a hard drive and does nothing I actually cannot see how the glitch that resulted in me snaring 7 pro bundles I actually uninstalled and hid out of guilt really cost DAZ anything,
esp since I spent a few hundred since then on even more stuff that will sit on my hard drive unused
I have a bit of a 3D contest hoarding addiction to say the least.
Many of the pro bundles from the sale (the girl 7, gianni 7, genevieve 7, anneka, Victoria 7) have no applied discount. They only have 30% off when added to the cart (showing $95,47 each in cart with a new release), and obviously get no loyalty discount. These are sitll in either the 2017 or 2015-2016 category.
No freebie today, guys.
What new release is in your cart? Could you show a screenshot of the cart?
Please make sure you have relogged and/or done a hard clear cache.
Please provide a pic of a sample cart that demonstrates the problem. That goes for everyone. Please, you can help us with example carts.
