i don't like roman words for our planets.  i'm okay with greek words for our constellations.

what is a waystation exactly, or is it weighstation.

working out details for space station harbor master.
i think, cannonballism would be more of a problem in a space age semi-civilized psuedo society.

Distance of Earth to Mars: 54.6 million kilometers

Distance of Earth to Venus: 261 million kilometers

Possible reason no rovers have gone to Venus: "...the surface temperature of Venus is hot enough to melt lead." - Nola Taylor Redd, SPACE.com Contributor

Waystation: a station intermediate between principal stations, as on a railroad. (dictionary.com)

Weighstation: not a word, but usually used in reference to stops where commercial transport trucks stop to get weighed.

A way station is a stop along a journey, such as the rest stops on the thruway.

A weighstation is a a place where trucks are weighed to insure compliance with road restrictions.

That's the farthest Venus distance and the closest Mars distance, lol

It depends. Our orbit is closer to Venus' orbit than Mars' but the planets orbit different speeds so sometimes we can be much close to Mars than Venus and vice versa.

Venus is a very hot, hostile environment that tears equipment up. This is why rovers don't go there (yet).

we still in the big bang event?

i read the universe is still expanding.

It is. The farther away a galaxy is, the faster it moves away from us, because all the space inbetween is getting stretched out.

    starfish and octopuses very interesting.

octopus have problem solving skills like opening a jar, seems we should be able to train them for missions

...also the fact Venus has a high pressure atmosphere that is also highly corrosive.  The Russians did land a probe on the surface which lasted only a short while before it was rendered inoperative.

I've read that. I'm not convinced because they have no explanation for the doppler effect that's happening. There's definitely always room to learn something new though.

...no The Navy already did that with bottle nosed dolphins, we don't need them "drafting" another species.

Related though, an underwater "city" was recently discovered along the Australian coast that was actually constructed by a local octopus species using clam and scallop shells to build their dens.  The shells were not only moved into place to form walls but sculpted as well. It is thought by marine biologists that this may not be an isolated situation either.

No, "cannonballism" is the belief that enough cannon balls can solve any problem. cheeky

Currently, distance to Mars = 365.7 million km.  Distance to Venus = 237.4 million km (from https://theskylive.com )

At their closest, Venus is 40.7 million km (next October) and Mars is 57.6 million km (next July)

...there's a few where I live.  Transparency film is not as involved or expensive to process as colour prints.  Transparencies can also be scanned into digital format.  Considering it would probably cost me around 2,000$ to get a similar setup in a digital photography rig (which I'd rather put that towards building a new workstation) The cost of processing is a minor issue.

Have you tried Fuji Velvia? Their ISO 50 film is amazing, does wonderful portraits.
I'm still buying and using film, even though I have a Canon 5DIII.
And some wedding photographers have reverted to film, since there is still no
    truly archival digital storage media.
One local photographer suffered a storm when her customers realized that some
of their will-last-100-years Gold media weren't lasting 10. And some of her master
    copies were degrading, as well.
Not even my 5D full-frame can match my Mamiya 645 using Velvia!

...I generally do only 35 mm these days.  The last time I used 120 was in an old Kodak Brownie when I was young (as well as 620 in a box camera).  My preferred film was Kodachrome 64 because of the lush colour saturation and extremely low grain.  Just getting Ektachrome back is a win for me as it is the next closest.

Most of my outdoor daylight Iray scenes are set to mimic Kodachrome 64 as I still know the settings needed though I have to manually adjust the saturation and balance a bit (for example the girls at the bus stop pic is one and my "See the USA" pic is another).  I wish that Iray had the toning settings which actually simulate different film types like Lux has.

The films I mentioned are available in 35mm. I just mentioned 6X4.5cm as an example where the results can not be matched by (relatively) affordable digital cameras such as the full-frame 5D.

Where do you get your 120 film processed these days? I haven't used my Rolleiflex in years and might like to dig it out and try it again.

I'd have to dig out the paperwork, but you can find mail order labs easily online.

if there a black hole center of our galaxy, and galaxy still expanding, is stuff comng out of the black hole?  but, if stuff still coming out, then, its not a black hole.

Interesting. cool But for now I put it in the same league as the oft debunked theory that gravitation works differently at large scales.  It might make the numbers come out right but something still doesn't seem right about it.  Regardless, either or any of those theories are fine with me if proven, because I do fervently believe in the zero sum theory where, when everything is added up, it all comes to zero.  It's much easier for me to believe that The Nothing is the Reality.  And The Everything of space/time/energy/matter is a self-contained abberation/illusion/consciousness.

Sometimes I think that all that stuff falling into all the black holes is what's making the universe expand.  But then I think a little harder and change my mind.  Until I think, "well, maybe...". devil  And when it all gets sucked in, then out will pop a Jeremy Hillary Boob, PhD.  The "Nowhere Man".
