TIP: Remember To Read Product Description For Hair Morphs
Lady Elf Hair- Worth A Look!
No Detailed Description, But Great Product? Keep An Eye On The Vendor!

    http://www.daz3d.com/lady-elf-hair-for-genesis
    First, here's the product description:
Glorious curls for your fantasy Genesis girls! This 3D hairstyle includes three glamour shades for the hair and ties, and morphs to change the look for many possible styles including one to hide the curls for use with a cloak or hood (not included).

Wow, this is really a neat hairstyle. Let's see what you'd find out from the Additional Information- sadly, not much. Goldtassel is wasting a WONDERUL opportunity to tout this hair. This is all it says regarding the morphs:

    "Adjustment and movement morphs"

Well, guess I'll elaborate. You can remove those braids, you can lower those curls so you have a nice sophisticated, elegant style instead of a mass of jumbled curls, you can bring in the bangs, shorten the bangs, widen the sides...the list goes on. You can get SUCH a nice variety with this hair, think about wishlisting it!

I'm using it for my hair morph video, and am very busy, but let me do several quickie screenshots for you. Spot rendered. No lighting. Bangs pulled back in toward face, bangs widened, curls lowered, curls smaller, curl volume reduced. Fast and oh so easy!

Keep this hairstyle in mind! And it goes back to what I said about the promos- if you aren't sure about a pictured hair or item, ASK. You'd never know those braids could be hidden, the curls could be greatly reduced- by looking at the promo. This vendor put a lot of work into this, so I'll know to explore their products and I would wishlist any other hair by them.

If you are not a member of the Platinum Club, it IS a DAZ too, so you can use any codes you've received in the mail for DAZ Originals. They have one right now for $6 off. As this one is 41% off (for non-PC members) with that $6 off it'd be $3.99. PC members get it for $1.99.

    INFO: Love Stephanie 5!!

I adore Stephanie 5, which surprised me- so thought I would share that sentiment. She has the coolest characters. RILEY, which got Honorable Mention- is one of Stephanie's characters. b(Riley + morphs to tweak gives you SO many different characters!)

    Stephanie 5 is 70% off.

    TIP: HEADS UP ON PRICING-
It makes a difference where you purchase from- if it says 30% on the gallery page, be SURE you don't buy it from the product page unless you check to see that 30% is also on that page. I've had several "what the....?" when I almost paid full price. And yes, I checked, from the gallery page it was on sale in the cart, AND got the additional 50%. Don't say you haven't been told! (and that's why you should surf my Art Studio thread for glitches, lol)

That said, WOW- Thanks DAZ! Look at all those stores you can get 50% off on! (buy 3 things)

If you have that (and 3D Universe is on sale, so consider getting her but you need Sadie too, I got the Sadie and Sam bundle last time. It's of course up to 50% off now too- for today only! Thanks Scott-L!
The lighting is a combination of blues, peaches, and gold. In this shot, I really zoomed to place the hand so the finger was in the hair and I had a few strands of hair draped in front of the thumb. It's fun! Just a reminder to people to ZOOM IN when you're doing hands. (I'm a broken record, I know, I know.)

Summer Casuals Fitted Sundress (V5) on V5: Dress: Yes/No

I am showcasing V5 clothing, and we are looking at the ease of using clothing which is V4 on a V5 model. Which clothing is just easy "bring it, leave it"- and which ones require a lot of tweaking after Auto Fit. Important- this is no reflection on how well it will work if you DO work with it. My model, Cassini, is straight V5.

This is Cassini wearing the Summer Casuals Fitted Sundress. I am not having much luck with the dynamic clothing- the material print stretches out of whack with her leg slightly forward. I'll have to play with Parameters and get back to it. But the top fits nicely- this is without any adjustments whatsoever. So this would be a yes to the top part, and a no when the legs are in action- at first glance only.

Answering a PM question that I thought you might like to know too- the outfit Cassini is wearing upon her introduction (the blue top and blue jeans, with sneakers) is from Toon Amy! I MADE NO ADJUSTMENTS! Love it!

    TIP When Moving Head

Remember not to select Genesis in the Scene tab. You need to use the arrowhead and expand the menu-head and neck are under abdomen. Then go to Parameters and use Bend, Twist- it's easy! Try giving your figures a tiny tilt, a small bend- add some nuance! If your character is alert, tilt that head up, even if it's slightly.

