iPads make me iScream and iRun.  I might iPuke..

New complaint: low on pork and bbq sauce.  Last pork steak just went into the next to last of my bbq sauce to marinate overnight.  Le sigh.  I'll eat well tomorrow.  Used up the last of my bbq sauce with diced New Mexico chilis for lunch, slow cooked a pork steak 3 hours at 200F in it, but OMFG it was soooo good.  I love to cook!  Dinner: olive and cheese plate.

Meetings all tomorrow morning, trip to the doc Friday afternoon.  Ugh, oh well, it's necessary. Feh.

...same here (cooking).  Partially thawing out a pack of organic boneless chicken thighs for another big pot of curry.  Like to keep them slightly iced as it makes slicing them up easier. Going to get down into the 30s for the next several nights and only 40s for the highs so need something to warm myself up with.

Why can't we have fast inexpensive Net service like other countries do?

...I really need a hardwired link as wireless is not only flaky, but yes there are those limits (which I believe i hit tonight while downloading content as suddenly the DL time for one file ballooned to 3 hours).

In a number of European as well as Asian cities, fast hardwired service (often fibre optic) is less expensive than cable Net access is here (in some places, it's even free).  I checked, and where I am located, seems to be a "low speed" area (odd as this is one of the more upscale neighbourhoods in the city).  So I pay for a "high speed" plan which gets throttled. because of my location.

When I'm working I generally use about 9 - 10 GB/month with mobile wireless for phones and pads, hard to say how much it costs exactly cos mobile plans are very opaque but the bill is usually around $100,  phone calls and text on top  for free (!). Wired broadband at home costs about 80/month for about 200GB on average + around $120 for satellite and streaming TV, is often feeling slower  than the 4G wireless but being realistic there is a lot of server-side throttling going on so speediness is patchy depending on who connects to what. The government is building a fibre network but we are such a big country is difficult to say when all that will get finished, seems a very ambitious project :)

...I am supposed to have 16 GB plus another 10 GB in what is referred to as "my stash".  I received the first warning that I used all my regular high speed data on the 1st of October and would be using the 10 GB in the stash.  Last night I received another message that I was down  to just over 3 GB and a couple hours later before I began downloading the last few items, another message came in saying I only had 1 GB left and when that was used, would "...experience slower speeds, up to 128 KB/s until 11/15".  I've done big download sessions before and got the usual first warning but never encountered what I have been dealing with this morning.  It feels almost like I am on dial-up as I sit and watch connecting swirlies that go on ad nausea before even a simple page that is mostly text loads.  If it has images, time to go off make a cup of tea and a muffin, wash dishes, check the mail, tidy up around the flat, etc.  Even emails sometimes take a while to load. Even the forum spell check takes forever to go through what I am writing to catch typos.

This is not good as I usually receive between 150 - 200 emails a day due to my being a "concerned citizen".  Fortunately this morning, most have been asking for contributions (which I'm not only too poor to comply with, but don't feel comfortable with splattering my card number all over the Net) so I was able to get through the first "wave" fairly quick, considering.

I never had this issue in the old place (where we had 1 GB hardwired Fibre Optic service, really miss that) or even where I lived in before when I had cable Net service as there were no caps (including "in home" wireless between devices).  Unfortunately the most affordable plan for halfway decent throughput (54 MB/s) with the local cable company went from 46$ to 60$ with modem rental while 100 MB/s is now 80$. Both are also 1 year "hook" deals after which the price will go up significantly.  In Zagreb I could get high speed Net service with no cap for something lke 16$ a month US.

I may have to just bite the bullet and shell out the 60$ to get consistent service as downloading files form the store apparently really eats up that wireless allotment something fierce.  10 MB/s (which with modem is 50$) isn't going to cut it. The real annoying part of it is here, if you don't get a bundle with television and phone (don't have a telly or even care to and already have a phone plan I pay 0$ for), you effectively pay more just for Net service alone.