Coming up: Cassini models Magna Hart for you, and I'll tilt the head up. You'll see how she projects confidence, alertness.

Magna Hart For Genesis on V5: A Glowing YES! Easy To Fit

These images are all done without any light adjustment so excuse the chest glow (certainly pulls the eye, lol) I guess we can pretend there's a building on fire....

Anyway, this is what Magna Hart looks like without the collar. I'm going to go see what that sleeve does, if it's rigid or if it will bend a bit. All of these shots are to show you "out of the box" so to speak, so you'll see what you need to do with a product.

EDIT: I also used the cleavage modifier in Parameters / Actor so she has a better bust. That brings the breasts closer together.

Okay, so sleeves on this are really cool- you don't have bend or twist, you have five "sweeps." Suggestion- get the pose you want and the angle you want, then do the sleeves. Doing a render now to show you how you can shorten or flatten the sleeves- which brings me to...

TIP: Your clothes can really enhance the motion your character is performing, and also the environment.

What you didn't see in the Riley closeup (the gal laying on the cannon) was the cloak was billowing behind her for the full length shot. I did poof out the hood of the cloak as it would be filled with air as she is on a moving ship.

The sleeves on the Magna Hart give you a good opportunity to billow the sleeves, have them drop a bit to show the arms swinging forward, etc.

Back in a bit with the sleeves photo.

I'm working on a render now that has two characters riding off on a motorcycle. I'm trying to find a cloak/long coat that will allow me to have it flowing out behind the person on the back. Does the cloak you used allow that? If so which is it?

I had actually tried to use the Magna Heart dress but it tries to follow the line of the thighs and billow out below the knee which doesn't work so well for a sitting character.

SciFi Bunny For Genesis on V5: Yes, Except Boots Depending On Pose

    Let's kit bash!
I'm randomly selecting outfits and seeing what, if anything, can be combined with the previous one. So from Magna Hart, I went to SciFi Bunny (lose the ears and tail and this is an okay outfit.) SciFi Bunny (SFB) is NOT family friendly from the rear, it's okay from the side.

TIP: Think Outside The Box For Sexy Outifits If You're Family Friendly

Listen, a lot of this stuff is downright beautiful for closeup / bust shots. And some of the stockings and boots are awesome. Many products include jewelry. So far as SFB, I don't intend to ever shoot from the rear, I'll be careful with the crotch shots (will also see if that band can be widened) but the thing is- I can just change my camera angle. So let's see what we can do with Magna Hart and SFB.

Go take a peek at SFB first. (You'll see what I mean about the rear.)
    http://www.daz3d.com/scifi-bunny-for-genesis

I'm rendering the COLLAR from M.Hart with SFB. EDIT: FINALLY! I think this actually looks quite classy. Feel free to use any of these ideas- I am just randomly mixing one with the next, no planning. Not using it for any contest or anything, so if you see something you like, please use. I like these two together- what do you think?

I'll do a separate post showing you the SFB with the Magna Hart collar AND the top part of the SFB.

This is a draft, I was going to work on it for a contest in the future, but I already used her face and have so many other things I'll go ahead and share. Just ignore the lighting, it is only a few spotlights and a fill. But you can see the cloak. Love that mouse in the cannon, lol! See how the cloak billows behind? And you can get it curving into the spine, etc. Let me know how it goes for you :) Any other cloaks or products you have a question on, let me know. I have a lot of products (thousands)

Kit Bashing- SciFi Bunny For Genesis (Yes, Except Boots) And Magna Hart Collar

Okay, back from the barn. This is the SciFi Bunny with the full top, and the Magna Hart collar.
Edit- okay, here's the right photo!

One thing- and I just don't have time or the inclination honestly to mess with it as I'm not doing a render with this outfit- I am having that high heel issue where the spikes of the heel are bending and funky. I'll read up on how to solve that, but just be aware these boots are extremely tall heeled and you're going to possibly get distortion.

In this pose, the boots did fine. So just be aware you may or may not have this problem. To show the boots, I had to get a somewhat risque shot of the crotch, sorry bout that (but still within the TOS as the promos have the same shots. No female parts were used anyway, just a blank skin.)

This outfit can be fairly family friendly, just don't shoot from the straight side as it's a G string- or obviously from the back, and from the front as you can see in this shot. You can get a good angle and that crotch issue disappears, it appears more covered. Or for sexy renders, the SciFi Bunny outfit won't disappoint you!

If you want a challenge for lighting, try bringing down some point lights to glow off those embedded lights in the outfit- that would be cool!
Will try some more outfits tomorrow. Whatever outfit pops up next in Smart Content. If you want to request anything, feel free. Or if you have done some cool kit bashing or love an outfit, feel free to share.

Sexy Silky For Genesis on V5: A Glowing YES! Easy To Fit

Which clothing is just easy "bring it, leave it"- and which ones require a lot of tweaking after Auto Fit. Important- this is no reflection on how well it will work if you DO work with it. Coming up-

Kit Bashing- Sexy Silky For Genesis And SciFi Bunny Boots

The next thing I saw was a red silky dress. So keeping up with my challenge to kit bash, the only thing that worked was those black boots (OF COURSE.) Wait till you see these two together. Funky. But the red and black are a nice combo. It's rendering now, and I'm as curious as you are. Keep in mind, NO ADJUSTMENTS made (unless there is bad poke through) These are full renders, not spot, so it takes 15 minutes to 30 minutes.
    Cathie

EDIT: Here's the dress- and I can tell you the top part of it has rendered and it is REALLY nice.
    http://www.daz3d.com/sexy-silky-for-genesis

Okay, you can see the funky in the boot. And just so you know, the boots end exactly where I have them meeting the dress. Were I to tip this to a slightly different angle, you'd see the thighs. So it limits your posing if you dont want to break the continuity of boots and no leg showing.

    Sexy Silky For Genesis

Okay, next- rendering a sexy pose showcasing just the top of this dress.
I was thinking- if you really wanted to use this combo, since the dress is so short, add a jacket or a cloak and you totally have an outfit without a "dress."

EDIT: Okay, here tis. The detail on the dress is very nice- sophisticated.

Thought you might like to compare some dark reds/ maroons. Get ready for Battle Maiden- awesome top!
SCOOP THIS UP if you haven't- and join the Platinum Club. That $30 when you join is quickly recouped. This is only $1.99!

You can't see it in this next render, but it has long coat tails. Add a pair of jeans, pants, or of course, armor and off you go! Render coming later.

And as you can see, Bobbie25 is using a very similar pattern for both the Battle Maiden and the silky dress. The Battle Maiden is 1.99 while the Sexy Silky Dress For Genesis silky dress is $12.95. Of course, one would be a top, the other a dress, but thought I'd pass the info along. One is also silky. And this was totally a coincidence that I did these two, one right after the other. I was like, "wait a minute...."

Coming up- a rear shot so you can see the "coattails." It has a nice flow. And not shown- the underneath side of the coattails has that same pretty pattern- there is a lot of attention to details.

EDIT: This is a V4 outfit, and the breastplate isn't fitting very well right off the bat- depends on how much work it will take as to whether I mess with it. The arm grieves did splendidly. The foot armor, not. Headed out the door, may play with it when I get home late tonight- but just know parts of the outfit do very well with V5 immediately, other parts not. (Not unusual, even when using autofit.)

Battle Maiden (V4) on V5: Shirt and Pants: Yes
BRC Dark Rose For V4 And A4 on V5: Shirt, Hat: Yes

We are looking at the ease of plopping clothing in which is V4 on a V5 model, and not working with it, which is no reflection on how well it will work if you DO work with it. I'm also showcasing V5 clothing. Cassini is straight V5.

Battle Maiden just isn't working out for me so far as the chest armor part. Keep in mind I'm only using Auto Fit and a FEW of the morphs that come with the clothes. Vendor gives you a lot! I purposefully kept my Cassini very simple, no blends of characters, she is V5. The breastplate and feet stuff had large poke through, and the smoothing and collision were way up there. All the chest morphs were zero for my character too (no implants, no heavy, nada.) So for a "quickie" outfit, I'd have to say no to the chest armor, yes to to the shirt and pants. The grieves seemed to work fine, no issues with those.

Textures: Battle Maiden should be gorgeous for V4.

So on to the next product:

Wow. This one for V4 is SUPER for V5. BRC Dark Rose For V4 And A4 This is only the shirt and hat. Plop, drop, minor tweaks to the hat and NONE for the top. Haven't done the other pieces yet.
